About this property
Casita Pequena Efficiency Apartment
This downtown efficiency apartment is across the street from the Taos Plaza. It is on the "Garden Street" of Taos on a little one block street with shops, restaurants and four of my Vacation Rental apartments. The Town Parking Lot across the street after years of free parking has begun to charge an hourly parking fee. I now suggest guests use Church Parking Lot on the corner for only $5 per day. Town Lot across the street is always free after 6 and on Sunday. The kitchen area includes a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffee maker and toaster as well as dishes and glassware for two. The Reading Nook has a comfortable chair, reading light and a variety of Vacation Books. The dining area is an antique table with two chairs complete with placemats and cloth napkins. Opaque blinds offer privacy yet allow our wonderful Taos light to come in. The main room has a ceiling fan, operable transom window and a dutch door for summer use. In winter months there is a gas log stove and even a heated electric mattress pad. Please operate gas log stove ONLY with wall thermostat. NEVER turn off main gas line. The hallway has hooks for hanging clothing with two guest robes provided. There is a dresser for clothes at the foot of the bed. I love the bathroom! It has a tiled shower with random tiles and is bright and colorful. I provide thick towels, soaps, shampoo, hair dryer and other miscellaneous bath supplies. There is a ceiling fan for ventilation and a small space heater. This apartment as well as all the buildings on the street was built in the 1880's so thick walls keep it cool in summer and easy to keep warm in the winter. 14" thick walls will do that. Also it ensures quiet even though right downtown. I operated this space as a small retail shop until I realized my true passion was Vacation Rentals. I love to remodel, furnish and decorate for my many guests. I now have 11 Taos Rentals. Everything from this efficiency to one bedroom apartments and houses as well as two and three bedroom homes. As with all of my rentals I am dog friendly and provide dog sheets to cover bed. I charge a per night per dog which you may add when booking. I offer a 50% discount for bookings over 30 days. I provide wireless high speed internet with the user name and password posted by the dining table. All of this at a great location, reasonable rates, amenities galore and shopping in your own private space! Come visit and enjoy Casita Pequena for a short stay.

Really loved this cute/quirky place and had great location in Taos, easy walking distance to everything but still not much traffic noise being just off the main square. Bed was very comfortable too (more so than most other places we've rented in the past) and paid city lot across the street wasn't a problem since we happened to be staying only Sat night, before Sunday free parking.
This is our third time to stay at one of Melissa‘s properties in the past two months. We enjoy how close it is to the plaza. Her properties are super cute!
The casita was so cute and a great location when it comes to walking to anything accessible. Very close to good restaurants, coffee and even a grocery. The big drawback for us was it was on a main road, so Very loud with traffic. Lots of loud engines, abruptly revving, late into the night. It was almost impossible to sleep, except from about 2-6am. Having to shuffle cars from one lot to another because of one parking lot only being until 8am (overnight), and another from 8-night time was a frustration. No chance to sleep in once finally asleep. Another ebb was thinking it was a kitchenette, but no sink for that little space, so kind of weird to have to get water from the bathroom sink and washing a dish or two was fine, but it wouldn't work if you were there more than a day or two or just ate out for every meal. It was, however a darling place. Pet friendly and easy to check in. The locals were friendly and area was wonderful.

I’m going to preface this by saying we are a senior couple traveling by car with a small dog - so that really colors the success of our staying here.
First of all, the location is great. You are literally 100 yards from the Taos Square. Parking is not bad, there’s a city lot immediately in front of the apartment. The apartment is exactly as advertised. It’s small but very cute and has a totally authentic Taos/Santa Fe vibe.
So here’s the deal - if you are traveling lite, without much luggage/gear and you will be eating out every meal, you’ll find this place great. For us, with two big suitcases and all the dog gear it was a bit small. And, with the dog, we are usually look for take out to eat in the room. The good news with this apartment is that there are two great restaurants on the same block, just a bit cramped eating in the room and no good way to deal with dirty dishes.
This quaint abode is so cozy and comfortable!! Perfect for one person!!! It has such personality! The location is perfect! Walking distance to the Plaza and so much more. I will definitely be back to this location or one of Melissa’s other VRBOs. This is the second location I have stayed in that Melissa owns.

I stayed for a week with my boyfriend and our dog. I would have appreciated this info before booking. First I’ll start with the pros:PROShistoric adobe building, very coollocation, everything is walkableparking was actually pretty easy to figure outcheck in was easyquirky fun decor CONSblinds don’t cover the windows fully and bed faces them. Sun is blinding in the morning. We didn’t sleep well the whole trip. A privacy screen or full blind coverage would have been the biggest game changer.Dusty condition overall. Didn’t feel super clean.Shower curtain was one of the flimsy ones that sticks to your body if you get too close. Cramped shower, difficult to shave legs if that matters to youNowhere to hang clothes on hangers. Instead of the shelving with decorations, why not an armoire with hangers for guests clothes? Lots of decor taking up space but not many functional things like an iron, etc. A small TV would be nice— on the mantle of the fireplace or something. Or at least some board games available if TV isn’t doable. Overall wouldn’t stay a second time. Def not for an extended stay. We don’t need a lot of space or a kitchenette, but it just wasn’t comfortable or a place we enjoyed hanging out in at night after full days adventuring around Taos.
