My husband and I and our two children (infant and toddler) came out to this cabin from Fort Benton as a Thanksgiving/birthday getaway (my 40th fell on Thanksgiving Day!) and we couldn't have picked a better place. The cabin itself was clean and comfortable, with great cabin decor and lots of interesting books. My husband and I took advantage of the hot tub every night, and afternoons while the kids were napping, and it was sparkling clean and the water was always hot. The hot tub has a really heavy, insulated cover, which is great (especially if you are worried about a climbing toddler), although I probably couldn't open it myself, so keep that in mind if you are traveling alone. My husband could open it himself, though. The bedroom had a comfortable bed, and there was also a memory foam mattress pad for the pullout sofa bed which made it the most comfortable pullout bed ever. All the bed linens, towels and pillows were high quality. There was a pillow for any kind of sleeper! We loved having the fenced yard - perfect for a toddler and our dog, and the bar next door was also great. We walked over for the free Thanksgiving dinner, which was so generous, and we also got takeout a couple times and the food was delicious. The bar itself seemed like a great place to hang out, and if we had been traveling without the kids, we would have stayed for a few. It seemed that every time we walked in the jukebox was blasting Lynyrd Skynyrd, which we loved, but you can't hear the jukebox from the cabin, in case you are worried about noise. The area is my favorite - there is so much to do, from exploring Lion Lake and Hungry Horse Reservoir, to the distillery a mile down the road, to the award winning dog park in Whitefish, and all the breweries in the area. We had fun getting lunch at the breweries and then bringing a growler back for our afternoons hanging out in the hot tub. I can't say enough good things about this place. Greg was really nice, and basically just left us alone, which we also appreciated. We had a little bit of trouble with the thermostat (it needed an occasional jiggle to kick in), and we replaced some batteries in the remotes, but I'm sure Greg would have handled all that if we had asked. None of it was a big deal. All in all, I would recommend this cabin to anyone. Thanks Greg! We really appreciated the cabin and all the little finishing touches.
We truly enjoyed our stay in this charmingly inviting cabin. We were greeted with a warm fire and soft music, a welcome respite from a driving rain. The bed is very comfortable, kitchen well-equipped, and location ideal. We did not have any issues with noise from the bar or road. The hot-tub was a nice touch. Did not use the outside TV since we are technically challenged with remote control devices, but I am sure Greg would gladly have explained it had we asked. He was very gracious, and flexible when we requested to arrive a day early. The cabin's proximity to Glacier NP is awesome. All in all, this was a great place to stay at a good price. Thanks Greg!
Unfortunately, HomeAway doesn't allow edit on reviews so instead I'll write second review with an update on our situation. We were finally able to get a hold of Greg and resolve the overcharge. He has offered a prompt refund for the extra night we were charged. We appreciate his friendly demeanor and his help in resolving this.
First off, there is a noticeable smoker smell throughout the cabin. It leeches on to everything you own and makes everything smell smoky. I also noticed that nearly every appliance, container and cabinet in the kitchen has a sticky grime on it requiring you to wash your hand after touching or using anything. The propane tank for the grill was empty and the hot tub was filled with bugs. Which we could have called about but with such a short stay we opted to use the stovetop instead and deal with the bugs. The water pressure of the "double shower head" was equivalent to the pressure of leaky water jug making showering a laborious task. The heat was overwhelming in the bedroom so we had to sleep in the living room to keep cool. Despite that, we put on our happy face and made the most of it and managed to enjoy our trip for the most part.
The location was excellent and price was reasonable. Also, Greg is very personable and friendly in person. However, I would not call this "luxurious cabin" by any means.
Our last day there, we realized we were charged for an extra night. Greg told us he'd refund us the for the extra night. Well, it's now August (well over a month since our trip in June) and we are still waiting for our refund. We have called him, texted him, and emailed him with no avail. This is EXTREMELY poor customer service and very frustrating for us!
Thanks for providing such a great spot to stay. The cabin is perfect for two and is so well thought out and well supplied. It was hot so nighttime hot tubs were out - but early mornings were perfect.
My husband and I stayed here for 10 nights...absolutely awesome. This cabin is great...has all you will ever need and then some! Every appliance imagineable! Our host was super friendly and went out of his way to make sure our trip was wonderful. We are from Louisiana and had never been to this area of Montana before. In just a matter of days we felt like we belonged here! It was unbelieveable to sit in the fabulous hot tub with snow falling as we watched the football game while the grill was going! The establishment next door was great! The food/ drinks were awesome, but the people were even more wonderful! We will definately be back to this warm, cozy, comfortable cabin...even if we have to change our vacation times to accomodate scheduling! I highly recommend this property to anyone. Greg is very friendly and very knowledgable about the surrounding area. And people talk about "Southern Hospitality"...well, they sure have plenty here! We were even invited to share Thanksgiving with them! We actually felt "homesick" when we returned to Louisiana! A huge thanks to Greg for making our dream vacation into a reality! We miss you guys and wish you all a very Merry Christmas! Hope to see you this spring/summer. We would not consider staying anywhere else! Thanks again!!
