This is, without a doubt, a 5-star property. Having said that, it’s important to note that I’m using a different grading scale than I normally would. This isn’t a luxury home. The beds are hit or miss, the chair covers are stained, the pillows, comforters, and shams need replaced, and the sheets are a synthetic blend (microfiber, probably). There are some maintenance issues with the home, some areas of the house feel cluttered, the lighting is dim, it could use a fresh coat of paint to brighten things up, and the corners and baseboards need a thorough cleaning.
So why 5 stars? This VRBO is an EXPERIENCE.
The house itself is something out of a fairytale. The interior of the house is solidly built and extraordinary to behold, as you can see from the pictures. The house has high humidity and felt like a rainforest at times. It was a godsend for us. No eczema outbreaks or nosebleeds due to the dry Arizona air.
The outdoor spaces flow from one beautiful garden to the next, each filled with its own unique vibe, like different-themed rooms in a house (the small pond at the foot of the property dancing with minnows and tadpoles, the natural stone staircase winding up to the patio table and grill, the hammock nook bathed in dappled sunlight beneath a canopy of trees, the glass mosaic pathway meandering up the side of the house, the latticed bridge that leads to the rooftop lawn with stunning views, and more).
The peacocks were charming and came over every morning like clockwork. We learned that they eat mice and snakes, along with insects. Not just beautiful, but useful.
The hike to Frog’s Hollow was short, adventurous, and just the right amount of ruggedness for a cautious explorer. We didn’t see another soul on the path or in the canyon, and we must have explored that area half a dozen different times. If Frog’s Hollow was accessible by the public, it would be swarming with people. It’s THAT amazing. Do be on the lookout for snakes while on the path to the hollow, especially during dawn & dusk.
Communication was outstanding. Robin addressed any issues we had quickly and effectively, and Doug came over right away to assist us with a hot problem issue.
We count ourselves fortunate to have experienced Nature’s Inn.
