Includes washer/dryer, WIFI, & air conditioning. 1 acre property has a bonfire ring and furnished indoor/outdoor patios. We are located in Bayfield County WI just blocks from downtown Washburn's & Lake Superior's Chequamegon Bay. Ideally located to enjoy all four seasons of northwoods & lake life during your vacation. Truly your home away from home in quiet Washburn Wisconsin. Come stay and relax…you’re on lake/trail time!
Only 12 miles from Bayfield, Wisconsin, Madeline Island Ferry & the Apostle Islands.
Driftwood Cottage is tucked in the small quiet town of Washburn Wisconsin, nested between the Chequamegon National Forest and Lake Superior’s Chequamegon Bay. Just recently renovated using red oak hardwood flooring and whitewashed reclaimed cedar ceilings, this 1,400 square foot, 3 bedroom, 1 ½ bath cozy cottage is full of charm and quirky vintage decor. In the fully stocked kitchen you will find white carrera marble countertops, northwood birch kitchen cabinets, and a beautiful hand built farm table.
Other special highlights include a unique living room pallet wall made from reclaimed hardwoods where you can relax and put your feet up after a long day exploring the great outdoors. Access to Netflix on the flat screen TV is provided for those cozy nights you want to spend inside! Enjoy gathering around the dining room table for supper where afterwards you will find a cupboard stocked with dozens of board games and puzzles.
Our nearly one acre property has a bon-fire ring with adirondack chairs as well as an outdoor patio complete with a comfortable wrought iron dining table and seating for 6. If ATVing is your passion you can access ATV routes and trails directly from our property. Even if it rains, our indoor patio is the perfect space to curl up with a good book and watch the whitetail deer come to feed from our crabapple tree at dusk.
Just a short walk into town, you can enjoy several local eateries offering wood fired pizza, irish scotch eggs, locally caught fish fry, homemade seasonal soups, and fresh baked breads. We even have a local brewery with a tasting room. While in town, enjoy the Washburn walking trail which stretches along 1.34 miles of Lake Superior’s Chequamegon Bay shorelines. Here you will discover 3 sandy beaches where you can look for beach glass and driftwood, or just simply watch the sunrise. This is also a perfect place to fill up your water bottle from the artesian well, put your sea kayak in the water and take in the views of sandstone cliffs. Make sure to stop by our town’s quaint shops including sweets, local art, antiques, books, local pottery, and handmade jewelry just to name a few.
Winter in our area is something you will never forget with plenty of snow packed trails for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, winter hiking, biking, and snowmobiling. Directly from our property you can access the snowmobile trailhead, just blocks away. Here you can explore over 600 miles of groomed snowmobile trails and forest roads which take you through the Chequamegon National Forest trails as well as the famous Tristate corridor trail system. Don’t forget to try out snowshoeing in our local nature center located just outside of town. When the bay here on Lake Superior freezes over it’s time for ice fishing, hiking the trails, and fat tire cycling to see the ice caves.
Driftwood Cottage in Washburn Wisconsin: Come, Stay, Relax : )
PLEASE NOTE:. This cozy cottage is comfy, super clean, and adorable. 3 bedrooms are on second story and are in close proximity to each other. These are not large bedrooms. 2 rooms have bifold doors, the twin beds room has an accordion door as the room divider. Again, please don't be surprised that they are not master suites. Space is perfect for a close family and/or adults who actually enjoy spending time together and are not looking for total privacy from noise. 1400 SQUARE FOOT SPACE INCLUDES LIVING ROOM, DINING ROOM, EAT IN KITCHEN, LAUNDRY//SITTING ROOM, 1.5 BATHS, AND 3 BEDROOMS. NOT LARGE BEDROOMS!

About the host
Hosted by Sheryl Oksimowicz
We just finished up our fourth year of hosting at Driftwood Cottage. 8 years ago we purchased this small home "Way Up North" as a way to be closer to our transplanted daughter, son-in-law, and grandbabies. For 2 years we spent both summers, all school breaks, every work vacation, and many long weekends turning this labor of love into our Home Away From Home/Vacation Rental!
Some of our most memorable projects were tearing out shag carpet (thank you to our son-in-law!), replacing all the old drop ceilings with whitewashed reclaimed cedar, building a pallet wall (50th Bday gift..thank you to my husband!), collecting vintage pieces for the breezeway shelves, and combing the Washburn beaches for driftwood with our youngest daughter and turning them into a father fish/daughter fish wall art piece for her father's day gift!
I still can’t believe that so much work could bring so much joy! Please be our guests. We are confident that you will fall in love with Driftwood Cottage’s charm and quirky vintage decor. Ideally located to enjoy all four seasons of Northwoods & lake life during your vacation. Driftwood Cottage in Washburn Wisconsin: Come, Stay, Relax : )
