Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 5 nights

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Peace, relaxation, solitude, with only the breeze or the cry of a soaring hawk to break the silence ... all surrounded by a 100-acre nature preserve with turkeys, deer, and even an occasional bear. Just seven miles from the center of eclectic and historic Asheville, North Carolina, and close to a host of Western North Carolina attractions and activities.

This 3,200 square foot home perched high on the side of a mountain at the end of a pristine forested drive offers stunning panoramic winter views, spring and summer views through the lush curtain of leaves from hardwoods standing as sentinels of your privacy. A uniquely constructed home of wood and rock that seamlessly blends with its mountain environment, the home features a 22-foot-high cathedral ceiling, two large stone fireplaces, and includes all the usual amenities plus a 6-person hot tub on the deck, broadband Internet, a CD/Tape/Radio sound system throughout the house and unlimited U.S. long distance calling. Completely furnished, it will comfortably accommodate 10 people.

The oversized master bedroom on the first floor has a king bed, TV, and the master bath features a full size tub, glass shower and two sinks. A second suite on the lower floor features two mission style queen beds, a massage chair and private bath. The third bedroom is furnished with a king bed, crib (linens not provided for crib) and rocking chair. All three bedrooms open directly to outside decks through large glass doors. The fourth bedroom has one queen bed. All linens and towels provided.

The large decks on both the top and bottom floors cover 1,500 square feet and offer a gazebo, rocking chairs and privacy for the perfect place to relax (and while no smoking is allowed inside it is permitted on the deck). With the gas grill, it’s also the perfect place to cook and dine. Or enjoy preparing gourmet meals in the fully equipped kitchen as you enjoy the mountain vistas through a large bay window. The kitchen includes full size appliances, including refrigerator with ice/water in the door, electric flat cook top with self cleaning oven, dishwasher, and microwave. You’ll find sharp knives, multitude of pots, pans and bake dishes, pizza pans, hand mixer, toaster, blender, and coffee grinder and maker. There’s also a full-size washer and dryer for your convenience. Off the kitchen you will find a small breakfast nook.

Lush, green and serene, the home is remarkably close to historic Asheville, with abundant shopping, dining, arts, and entertainment. Just 9 miles away is the world famous Biltmore House. Also visit the world famous Grove Park Inn & Spa less than 6 miles away, walk around Beaver Lake or Lake Louise, or picnic alongside the French Broad River only a 2 mile drive. Cruise the Blue Ridge Parkway, just 9 miles away.

Other area attractions and activities include: the quaint town of Weaverville, the 435-acre North Carolina Arboretum, the Pisgah National Forest (mountain biking, swimming, hiking), horseback riding, balloon rides, skiing at Wolf Laurel (19 miles), relaxing at the historic Hot Springs Spa (30 miles), Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, Chimney Rock Park, Grandfather Mountain, the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, and, of course, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

But then you may find you’d just rather stay home and sit on the deck with a good book.

Exactly as described and in photos: a secluded home just outside Asheville with plenty of room. We spent a lot of time just hanging out around the house.

Great property in a convenient location to Asheville!

Loved this property! Lots of room, with many nice small touches like two wood burning fireplaces, massage chair, and heat lamp for when you get out of the shower. Well stocked kitchen. Super Mountain Views!

Girls weekend away

  • 5 of 5

Some friends and I just wanted a quiet weekend away without the guys and found this perfect little gem just 10 minutes from downtown Asheville. Nice to stay in or grab an uber ride downtown for some brewery hopping! Would be great for families too - lots of space and things to do!

Private home in the woods with spectacular views!

  • 4 of 5

The house is exactly like the pictures ...We had a family of 10 & the space was perfect. My only concerns were...There were only 10 forks, the deck & railing needed some work, the hot water heater would go on & off while taking a shower & new bed pillows would help. The place was clean & the kitchen was well equipped, minus dinner forks, the Wi-Fi worked great & the Foosball table was s big hit! The family dog loved romping around the yard. The owners were very good at responding to any text, email or call. My daughter in-law left her hairdryer and straightener & the cleaning lady mailed it back to her! We would definitely stay here as again!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review Maureen. We're glad you enjoyed your vacation and your family dog enjoyed romping around the grounds. The deck upgrade has been a work in progress due to its size and will continue until finished. New forks and pillows have been purchased - thank you for letting us know. We look forward to having you back for another visit.

Very nice and well kept home. Loved the hot tub and Fooseball table. Perfect for our large family!

House was perfect size for our family gathering. Well stocked kitchen for cooking. Loved the fireplace upstairs and down. Only thing was it really needed better pillows, especially in upstairs master bedroom and extra blankets. The two provided weren't quite enough for chilly nights.

Clean with plenty of room for the group.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was clean and had a beautiful view. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Easy access to downtown Asheville and blue ridge parkway. I will say that the GPS got us lost a few times including getting to the cabin on our first night.

Enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone.

The Serene Mountain vacation home was perfect for our stay in Asheville.

  • 4 of 5

We were in Asheville a week for our daughter’s wedding. The home was lovely inside and large enough we could entertain family and friends between wedding events. While the house and deck could use some updating it was clean, comfortable and supplied with most of what you need for a week. We spent a lot of time on the deck enjoying the peaceful surroundings and awesome Asheville weather. The drive up the mountain on the gravel road in the dark was challenging the first time but got better once we were familiar with the area. Area close enough to Asheville that it is serviced by Uber and Lyft.

The Serene Mountain Vacation home is located 7 miles from downtown Asheville with easy access to I26 and Merrimon Avenue and only 5 miles to the quaint town of Weaverville. Weaverville has a lovely assortment of restaurants, cafe's, live music, nature walks, Lake Louise and an eclectic artistic scene. The road to the house is part paved and part compact gravel and has a mild incline - a beautiful drive year round, but especially in the fall.
