Very quiet and relaxing after exciting times on the river and the mountains.
Private, relaxing, and comfortable
We enjoyed our stay at the Streamside cabin very much. Renting process was easily done with good clear communication. The cabin itself was very clean, and well maintained. There was plenty of room for five adults to spread out. We slept in the room with the king size bed ,and found it extremely comfortable. At night we left the window open for a cool breeze, and to hear the water rush by in the stream. The kitchen is well equipped with most any cooking utensil you could need. Very nice gas grill outside too. The hot tub is new and worked perfectly. There is ample seating out by the patio and the creek. My only suggestion would be to add a chair or two out front in order to watch the wildlife . We did not mind opening and closing the gate at the entrance to the road ,because we enjoyed seeing the cattle roam freely. Scottish Highland cattle are beautiful creatures, and we loved seeing them up close. Every morning we saw deer around the property too. The cabin is located close to Salida for groceries and restaurants, but out far enough to feel private. There is some road noise to be heard ,but the stream is what you hear the most in the patio area and back part of the house. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Nice quiet place
We really enjoyed our stay. Close to many sights and hiking. Jean does a great job in communication during booking and answers all questions in a very timely manner. Would definitely return.
Gate in the Mud
The cabin was spacious though the photos were deceiving. No central heat or air and it was snowing when we arrived so it took hours to heat up the bedrooms with space heaters. There is a gate that you must exit your vehicle to open and then drive through and close behind you each time you enter or leave the property. It was inconvenient since there was a lot of mud and a cattle guard there. I’ve stayed at other cabins in the area that are more convenient and have less requirements/deposits. The neighbors were also shooting guns all day Saturday which interrupted our time. We did see some deer and it is a pretty property but probably not somewhere I will stay next time.
We apologize this guest had to deal with mud near the driveway entry; however, this may be a probability when a property is out in the wilderness and not located in town with paved streets; to help, gravel will be installed out near the entry gate. Our listing states the heating types since the cabin is a restored, remodeled, and expanded 1800's miners cabin. We do keep the custom propane fireplace on in the main area so the cabin is at a comfortable temperature upon every guest's arrival. A Pet Fee and signed Pet Agreement are required when a guest brings a dog/pet; this is to outline our expectations and protect our property. We are sorry this guest heard a few gunshots (not all day). Again, the cabin is located out in the wilderness so we cannot control what other people do off our property. Our listing does also state that the cabin is a one acre in-holding surrounded by a 120 acre private ranch. The gate is to keep trespassers out and to protect the horses and cows the ranch holder owns.
