Property is set on a private cove. Quiet, serene location. Marv was great. Kitchen is well supplied with dishes and pans. Full size fridge, stove, washer and dryer were all pluses. Little more than an hour away from Peggy's Cove. An hour from Halifax. Beautiful beaches near by and lovely coastal drives. Several picturesque picnic areas at nearby lake parks with hiking trails as well.

This was an absolutely fantastic holiday rental. Exactly as described and the images didn’t do the cottage or the location justice. We were incredibly happy with our stay and the support and guidance we received from our hosts. Good local shops, cafes and restaurants a short drive away.

comfortable and cosy waterfront

A great experience. The property is snug, clean with a great harbor view. Just a short drive to 3 beautiful beaches. The owners are friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this cottage.

Amazing Cottage and Hosts

The hosts are very kind and down to earth people. The cottage is very clean, nicely decorated, comfy bed and is equipped with all the comforts of home. It is in a great location for taking day trips out to places such as Peggys Cove,.Halifax, Martinique Beach etc. Highly recommend!

Perfect!

We spent 2 weeks (last 2 of August) in this little cottage and it was the most relaxing holiday we've had in a long time. The location is so quiet, very private. The morning sunrise a photographer's dream. Marvin and Sherrie are the perfect hosts! We highly recommend staying there!

Perfect little cottage for our small family! Everything was clean and sharp, water was hot for 4 people showering, fast wifi, nice amenities for cooking some meals for times we stayed in, AMAZING view of the ocean / inlet!! and all on a nice quiet side road... highly recommend!

A Lovely Week

This trip was to visit my long distance girlfriend for a week and this property was exactly what we needed. We are very thankful for Marvin not turning us away as our original Vrbo had been cancelled due to the owner selling the property. The cottage had everything we could’ve needed; we didn’t need to bring anything to cook or clean with, there was everything for doing laundry, plenty of space for the two of us, and the bed was comfortable. Would recommend to anyone looking for a small getaway!

Exceeds Expectations!!

Marvin's customer service began before we arrived! The cottage was East Coast charming, bright, fully equipped and ready for groceries only. The view of the ocean bay outside the door each morning was spectacular! We loved seeing the lighthouses and fishing boats. The eagles in the area were beautiful! Halifax, Lunenburg and Peggy's Cove were in close proximity and there were many beautiful beach options in the area. Grocery stores were close by, gas and even Timmies were only minutes away! We cant say enough about this experience!

Exactly What We Were Hoping For

We spent 2 weeks at this lovely oceanfront cottage on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. It wad everything we needed in terms of supplies. The hosts, Sherry and Marvin, are great people and were very helpful in responding to our questions or suggesting places to see/do. The entire area is beautiful - sandy beaches, gorgeous views, etc. The cottage is located in an area that is within driving distance of many other areas on the Eastern Shore, plus Halifax, Peggy's Cove, Minas Basin, etc. We had visits from deer, flocks of Canadian Geese, and a pair of Bald Eagles. The night sky is filled with stars. You can see the French Point Lighthouse across from the cottage. We plan to return.

Great cottage near beautiful beaches !

We had a wonderful stay ! Thanks to the hosts, they were great ! The cottage is even better in real than advertised. There are beautiful beaches near the cottage. Our favorite one is Clam Harbor. Martinique Beach and Taylor Head are also nice. All the beaches were recommended by the hosts. Cottage is only one hour from Halifax. The host recommended to take the ferry from Dartmouth to Halifax. It was easy, cheap and nice to be on the water. It was also a great experience to see eagles from the cottage. To relax in the cottage, internet is great and there is Netflix. The only thing we dislike was the odor of the water from the well and the color orange for the warm water. Other than that it was perfect !

Prior to our guest arriving we received 140 mm of rain in a 24 hour period. The excessive amount of water affected the water color in our well. We provide a cold water dispenser with commercial bought water for drinking and cooking.

Peaceful and serene

If you’re looking for absolute silence-night and day, a big deck, bbq and fully outfitted cabin with the Atlantic at your front door. Where once you get groceries you can literally unplug (don’t worry there’s internet and cell service). And hosts that are there to welcome you/get you set up - but allow you your space to contact them as you need them, this is the rental for you! Add bald eagles, Canadian geese and pheasants, and you’ll think you’re on a deserted island-but only 10 minutes from a gym, the liquor and grocery store, pizza, fish and chips… I’ve never slept so well as I did here. It was late Fall, and even though the weather was unseasonably warm, I can just imagine what Summer is like here. You’re with 45-1 hour of Halifax-Dartmouth, for any big city things you desire, but if your needs are simple, you won’t need to go far from “home” to thoroughly enjoy yourself.

Beautiful Views!

This Ostrea Lake cottage is a very quiet, peaceful setting to soak in the views, sunsets and Maritime living of Nova Scotia. Marvin made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We loved sipping our morning coffee on the deck looking out at the lobster boats on the ocean. We highly recommend this place at Ostrea Lake as well as the hosts!
