About this property

Angler's Dream-LUXURY WATER VIEW BEACH HOUSE near Inlet and Sunset Marina

*LOCATION! *LOCATION! *LOCATION! Skip the craziness of Coastal Highway and explore this hidden west Ocean City oasis -- a vacation community with atmosphere and high-end sophistication. This well-appointed home has 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a private elevator, two kitchens, lots of interior and exterior, private hideaways, a separate first floor apartment and priceless water views from every angle. Enjoy the home's peace and serenity from the inlet and the cool ocean breezes.

The house features an inverted floor plan, with the main living area -- a great room, dining room, kitchen, and powder room -- on the top floor. An elevator helps move your groceries and guests from floor to floor. The floor plan is especially accommodating for multi-generational families or groups.

The house has two full-sized, gourmet kitchens, one on the first floor and one on the top floor. Each kitchen contains a full-sized refrigerator, stove, microwave oven, and dishwasher, as well as a toaster, blender, coffee maker, and pots and pans, dishes and silverware.

*On the first floor: A one-bedroom, "private" apartment with its own separate, handicapped-accessible entrance and private deck. When the whole house is rented, the apartment door is unlocked, providing easy access to the rest of the house and the elevator. The full-sized kitchen, with eat-in bar, quartz countertops, refrigerator, electric stove, and dishwasher, is stocked with dishes and essential cooking utensils. The living area, which overlooks the private deck, includes a queen-sized sleep sofa, chairs, television, and ceiling fan.

The private bedroom has a queen-sized bed, end tables, dresser, chair, television, and ceiling fan. The newly renovated bathroom (fall 2024) has a walk-in shower and rain showerhead. Hardwood floors run throughout the kitchen, living area, and bedroom. For your convenience, there is a compact washer/dryer next to the bathroom.

Off the living room is a large, private, undercover deck with: sofa, coffee table, two chairs; and dining table with four chairs. The deck overlooks the marsh -- great for early morning coffee and bird watching.

Looking for a private space for grandparents; in-laws; au pairs; and boat captains? The first floor apartment meets that need!

*On the second floor: A luxurious master bedroom suite with king-sized bed, seating, and television awaits. The master bath, with tub and separate shower, was completely renovated in late 2024 to make it barrier free. The shower, with a rain showerhead, is open to the rest of the bathroom -- no door or floor barrier and is "walk-in" or "wheel-in" ready. The toilet area was widened; the door removed; and the threshold was expanded to make it barrier-free and accessible. The doorway from the bedroom to the bathroom also was expanded to make the room more accessible.

Adjoining the master bedroom is a large sitting room, from which you can enjoy views of the marsh, Ocean City Fishing Center marina, and Sinepuxent Bay. Make some coffee in the provided coffee maker, and enjoy your cup of brew on the adjacent private deck or in the large, cozy settee in the sitting room. There are hardwood floors throughout the master bedroom and sitting room, and each has a ceiling fan.

The two additional bedrooms on this floor (one bedroom features two twin beds; the other bedroom, a queen-sized bed) are decorated in nautical themes. Both have hardwood floors and share a bathroom (tiled tub/shower combination with rain showerhead) (renovated in late 2024), and a deck with views of Sunset Marina and seating for two.

A full-sized washer/dryer is located on this floor.

*On the top floor: The open floor plan features a spacious, great room with beautiful hardwood floors; loveseat with twin sleeper (new in 2024); large sectional sofa with full sleeper (new in 2024); ceiling fan; television; and gas fireplace. A round table near the built-in counter (with sink and compact refrigerator) provides a perfect spot for a friendly game of cards. The nearby console contains a variety of board games.

Sliding glass doors take you to the back deck overlooking the wetlands, whose views change with the tides. The back deck includes a full-sized table and seating (chairs and benches); charcoal grill; and cozy, inviting sectional with deep cushions. From the back deck, you can see the boats at OC Fishing Center, which features Mickey Finns, a restaurant overlooking the inlet.

The top floor kitchen features an electric stove; full-sized refrigerator; dishwasher; hardwood flooring; granite countertops; island with seating for two; eating nook with seating for three; and deck overlooking the Shark Restaurant, Sunset Marina, Assateague Island, and the inlet. The front deck includes a dining table with Lazy Susan, four chairs, and a gas grill.

The dining room, located between the kitchen and the great room, seats six, and has hardwood flooring and ample storage for dishes and serving pieces.

*An elevator takes you (and your luggage) from the first floor to the top floor (and in-between).

**The two-car garage plus driveway will accommodate at least four cars.

***We rent to adults 25 years or older.

****Walk to Sunset Marina, OC Fishing Center, and OC Fisherman's Marina. From the top floor kitchen, you can see boats leaving and entering Sunset Marina, which is about a 5-10-minute walk from Marsh Magic. Near Sunset Marina are a number of local restaurants, including: Sunset Grille; The Shark; Crab Alley; Harborside; and Sello's.

Close to Sunset Grille and The Shark, you can purchase fresh seafood from Martin's Fish Company and Sea Born Seafood to cook at home.

At the end of the street where Marsh Magic is located is a small beach, named "Homer Gudelsky Park," which overlooks the inlet and ocean, and the town of Ocean City.

In short, Marsh Magic offers a perfect location if you want to be close to the ocean without the crowds. It is a short walk or drive to nearby ocean beaches (including Ocean City and Assateague Island), and provides easy access to deep sea fishing excursions and opportunities to sample delicious fare at local restaurants.

***Long-Term Off-Season Availability: The first floor apartment may be rented separately during the off-season (October through April). The apartment, which has a separate entrance from the rest of the house, is ideal for a single adult or a couple.

The two top floors -- which include the great room, kitchen, dining room, three bedrooms (including the master suite) and two and a half baths -- also may be rented separately during the off-season.

About the host

Host profile image
I grew up near Ocean City and went to the beach there with my family for many years. I have many fond memories of my time there. I have since moved away to work in Washington, D.C. but return as often as possible to enjoy the ocean breeze, smell the salt air, and listen to the cry of the seagulls.

Traveling and exploring different countries and cultures is one of my favorite things to do. To date, I have traveled to over 90 countries and every continent, including Antarctica. Some of the artwork and decorations in Marsh Magic were acquired on my travels -- including from Australia, New Zealand, Croatia, Bali, the Maldives, France, Germany, Costa Rica, and Alaska.

Why they chose this property

Being near the water and within view of the boats in the nearby marinas makes Marsh Magic the perfect place for me to escape and relax when the stresses of life start to take their toll. I enjoy staying there when I need to get recharged.

In the mornings I like to stroll to the end of the street to "Homer Gudelsky Park" -- a beach located on the inlet. The beach attracts day fishermen and a few sunbathers and, while the current is too swift for swimming there, the beach is great if you just want to feel the sand between your toes and "commune with nature."

Located in the opposite direction from the beach are a number of restaurants -- just a short walk away. That means I never have to venture far to get a great meal.

What makes this property unique

Marsh Magic is within walking distance of several marinas -- most notably in west Ocean City: (i) Sunset Marina; (ii) Fisherman's Marina; (iii) OC Fishing Center; and in Ocean City proper -- (iv) the Talbot Street Pier. Even though I do not fish, it is relaxing to watch the boats navigate the surrounding waterways. From the front deck of Marsh Magic I enjoy checking out the 'mood' of the ocean; though not close enough to hear the waves crashing, I can see if the ocean is stirred up with whitecaps or if it is having a calm day. From the back deck I like to be 'entertained' by the marsh. Sometimes the marsh is a sea of green marsh grass; other times, when the tide is high, it literally is a sea (and during storms, there can even be waves!). The marsh attracts a variety of birds that come to feed there. It is fun to spot their white, gray, or brown plumage in contrast to the green marsh grass. It makes me feel that all is right with the world.
