About the property

House, 8 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, Sleeps 30, 2 full kitchens, 18x30 waterside fire pit

Happy Hour is a newer lake front home designed around the celebration of family and friends. It is ideal for reunions, gatherings, and the entertainment of both large and intimate groups. Happy Hour accommodates up to 30 guests in beds and is equipped with ample table seating. Located on an acre lot with more than 200 feet of private water frontage & built right on the 1044 (the lowest and closest to the lake that the Tennessee Valley Water Authority will allow).

This 8 bedroom home offers 2 full Living levels complete with a full kitchen, living room, dining area, as well as a private deck with a full outdoor furniture set and grill on each level. A 3rd walkout lower level is equipped with a game room offering Foosball, air hockey, a gaming TV, and two bedrooms designed as kid friendly bunk rooms and a full bath. This 3rd level is very private and is sure to accommodate the more active evening activities, while providing tranquility to the upper two floors. The 3rd level walks out to a private deck which extends to a secluded hot tub deck equipped with a new hot tub overlooking the water. Beyond the hot tub deck is a walking path and fire pit area on the waters edge.

The Covered boat dock is oversized, constructed with Trex decking and is equipped with two personal watercraft drive up docks, a water slide, and a large sunning deck with a Tiki Bar and is ideal for playing at the water or just hanging out. The Main level of the house is located on the street level with no steps to the entry. This is ideal for those wanting to avoid steps while still enjoying the breathtaking views of the water from this level.

An 18 x 32 foot fire pit and camping area has just been added on the waters edge. It is elevated and overlooks the water & is perfect for evening gatherings or early Spring and Fall activities. Like the rest of Happy Hour, it was designed with the group gathering/family in mind. Sharing stories with your friend/relatives around the fire or just roasting marshmallows with your grandchildren is a special experience you will remember for a lifetime. Two tent areas beyond the main gathering area are ideal for the kids to have a campout close to the house during your vacation.

The main level kitchen is enhanced with granite counter tops and custom Tennessee built cabinets. The majority of the main level has authentic hardwood flooring, 17 foot tall cathedral ceilings, a 50 LCD TV, a Bose iPod Sound Dock, two dining areas, a beautiful owners suite equipped with a king bed and a pull out single love seat. The owner’s bath is top of the line with a Jacuzzi type tub and tile flooring. The 2nd bedroom on the main level has a king bed and adjoins a full bath via a private entrance. This 2nd bath is also open to the great room and is a common bath. The 3rd bedroom offers a full over full bunk and a great view. The Main level deck extends the length of the home as do the other 2 levels of deck, and offers a sunning area with lounge chairs at one end and a table and chair area with a large stainless steel grill at the other.

The middle level has an open floor plan complete with a large family room with a spectacular view and a 50 inch plasma TV, as well as a 2nd full kitchen, dining area, 3 bedrooms, full bath and a laundry room with an extra ice maker. The 4th bedroom is located on the lakeside and has a king bed and TV. The 5th bedroom offers a king bed. The 6th bedroom is set up ideally for the young family with a queen bed and a set of twin bunks with a trundle pull out bed. There is plenty of room for a Pak N Play as Happy Hour has two of them upon request.

The lower walkout level, as mentioned above, is complete with a recreation/game room and two bedrooms. The large room has two full over full bunk bed sets, and the 8th bedroom has two twin bunk sets.

Happy Hour has plenty of parking and, can accommodate up to 8 cars outside of the home, and many more in the development's auxiliary parking area. Happy Hour is conveniently located in the Lakeside Estates gated community just a few miles from I-75 and minutes from the city of La Follette. From the lake, you couldn't ask for a better location. The very popular Deerfield Resort is located just south of Lakeside Estates and around the corner from Sugar Hollow Marina, Shanghai Marina, and Springs Resort. You can enjoy these full service marinas and restaurants within a few minute boat ride, yet be very secluded at your vacation home.

About Andrew Gaydosh

Our family lives on a lake in Ohio and have enjoyed waterfront living for many years. Due to our experience with lake living for several years we custom built Happy Hour to reflect the needs of our family and others like it when we vacation at Norris. Over the past few years we have made many improvements to complete our wish list.

Andrew Gaydosh purchased this house in 2007

Why Andrew Gaydosh chose LaFollette

As a real estate professional, I specialize in waterfront homes for sale & rent. With the knowledge and experience of 20 years of being involved in waterfront homes we designed and built Happy Hour with all the wish list items a renter would want.

What makes this house unique

Most of the reservations we have at Happy Hour are repeat visitors year after year. We hear over and over how they love the floor plan and how it accommodates their large groups. They love the 2 full kitchens, the oversized fire pit and oversized covered dock. The waterslide is always a favorite for the children and the adults love the Tiki bar. The home/dock is located on a safe and peaceful area on the lake. The little ones can swim right off the dock with very few waves and little boat traffic to worry about. Being just a minute from Norris Lake's most popular water hang out spot, 'the jumping bridge', is always a crowd favorite. Sugar Hollow Dock is just right around the corner. It is a big attraction as it has some of the best food on the lake and the night life is second to none with the oversized outdoor bar and famous Karaoke night and theme weekends.

Great summer getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 30, ranging in age from 1-77 had a wonderful time at happy hour! The house was spacious and well-equipped. We used the two grills a few times, which were great. We loved the 3 porches (one on each level). There was a bit of surprise on each one - some had tables and chairs, one had a lovely swing. We used the hot tub almost every evening and the fire pit once. We were surprised the lack of bugs with being the in middle of a wooded area. We brought 2 boats and 2 waverunners with us. I will mention that it is very steep in some places approaching the house. Luckily we towed the 2 boats with large trucks. The minivan with the waverunners had a tough time. We were disappointed the community pool was out of commission while we were there - it was small but looked nice and would have been fun for the kids to play in. The water is very deep at the dock - none of us could get near the bottom, so I would advise even the good swimmers to wear life jackets when floating around. We loved the location at the end of the inlet near the boat dock. There was no current and not too many boats in and out except on sunday.

The hardest part about the property (and all of them on the lake appear to be this way) is the stairs and incline. Due to the great incline, there really is nowhere to be outside except on the dock. The kids had hoped to play some lacrosse or football, but there is nowhere in the area that is flat enough to do so. There was a lot of stairs...102 I believe from the water to the main floor. We got around this by prepping before we went down for the morning or afternoon (water bottle, sunscreen, hat, book, etc), this reduced the number of trips up and down. We also used the boat ramp to bring some items, like coolers, down to the walking path level and then just had a few flights of stairs. Again, this is not unique to this property, it is all the houses on the lake, just wanted to share how it worked for us.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and feedback on Happy Hour. I am very happy that you liked our home and had such a wonderful time. Sorry about the steps, you are correct most of the houses at Norris Lake do have a lot of steps. One thing to clarify for the benefit of our readers is that we have 3 levels of house before you get to the back stairs leading to the dock. Most of the time when we are there we are going down to the dock from one of the lower levels. From the lower level of the house there are only about 50 steps to the lake with a walking path about 20 steps down and a long run of deck about 10 more steps from the walking path to break the climb up. I thought it was worth mentioning because many of the houses actually do have 100 plus steps from the house down. Thanks for taking the time to let us know how your stay was and we look forward to a return visit from you. Andrew

Excellent Home With Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

This is a large house that is well maintained! The dock is big, in good shape and is in a great no wake zone. Their is a grocery store and alcohol within a 12 minute drive. This house is in a great neighborhood and a 1 minute boat ride away from the popular jumping bridge. Their are 2 great marinas within a 5 minute boat ride of this house if you are looking to rent a boat. The house was large with two full sized kitchens, 2 grills hardwired with propane, 3 levels of large decks, a beautiful hot tub on its own level, large fire pit, washer/dryer, coffee makers etc. Keep in mind you will have no cell reception at this house. I am addicted to my phone and must say I enjoyed it not working! They have a lot of house phones that are included with free long distance. You can get reception by driving a few minutes away or getting on a boat and going out in the water. The house is well stocked with everything you would have at your home. The 2 kitchens were great as we had 22 people and each level did their own dinner every night. It was great having so many people but not feeling like we were crammed! The owner responded to all of our questions over text in a quick and timely manner. He was GREAT to work with! Thier are a lot of steps at this house but to be honest we enjoyed the exercise! We made a lot of family memories at this home!

Best Stay Yet

  • 5 of 5

After nearly 20 years of family trips to Lake Norris, Happy Hour was by far the nicest and most accommodating home we've stayed in. The house is spacious and well maintained and small touches such as board games were available and made for memorable family game nights. I highly recommend staying at Happy Hour.

Excellent place

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect house for our group. The dock was awesome with the water slide and tiki bar. The extra kitchen on the second floor was great for cooking for the size of our group. I would definitely say here again.

We wanted for nothing

  • 5 of 5

24 of us had an excellent time at Happy Hour. Two kitchens, ample space, great dock, excellent location. Vacation home kitchens, in my experience, tend to be under-stocked. Not so, here. Plenty of pots and pans, baking sheets, silverware. Can't say enough good things. The weather was perfect for our trip and we had a blast. Very relaxing, not too far from things you need (walmart, etc.), loved the many porches and hot tub. Also, master suite was excellent and had lots of things for babies (Pack and plays, booster seats, high chairs, baby gate, baby monitor, a few random toys) which was a huge bonus for us. Very helpful for our toddlers. The pull out chair in the master suite becomes a twin bed and the closet was big enough for a pack and play, so our whole family of four slept very comfortably there. Clean, lots of towels, etc. Thanks Andrew for a great time and all the help getting floor plans and everything in advance!

Welcoming 2017 at Happy Hour

  • 5 of 5

Happy hour is a great vacation home!!! We were 24 adults and 5 kids; ages from 5-76 years old and the house was comfortable for everyone's needs. Living areas are spacious as well as the bathrooms. My family loves to cook and having two fully equipped kitchens is super convenient when trying to cook for such large party. Everything was nice and clean when we arrived. The house offers a few relaxing spots; for us we enjoyed the swing off of the middle level deck with an amazing view and even though it was cold outside some of my family members took advantage of the jacuzzi. Kids enjoyed the game room and different board games that the house provided, it kept them busy and entertained; as well as the fire pit. Internet connection is slow which is something we were expecting; but at least we were still able to check social media, email, etc. There's no cell phone service; personally we enjoyed getting away from those (cellphones) for a few days and the house offers a landline which is convenient in case of any emergency. The house has a great location about 20 mins from LaFollette which is a small town but offers a few grocery stores, fast food, gas, etc. We enjoyed the challenging roads with some spectacular views. Because it was cold we were not able to use the dock or BBQ by the lake but we are looking forward to come back during the summer time to take advantage of all the outdoor activities the house has to offer. Every time I had a question before or during my stay Andrew was very quick to get back to me. Definitely recommend this house for any large family searching for a vacation home. My family and I really enjoyed our stay and we are looking forward to coming back SOON!!!

Located just 8 minutes from Downtown Lafollette and a short drive to I 75 in the very popular Lakeside Estates. This home offers year around water and sits on the 1044, this is the lowest and closest to the lake that the TVA will allow a home to be built. There are several miles of walking trials at the 1020 and around the mountain and neighborhood. Four of Norris Lake's most popular marinas are located just a few miles away and Springs Dock is only 5 minutes down the lake by boat.
