Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Our large, recently renovated, B&B-like house sits on a knoll overlooking Keuka Lake with an extraordinary view, especially at sunset. We have 120 feet of lake front with a large private beach with a dock, grill, table, chairs and an excellent swimming area.

The house is nearly 2,000 square feet. We added two bathrooms as well as a laundry room. The very well-equipped kitchen is modern with a new dishwasher as well as a UV water filter and garbage disposal.

We offer great offseason rates for our 4-season home. In the fall, weekends are $700 (plus cleaning/linen fee and tax). Mid-week nights are $225. In late fall (after Oct. 28) weekends are $500. Mid-week nights are $150. From December through March, weekends are just $350. Midweek nights are just $125.

We are near numerous wineries, most of which stay open on weekends through the winter. In the spring you can often hear the sound of the creek flowing at the edge of our property. In the fall, the color around the lake is spectacular. In the winter, our house has central heat and a gas-burning fireplace in the den. The view out our new picture windows is fabulous. We are less than an hour from Bristol Mountain Ski Area.

From our covered porch you can enjoy the ever-changing light off the lake. You can walk or bike the access road in front of our house, perhaps hiking up one of canyons into the hills above the lake, to some extraordinary waterfalls. You can walk or bike the trail that connects Keuka and Seneca Lakes. Or fish -- the area near our house is known as one of the best bass fishing areas in the Finger Lakes.

There are three good-sized bedrooms and two full bathrooms upstairs, including a 225-square-foot master bedroom. All three bedrooms have lake views as well as air conditioners. There is a full bed in one, a queen in the second and two twin beds plus a full futon in the third. We have two roll-away beds plus many baby items such as a travel crib/bassinet.

The den downstairs can be closed off and has a new convertible full sofa. There is a new half bath on the first floor.

The front of the house is a covered porch with Adirondack chairs and a teak dining table. There is also a covered flagstone patio off the driveway.

About Tim Saasta

One thing we've learned from decades of renting and now owning vacation rental houses is that perhaps the most important factor is whether the owner uses the house regularly. We do. We love the house and the area. We spend a lot of time at the house during the offseason, working on it and enjoying it. It's also a great place to write, which is part of my job.

When owners use a house for more than a week in the summer, they make sure the kitchen is well equipped. They make sure everything works and is comfortable. You don't want your sister-in-law complaining about the beds!

They also add to the house over time, as we have done even after the initial renovation. We love the land and we've spent tons of time getting it as beautiful as it is. There's more to do but it's been gratifying to see it come back to life over time.

Tim Saasta purchased this house in 2007

Why Tim Saasta chose Dundee

We were introduced to Keuka Lake 20 years ago by friends in Rochester. We kept coming back. We bought this house with our friends because it had spectacular potential. Restoring this house -- built as early as the 1840s -- has been a ton of work, but worth it.

What makes this house unique

The sunset view. The secluded pebble beach. The house. The covered porch. Biking/walking along East Lake Rd. The area. The view.

Great Stay at Keuka

  • 4 of 5

The house is like walking into your own private bed and breakfast. Very comfortable, well kept and clean. We spent little time inside as the porch was the best place to be. We had a wonderful week for our family gathering and perfect weather. I would definitely recommend this house. Tim is great. I contacted him A-Lot with questions about the house, dock and surrounding area and he responds immediately. The walk down the hill to the water was a little steep for my Father but no problem for anyone else, and their lake front is very private. It amazed me that there are so many houses around the lake and yet we never heard a peep from anyone, It's as quiet as if your the only one there. We'll go back, maybe next year a trip in the Fall.

A Wonderful Week on the Lake

  • 5 of 5

The lake house was a great location for our week long family reunion. We enjoyed the lake views while sitting on the porch, spending time swimming/floating/paddling in the lake and a wine tour. We would definitely recommend this lake house to our friends and family!

Superb Location

  • 4 of 5

We had an amazing stay at this lake house. It was in such a great location in relation to the wineries and the surrounding towns around lakes Keuka and Seneca. The place was very comfortable, well-stocked, and clean. The only thing I would change is maybe have another queen size bed in one of the other rooms as a double bed is really tight for most couples. Our dog loved the house! We really love the quiet street of East Lake Road where we can go for walks without fearing for our lives (being run over). The views of the lake were spectacular --- almost in every room of the house! I would definitely recommend this place and would even consider coming back next time!

Owner's Response: We agree and we've ordered a new queen mattress for the south bedroom; it will be there in early August. We couldn't get a traditional queen mattress up the 1840s stairwell. Even the full mattress had to be brought in when we put in new windows. But foam mattresses in a box have gotten good and we'll be able to get one up to the second floor.

Girls' weekend

  • 5 of 5

Our group of seven women rented this property for a girls' weekend in April. We all commented on how comfy we felt in this home. Everything was as described. Tim was very easy to work with and we would definitely rent from him again. The weather was not beautiful, but that did not dampen our fun. Having our coffee with the view of the lake was quite a relaxing way to start our days of wine and brewery tasting. It is a peaceful location. Thanks Tim for sharing your home!
