About Louise Baker
Woodpecker Barn is part of a complex of nine converted cottages that were built on a working farm in 2004. The current owners are siblings Louise Baker and James Mathews, who purchased Woodpecker Barn in October 2014, made aware of it's availability from a family friend. Louise was sports mad as a child and has carried that through her adult years, albeit conceding that motherhood is twice as challenging as any netball or athletics competition. A keen angler, James would spend everyday by the waters edge if circumstances would allow and does so even when they don't.

Why Louise Baker chose Totnes
Lovers of the outdoor life and restricted by the ever increasing concrete jungle that is the South East of England, they were looking for the perfect country getaway for their family and friends. No doubt you will enjoy your own 'Escape to the Country' as much as they do.
What makes this Barn unique
This property is on a complex which provides an indoor swimming pool, games room (pool table, table tennis, table football and other toys) and external children's play area.

Very comfortable, spacious property. High standard of decoration and facilities. Plenty of room for the 7 of us to spread out.
perfection for all the family
The barn was absolutely perfect for all ages of our family. So much thought has gone into providing comfort and entertainment for a perfect holiday home. Spotlessly clean, spacious, peaceful and equipped with everything you could possibly need. We will come again.
A very well equipped and comfortable cottage. We were a party of 7 ranging in age from 4 months to 85 years and the cottage suited us all. Games and videos for the 5 year old, pool toys in the pool, which was really enjoyed by the 5 year old, baby cribs for the baby and a couple of high chairs if we had needed them. Nice outdoor table and chairs although it wasn't warm enough for us to use them but we did put the barbecue to good use.
The beds were comfortable as were the living room sofas. Lovely big dining table in the kitchen area. I don't think we lacked for any kitchen equipment although it took a few attempts to sort out how to work the hob and oven - even with the instruction manual!
Louise responded quickly and fully to all emails and requests - she couldn't have been more helpful.
The road to the cottage is down a very narrow lane, which was a new experience for our American son-in-law! There were sheep and cows in the neighboring fields - it was very peaceful particularly as many of the other cottages were not occupied.
The large parking area is a short walk from the cottage.
Wonderful stay in beautiful house
Having moved to Mallorca 15 years ago (from the UK), we all, (grandparents, parents and teenagers) fancied a Christmas in the UK for a change. We carefully chose Woodpecker Barn and were all thrilled. We arrived to a wonderfully warm, cosy and welcoming house - complete with christmas tree and decorations. The barn was very clean and very comfortable. Plenty of space for all, the lounge with log fire was wonderful in the evenings, all played games and watched movies together. The kitchen/dining room was super, and Christmas dinner - cooked beautifully, nothing more we could have wished for. All the family slept well and the bathrooms were modern and clean with plenty of piping hot water.
The heated pool was fabulous. The location, set in wonderful countryside, sheep in the field next door greeted us each morning. Ipplepen village, and surrounding area very accessible.
We all loved it, all had a super stay, safely back in Mallorca now, planning our next visit! many thanks
A very comfortable barn conversion in a beautiful setting.
We travelled down to Devon as a family for the wedding of our niece. The cottage was lovely and warm and cosy after outings in the very wet and windy November weekend !! The facilities are excellent and we felt instantly at home. The only problem was that the hot water ran out after 4 of us had showered on the morning of the wedding. The next day we worked out how to keep the water hot for more than 4 showers!! We also had a lovely meal on the Friday evening at the local pub, The Wellington Arms. The Saturday was the wedding and on Sunday we enjoyed a day in Torquay as the rain had subsided. We would definitely think about visiting again in the summer for a longer break. Thank you to the owners for a great place to stay.
Lovely little break in a spacious barn
Nice clean and spacious accommodation. Lots of thoughtful touches such as wine and milk on arrival, dishwasher and washing tablets, loads of toys, books, games and dvds for the kids. Beds were comfy. Great on site facilities. It's just a shame we weren't there for longer really as there's so many places to explore in Devon. Thanks for having us.
