Located inside the famed Beachwalk Resort in Michigan City, IN, The Lady May (formerly known as The Roses) is a three-story retreat made for memory-making. Big on space, long on comfort, and perfectly suited for multi-family vacations, reunions, or friend getaways, this home invites you to settle in, slow down, and stay awhile. With new ownership and planned winter 2026 renovations, The Lady May will be refreshed and ready to shine just in time for Spring 2026.

Inside the main home, you’ll find plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax. Multiple living spaces mean no fighting over the TV, while the fully equipped kitchen and generous dining area make meals together easy and fun. A wraparound screened-in porch is ideal for morning coffee or evening conversations, and the finished lower level adds even more hang-out space with a second living room, bar area, and games for all ages.

Need a little extra privacy? The separate guest house is a retreat all its own, complete with a kitchen, living room, full bathroom, and screened-in porch, perfect for quiet mornings, afternoon naps, or sunset sips.

Step outside and you’re in the heart of Beachwalk. Sip a cool drink while the kids play in Central Park just steps away, or explore the resort’s amenities at your leisure. Beachwalk Resort offers a seasonal heated pool and toddler pool, tennis, basketball, volleyball and bocce courts, shuffleboard, a putting green, the Sandcastle playground, and access to private Lake Kai for fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and swimming. A seasonal golf cart is also included to make getting around a breeze.

Just over an hour from Chicago and a short walk to Lake Michigan’s Sheridan Beach, you’ll also be close to Indiana Dunes National Park, Washington Park and Zoo, Blue Chip Casino, Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets, local breweries and wineries, and the International Friendship Gardens—plenty to explore, whether you’re craving adventure or a leisurely day out.

Seasonal resort amenities are available mid-May through September. During this time, parking passes ($5 each) and wristbands ($15 each) are required for all guests ages 4 and up. The Lady May rents with a 7-night minimum during peak season (mid-June to mid-August), with Friday check-in and check-out.

My husband and I took our kids/grandkids for the weekend, the guest services/check-in were the stars from start to finish. Always patient, friendly and helpful. The kids and their kids stayed in the main house, my husband and I stayed in the "guest" house, loved how convenient that was, allowed PaPa to handle his fantasy football draft with some much needed quiet. Would definitely visit this property again, kids loved the screened in porch, one said "I want to stay here forever" Plenty of room for people to have their own space yet areas where you could spend quality family time when you wanted to huddle as a family. Thanks for a wonderful weekend!

The feed from the condeser was frozen, and portable units were brought in to make the house livable. The staff was very nice, responded to our needs and came out the next day and fixed the problem.

The stove knob was broken. The microwave has a broken piece. The was a lack of towels and sheets. The Beachwalk workers did a good job of fixing the majority of issues, but the owners need to provide a better quality experience.

A short walk to the tennis court, cafe, pool and Lake Kai. It sits directly across from a park where we played daily wiffle ball! The wrap-around porch is amazing. The house and guest house easily accommodated our group of 14. There were multiple small issues with the house and the maintenance team was quick to respond. Overall, the home could benefit from a refresh all around but it is great of you don’t mind outdated appliances and fixtures.

Park is across the street and kids could enjoy the open space. Golf cart is a plus for older members of our family. We especially like the large screened porch. Grills were not in working condition. So make a plan B if your meals include a grill. Gas stove in main house didn’t work well-burners stayed on and “off” wasn’t always off. House was clean when we arrived. Furniture in tv room had a lot of stains. TV room is small. Lots of table space for eating indoors and table on the porch. We enjoyed severalgame nights at the tables. Fire pit area is very nice. Kitchen wellsupplies.

Our parents requested a vacation in Mi for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. While we didn’t end up in Michigan, Michigan City Indiana, was a beautiful alternative. We stayed at the colorful & vibrant Beachwalk Resort, which offered plenty of activities & charm. The home had a fantastic screened-in wraparound porch & fire pit. Our group of 15 fit comfortably, with a sibling group splitting the 3rd fl, 4 couples occupying 2nd fl, parents enjoying a main fl bedroom w/an attached bath & another couple occupying the guest house. Guest house was fully equipped w/its own amenities, though it has stairs. We contacted the resort after we left regarding an item left & they contacted the next day letting us know it was found.The location was convenient—just a 5 min drive to Washington Beach w/paid parking, easy access & another beach entrance was within walking distance, though a bit more of a trek. We also visited Indiana Dunes National Park, 20 mins away, 40 mins to vistor center. Essentials were nearby including Al’s Supermarket & firewood sold a block away. That said, there were a few downsides: kitchen was disorganized, some broken cookware, & only 1 of 4 grills worked (barely). Guest house lacked cookware but the main house had enough to share. The resort lake is best for kayaking, paddleboarding, ect not swimming but Lake Michigan’s beach is close!Overall this spacious home is great for lg groups, Wed stay again & w/some care & organization to the kitchen it would be better.

There are some tired mattresses and others that are in great shape. The gathering TV room is small but that works for our group. Has doors that close so the TV watchers are separated from the game players at the tables. Great table space for large group that includes tables on screened porch. No coffee maker for k-cups this year. Skillets were difficult to cook with as the coating was worn off and scratched. Can find anything you’ll need in the kitchen. Crib and pack n play available. High chair and booster seat for the little ones needed a big scrub down this year. The large screened porch is a favorite feature for our group. The location is one of the best at Beachwalk. We have stayed in 5 other homes through the years. The bedroom set up works great for our family. Enjoyed our stay and plan to be back at The Roses next year.

Vacation at the Roses

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house offered great space in a wonderful location. The grandkids loved having their third floor bedroom and bathroom. The porch was a favorite resting spot but make sure you wear flip flops as the porch floor is quite dirty. And take shoes off before entering the house to avoid spreading the dirt. We loved boing across from the Central Park where the kids loved to play and in easy walking distance to the pool. The kitchen had plenty of dishes for our group of 18 and two dishwashers was really helpful. Plenty of comfortable beds and clean bathrooms. We enjoyed the nice fire pit area and the golf cart. We had some problems with the Rose bud apartment above the garage, finding a gas leak from the stove and dryer several days into the trip. It was addressed promptly but both had to be turned off so the family staying there left a few days early. We were reimbursed for two days for that apartment. The staff throughout the complex and main office over the phone were polite and helpful. The facilities throughout the resort were well maintained and so enjoyable for all of our family members. I highly recommend Beachwalk for families wanting to have a fun filled vacation.

The accommodations were perfect with enough bedrooms, bathrooms and common spaces for everyone. The activities provided by the resort appealed to all ages so that everyone could stay engaged and active or just relax. Having a golf cart made simple trips to the beach all that more fun! The staff is attentive and helpful.

This year our house was not cleaned properly before we arrived. Also Several light bulbs were burned out when we arrived and other items needed maintenance.
