Awesome Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying here. We caught grouper on artifical plugs and had fun swimming at the springs. The cabin was very nice and the views were amazing! The owner was very polite and helpful. We will definitely be back again!

The furnishings are dated, the sleeping accommodations are poor, the linens are of poor quality, the dishes are inadequate, the grill is disgusting, the towels are limited for the number of guests the property can accommodate, and feel like sand paper. DO NOT use their dock unless you have a flat bottom boat or you will be replacing your prop, the water from this property to the scallop beds is approximately 1 - 1.5 feet deep. The furnishings are dated, and of poor quality. Word of advice - take pictures of the interior and exterior for damage, we found damage to the exterior upon our arrival and the owner then blamed the damage on me, and withheld a portion of our deposit.

Owner's Response: Wow - I simply notified my tenant that there was some damage reported by my property manager and that I would let him know as it was assessed . . he immediately threatened with bad reviews & google slander (I have not even made repairs yet or reported damage). He did send me a photo of him shucking scallops on the wood deck just outside the main slider into my house, which took my maid a lot of extra time & effort to clean upper & lower decks - who does this? All my reviews are excellent, the previous tenant rebooked for next year already . . There should be more protection for owners from the extortion of mean spirited reviews.

Great Memorial Day getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Nautical Cabin in Homosassa Spring. The house has everything you could ask for and the location is "Super". There was lots of wild life to see from Manatee's swim by each morning to Otters checking the crab traps each afternoon along with several different types of bird. (Thanks for the bird book) While out on the water we had Dolphin feeding just in front of our boat feeding. A trip to the Springs is a must during your stay! Seagrass Waterfront is a very relaxing place to grab a bite to eat after the spring. Don't let this one pass you by....if you want to relax. The porch has rocking chairs that will help you forget all you have left behind with the absolute quite.

Thanks Masters Family.

Reflections from an old salt (58 and still going)

  • 4 of 5

A native southerner and coastal veteran (as a child lived on the beach at Myrtle Beach), seen my share of marine weather, a good thing cause on our first full day a low pressure gulf westerly blew in and water blasted the area real good (the cove neighbor came in the next day who lives on a nearby island, uses this property as a supply port) said his weather station recorded 55+ continuous winds, after a few more rainy sessions the weather turned nice. The mornings you're wakened by Lone-some George, the Pigeon Dove, calling out for a girl friend that never seems to come, and you'll likely see Sam the Eagle perched on the power pole behind the jetty palms. Had a mother bottle-nose Dolphin and her juvenile youngster come into the cove searching for fish and a Manatee feeding on the seaweed just feet off the sea wall. In the evenings after the boat traffic settles down (more of this latter), the numerous Whippoorwill's with their long lone-some songs will lure you sleep on the upper deck (be sure to have the "Skeeter" spray handy, you'll need it). The shore fishing a bit disappointing with mostly Hard-head catfish keeping you busy, although the occasional large Gaff Topsail catfish will give you a spirited fight. I did catch a dinosaur sized long nose Gar to large for my net and had to drag it on shore (I should have just cut the line for safety sake but didn't want to lose my hook, these things are Barracuda dangerous and great care needs to be taken). the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is approx. a hundred feet or so off the sea wall is a major highway for recreational boats (sometimes the traffic is non-stop and always loud, specially the air boats), with apparently NO Speed limit. If you bring a boat to tie off to the dock you'll also need a lot of bumper cushions to keep it from banging to death. All in all this was a very nice place to unwind and would recommend it. P.S.- Be sure to visit Neon Leon's restaurant for your inner Cajun, the food is good and reasonably priced with a pleasant deep south atmosphere.

Awesome Spring Break Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at this wonderful nautical cabin during our daughters spring break this year. The cabin was perfect for our family (2 kids 7 & 3) in a great location & had everything you needed. Seeing the view of the water each day was absolutely beautiful and there was the perfect amount of excursions to explore and play with our kids. We definitely recommend this location for a great destination for all ages!!! Thank you again,

David, Michelle, Alaina & Julia

If you're into Nature - This is the place for you

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 2 months at the Nautical Cabin. Every morning began with an eagle sighting, and great shore birds. Some days included dolphins and otters, and even a manatee or two. The view truly was spectacular with amazing sunsets. The kayaking was terrific. A very quiet and friendly neighborhood and comfortable accommodations made it a perfect retreat that we have booked again for next year. The only down side is that the time flew and we did not rebook early enough for next year to get a longer stay. Hey Jeff, if you ever want to sell it, call us. My husband and I had a great experience and look forward to coming back.
