Great place for a family, group, get-together. Quiet and peaceful with plenty to do. Very nice dock and lots of room. Well appointed kitchen and roomy deck for family meals outside.
We had a small family reunion at this vrbo property and it was fantastic! The property was clean, comfortable, and spacious! The hosts are great! I strongly recommend this property!
Plenty of parking, we had a gathering of friends to go fishing. Lots of room inside to also entertain when the weather doesnt cooperate. Would book again!
The property was fantastic! Tons of space for the family and a beautiful view in a quiet corner of the lake! The owners were wonderful to work with and were excellent with communication and welcoming us to their lake house!
I rented this for my family for a Memorial Day weekend getaway. We had 16 of us and we had plenty of room. Absolutely loved the backyard and view. The kids could kayak and fish and we could sit on the deck and keep an eye on them no problem with that little inlet. We would stay again for sure!!!!
What a beautiful property on the lake. The view was fantastic, the dock easily reached, and the house was in great shape. The big spacious deck offered a great place to have coffee, eat, or just enjoy the view. Will surely be a repeat customer.
This is a sweet spot. The house is clean, comfortable, and on a beautiful lake. The kitchen is as well stocked as any rental property we have stayed in (and we have stayed in quite a few) and the communication with the owner was excellent. The pictures are accurate and we loved our stay. Thanks for having us!
The Round Lake Roost was an excellent selection for our family of 13. There were spacious bedrooms with a variety of sleeping arrangements. The kitchen was adequately stocked with cooking supplies, we ate all of our meals at the Roost We really enjoyed the ice rink and ice fishing on the huge lake, we love to be outside and it was perfect for us The area was very peaceful! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The Roost was so wonderful! There is lots of space and rooms to relax and spread out in! The deck is huge, we loved spending time out there in the evenings and had happy hour! The path to the lake was smooth and it's so wonderful that we didn't have a million stairs to navigate! Fantastic location! We always love Big Round! We had a late-August miracle that it was still hot weather and we could jump in the lake without freezing! I highly recommend!
We head North every year for an annual snowmobile vacation. This house has the perfect location and you can snowmobile straight onto the lake from the driveway and back yard to trail #9 across Round Lake. This year however there was no snow! Luckily, family and friends we were with have ATV's so plan B was put into action and the ATV trails are also accessible from this property. We will be back next year!
Thoroughly enjoyed this property. Nice and cozy place. Spacious bedrooms and a master bedroom with an incredible view. The owners were very accommodating. Would definitely stay there again. Highest rating!
The Round Lake Roost was a great place to spend our Labor Day weekend. The home is situated in an idea location, very clean, lots of space and included many extras that made the stay even more relaxing. We would definitely recommend the Roost!!
We had a large group of guys ranging from the age of 25 to 65 and everyone had a good time. Plenty of space for everyone, plenty of sleeping spots and plenty to do in the area. The location for the fire pit was awesome, right on the lake, and everything was quiet and beautiful. Our group would tend to get a little loud when everyone was drinking and having a good time but the neighbors were all friendly and awesome and joined in the fun with us. Needless to say we would easily book with Mary and Ryan again.
This property suited our group of 6 just perfectly. Each couple had their own bedroom and their own space (if desired) between the lower and upper level living rooms AND their own bathroom. But I can see this sprawling floor plan accommodating much larger groups. The kitchen is completely equipped. There are fun board games and puzzles. The inlet is great for fishing and kayaking or canoeing. The fire pit provides a great view of the rest of the lake and the views out either level of the house over the lake are stunning. Just a short drive west into Hayward or east to other great destinations.
Our family has vacationed in the Hayward area for 17 years. This year’s week at the “Roost” was outstanding. The property was exceptionally clean. The Hansens provided many towels, paper products and cleaning supplies. The second refrigerator and lower level area with the laundry were great. We enjoyed the deck and the beautiful location on Round Lake, one of our favorites. Many thanks!!

Upon arrival we were very impressed with this property; the pictures don't do it justice! We've never stayed at a place with so many "extra's" like plastic baggies, spare light bulbs, lots of extra dishwasher soap and even shampoo & body wash. We never found ourselves wanting anything! Our kids enjoyed the excellent fishing and catching frogs in the pond/inlet. We found the owner very responsive, but also respectful of our privacy. I highly recommend the Roost, and we plan to come back!
We had a great stay at this place! It has everything that we needed and was really close to the trail heads for out adventures!

About the host
Hosted by Mary Hansen
Ryan and Mary— Ryan grew up in the Northwoods enjoying all that the area has to offer—nature and all the wonderful changing seasons, along with all the outdoor sports (skiing, fishing, hiking, canoeing, boating, hunting and more). Now living in Hayward with our family, we recently purchased Round Lake Roost to share the wonderful adventures of the Northwoods with our children and others. We hope you enjoy our home, the lake and all the area has to offer.
Why they chose this property
Hayward is remote yet not too remote. There are tons of places to shop and eat and yet you can go back to the Roost and most times it is so quiet you can hear a pin drop. The Roost will have many of the modern day conveniences like cable, phone, internet, etc.
What makes this property unique
This home is great for a family that wants a private dock, swim area, lakeside fire pit and private inlet for fishing and canoeing. There is a yard and a blacktopped area good for kids’ games and parking. As we put together the furnishings and amenities of the Roost we carefully thought of the vacationing families and what they might enjoy and need to make their time in Hayward a great adventure. We look forward to having families and friends at Round Lake Roost.
