Property description

Our large, recently renovated, B&B-like house sits on a knoll overlooking Keuka Lake with an extraordinary view, especially at sunset. We have 120 feet of lake front with a large private beach with a dock, grill, table, chairs and an excellent swimming area.

We offer great offseason rates for our 4-season home. In late fall weekends are just $500 for two nights, $650 for three. Midweek nights are just $150 in October and November. After Dec. 1 and before April 15, weekends are just $350 for two nights. Midweek nights are just $125.

We do not process payments through this website. As a result, our renters do not pay this website's new fee on renters.

We are near numerous wineries, most of which stay open on weekends through the winter. In the spring you can often hear the sound of the creek flowing at the edge of our property. In the fall, the color around the lake is spectacular. In the winter, our house has central heat and a gas-burning fireplace in the den. The view out our new picture windows is fabulous, especially in winter when the trees have lost their leaves. We are less than an hour from Bristol Mountain Ski Area.

From our covered porch you can enjoy the ever-changing light off the lake. You can walk or bike the access road in front of our house, perhaps hiking up one of canyons into the hills above the lake, to some extraordinary waterfalls. You can walk or bike the trail that connects Keuka and Seneca Lakes. Or fish -- the area near our house is known as one of the best bass fishing areas in the Finger Lakes.

The house is nearly 2,000 square feet. We added two bathrooms as well as a laundry room. The very well-equipped kitchen is modern with a new dishwasher as well as a UV water filter and garbage disposal.

There are three good-sized bedrooms and two full bathrooms upstairs, including a 225-square-foot master bedroom. All three bedrooms have lake views as well as air conditioners. There is a full bed in one, a queen in the second and two twin beds plus a full futon in the third. We have two roll-away beds plus many baby items such as a travel crib/bassinet.

The den downstairs can be closed off and has a new convertible full sofa. There is a new half bath on the first floor.

The front of the house is a covered porch with Adirondack chairs and a teak dining table. There is also a covered flagstone patio off the driveway.

About the owner: One thing we've learned from decades of renting and now owning vacation rental houses is that perhaps the most important factor is whether the owner uses the house regularly. We do. We love the house and the area. We spend a lot of time at the house during the offseason, working on it and enjoying it. It's also a great place to write, which is part of my job. When owners use a house for more than a week in the summer, they make sure the kitchen is well equipped. They make sure everything works and is comfortable. You don't want your sister-in-law complaining about the beds! They also add to the house over time, as we have done even after the initial renovation. We love the land and we've spent tons of time getting it as beautiful as it is. There's more to do but it's been gratifying to see it come back to life over time.

Why the Owner Chose Dundee, NY, USA:
We were introduced to Keuka Lake 20 years ago by friends in Rochester. We kept coming back. We bought this house with our friends because it had spectacular potential. Restoring this house -- built as early as the 1840s -- has been a ton of work, but worth it.
