This was my second stay, and I love this house. The house is well equipped and has everything one could need for a fabulous trip. Our favorite spot is definitely the large porch and the sound of the ocean! I would highly recommend this house, and I would absolutely book it again!

Escape from the North.

Edisto Beach is low keyed, no crowds, great restaurants and Rooney Bin was a perfect fit with comfort, style, location and more comfort. A very enjoyable stay.

Family Beach trip

Great location-short walk to beach access in a very quiet little street! Plenty of room for our 7 family members to eat and hang out around the house. House is older, built in 1977, with an older house charm. Enjoyed our stay!

Fantastic Rental Highly Recommend

We loved our stay at the Rooney Bin. We had 3 generations staying there and there was more than enough space for everyone. It is a very short walk to the beach and the house is fully equipped with EVERYTHING you possibly need for a vacation and more. We were so comfortable and happy staying at the Rooney Bin and would definitely stay there again. Highly Recommend as a rental.

Relaxing Beach Getaway

My family and I had a wonderful time at the Rooney Bin! The definition of a quaint beach house, it was absolutely perfect for laughs, quality time, and a true reset. The house sits in a great location, allowing you to enjoy Edisto’s little social scene or spend any (or all) of your time sitting in the sand. The Rooney Bin is perfect for a family getaway - great layout, great location - nothing but a good time!

An Edisto Gem!

This is such a great house on Edisto! Clean, comfortable, great location and fit 2 families with children nicely. Spacious kitchen and open floor plan. Owners were so helpful, easy to work with and quick to respond to questions. Would definitely recommend!

Great Beach House

This was an great house for our vacation! The open floor plan really helped with the kids being able to run (crawl) around and have fun. The beds were super comfortable. Loved the porch!! It was a really quick drive to the beach and the sound. It stayed cool as well. A+

We LOVE the Rooney Bin!

This our 2nd year here and hope to continue the tradition. The house is perfect for us and steps away from the beach. When not on the sand - the screened porch is my happy place. The house has everything you need and always clean. Oh - and the outdoor shower is FABULOUS! Patty is super easy to work with and very quick to respond to questions.

Best Edisto stay yet!!

Our first time at the Rooney Bin but definitely not our last. Just me and my 2 adult kids/SO so more than enough space. I loved the house - screen porch was my favorite spot! Very very clean and homey. The decor was perfect and I loved reading about the history of the house and family. Perfect location too! Patty is very responsive - can’t wait to book next year. Been coming to the island for 20+ years - best stay yet!!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had 6 adults and my 8 month old grandson who had the very best time! The house is wonderful and the hosts have supplied everything you could possibly need, including a baby gate and a high chair! Everyone enjoyed the screened porch, and the interior has such character - perfect beach house! There’s a lot of room under the house for parking and enjoying the swings! The location is great - not too far from the beach, but in a quiet location as well. The hosts are wonderful- very responsive and kind. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Edisto!! Highly recommend!

Your home away from home!!!

The Rooney Bin is a fabulous house! You walk in and immediately feel like you are home. There is everything you need and more! I've never stayed in a vrbo so well equipped! The beach is very close and an easy walk. Our favorite part of the house was the porch! So comfortable. I cannot leave out the area under the house. A perfect place to spend time. I can't say enough good things about our stay! We would absolutely stay there again! Now my favorite house on Edisto!!!

We were very pleased with the property. It is well maintained and spotless. The personal touch with the house decorations is outstanding, making for a comfortable stay. If you are a cook, you will not be lacking for any utensil or lot or pan. The owner checked in with us during our stay to make sure everything was working properly. We had an issue with the TV reception with a "big game" coming up and she made sure it was solved promptly. We have fallen in love with the Rooney Bin.

Absolutely wonderful!

The Rooney Bin as perfect for our family & friends. The house is perfectly located within a short walk to the beach with a wonderful yard. The home is well furnished (the most comfortable bed I've ever had in a rental!) and the kitchen is equipped with anything you could possibly need. I can't say enough about the screened in porch and the area under the home. We had all of our meals out on the porch and spent "happy hour" on the swings and at the bar under the house. We have spent our summer vacation in Edisto for over 20 years and the Rooney Bin has been added to one of our favorites! Thank you for sharing your home, we had an absolutely wonderful time!

Perfect Get Away :)

The house was just as described. Worked perfectly for our family and grandparent get away. There is a queen bed room up stairs with a bathroom and a loft with two twin beds for children... with trundle beds big plus for the future! The grandparents were able to stay on the main floor in a queen bed/room and not climb as many steps in the day. The bed room down stairs with the double bed was the perfect bed room for my littles “babies bed room.” Open floor plan on the main floor was a plus with small children and the screened in porch was where we spent every night! A very short walk to the beach! Very open communication with the owner. Overall we were overly pleased!

Perfect for families, great location!

The Rooney Bin was the perfect beach house for our family vacation. Loved the openness of the living space as we had 3 one year olds and it was the perfect play area for them, with kitchen and dining right there as well. Kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. Beds were super comfortable. The house was only a short walk from the beach access, which was great. Also had grocery, shops, and restaurants nearby. Patty was very communicative and answered my questions promptly. Unfortunately we planned our trip the week hurricane Idalia came in, so we had to cut the trip a couple days short. Again, Patty stayed in touch with me regarding our safety and worked with us since we had to leave early. I highly recommend booking the Rooney Bin, you won’t be disappointed! We hope to come back again!

Disappointing Stay - Poor Cleanliness, Maintenance Issues, and Unprofessional Handling

Our stay at this property was unfortunately very disappointing. While the main floors looked clean at first glance, it became clear that deep cleaning was neglected - under the couches was dirty, and several pots and pans looked unwashed. One of the bedroom lights didn't work and there was still laundry in the dryer which made the stay feel unprepared and poorly managed.We also had to deal with the smoke alarm going off multiple times without reason, disrupting our stay.Worst of all, after we checked out, the owner accused us of stealing framed pictures from the home, a completely false and upsetting accusation. She later reached out and admitted she has found the pictures, but never apologized for wrongly accusing us. That kind of communication is not only unprofessional but incredibly disrespectful. Between the cleanliness issues, broken light, leftover laundry, disruptive alarms, and the owner's behavior, this was frustrating and disappointing experience. We would not recommend this property to others.

I don’t know what to say about this review. It just makes me sad to realize that there will be a clunker renter once in a while. Of the 300 renters we’ve gotten over the years on all the platforms we use, I’ve had all 5–star reviews with three 4-stars sprinkled in. That said, I won’t waste time defending these ridiculous comments, especially the one where the three pictures had been moved during their visit. Ridiculous. There were no “accusations,” just asking if they had been moved, but suffice it to say the pictures were discovered stashed between the wall and bathroom cabinet by the following renters. It makes me sick to my stomach to say: Be wary of this woman. She is not as she appears.

Great Screened Porch!

My brother and I and our spouses spent about a week here in May for our parents 50th anniversary (they stayed at another house close by). There was ample room for just the four of us, a smaller space would have been fine but this was the best deal close by. We cooked most of our meals, went to the beach a few times, and traveled back and forth between the three houses that were rented by our different families for the event. Upon arrival we were happy with the location and cleanliness of the place. Although not right on the beach and you can't see the ocean from the property, you can definitely hear the waves crashing against the shore. There are three covered parking spots which is really nice, and a nice outside sitting area and bathroom below. We stored our bicycles inside the laundry room, which is also below and stocked games and a few beach chairs. Moving into the house we noticed that there was quite a bit of "flair". Nick-nacks and trinkets cover the place, which I guess give it the "Rooney-bin" vibe. This was a bit of a struggle for us, as it was very difficult to find any space to store the food that we brought because of all the clutter everywhere on the shelves. The kitchen cabinets are fully stocked with pans, storage containers, and dishes, so we ended up having to combine a bunch of mementos and curios from certain shelves to make room for our dry goods. Even then we still had stuff all over the counter. There are more dishes and plates there than anyone would ever need, it needs some organization and elimination. The abundance of object d'art makes this place unsuitable for small children, they would constantly be breaking stuff. The bedrooms are almost like in Goldie Locks. There is one large bedroom with a medium firmness bed and a window air conditioner. There is a medium sized bedroom with a very firm bed upstairs close to the outside AC unit that makes noises that could be bothersome to some (not just white noise, also something deep and throbbing). Then there is a small bedroom with a very soft bed which is where I slept. I enjoyed it very much, but ended up storing my clothing upstairs where the daybeds are, as there was not enough room in the bedroom for both mine and my spouse's. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much. I would consider the Rooney Bin again if returning to Edisto Island. It was great for us, but may not be great for some. It almost seemed designed for "girls week at the beach".

Our parents built this home in 1977, and we were able to maintain the ambiance that gives it the great Rooney Bin vibe. As far as storage goes, we designate one cabinet in the kitchen for your dry goods and a large closet off the kitchen to hold extras. We are a favorite destination for families with young children and have not lost anything of value. The most valuable thing in the house -- to us -- is our guests. And we hope you come back again.

Lovely Stay on Edisto

We had a great time at the Rooney Bin! We've been coming to Edisto for many years and stayed in multiple places, but the Rooney Bin will be a favorite. It's a lovely home with so much character and history. It's obvious that it's much loved and so convenient to everything.
