A beautiful location! My fiancé and I came to the River House to elope and loved the scenery and space! Sue was a wonderful hostess and was so kind with our elopement! The amenities are great as well! Highly recommend coming here! We hope to come back!

Me and my wife, son and Daughter-n-law had the best time at the River house! Sue and Joe are fantastic host and very knowlegable about the area and was a real bonus for us Floridians! For sure going to re book asap and finally found a summer place on a regular basis! God Bless

Property was all we could have asked for. Pet accessible and Pet friendly. We saw lots of the local wildlife up close. Bald Eagles, Deer, Sea Otters.The host family is very friendly and we loved our stay.

Stay here! You’ll have the best time watching eagles, kayaking, and relaxing. Low tide and high tide is fascinating to watch. Close enough to visit all the parks and sights if you want to leave the house at all. The house is unique and very well equipped for any potential needs. Joe and Sue are amazing humans if any problem should arise. The River House is secluded and feels like dream. Enjoy meals on the screened in porch, croquet or a fire at dusk. We will be back, maybe forever.

This was a wonderful property in a beautiful setting on the Penobscot River. We saw bald eagles, owls, a fox, deer, and more. It was comfortable and homey.

Summer getaway

A charming house in a very quiet, secluded area but still only 15 minutes from shopping and restaurants. The house was clean and very well appointed. The welcome basket with local treats and snacks was a nice touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the River House and will definitely return.

Summer Stay

Our stay at the River House was truly perfect. We had visits from owls every night, had scavenger hunts in the wooded paths, lounged for hours on the dock and jumped in the river. It was also close enough to explore Acadia National Park and the neighboring cities. The house was beautiful and clean and Sue, the host, was great!

Lovely view

The house was so clean and peaceful upon arrival and I really appreciated that everything we needed was already there! Very doable drive for day trips to bar harbor and acadia, about an hour. By far, best part was the beautiful river view. Thanks so much for a lovely stay!

Unique Private River House Beauty Relaxation

Beautiful & restful, yet close enough to take beautiful drives to various locations; small town feeling & safe; very close to Bangor. Joe & Sue were wonderful property hosts! We stayed a week, and we quickly realized that we wished we could've stayed longer! We really enjoyed celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary while staying at this beautiful River House and location❗️❤️

Breathtaking River Views!

We had a wonderful time at the River House. Everything was perfect, especially the million dollar view of the river! Susan makes every effort to make her guest's feel comfortable. The home is tastefully decorated and the yard is absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend this home!

What a beautiful house with great river views and all the creature comforts one could want. Incredibly thoughtful host, from offering to turn on lights in case we arrived late, to putting out dog bowls filled with water for the pup, to a lovely welcome basket and vase of flowers. Life at the River House

The River House was a great place to stay and everything we could hope for. The view of the river was awesome and the hosts were terrific! They asked us over for a BBQ and boat ride which was great and there immediate response to our questions was fantastic! The central location in Maine gave us easy access to awesome hikes in Baxter, Acadia, state parks, and other places. Bangor is just a very short drive away. We would definitely stay here again.

Temporary Home

River House has most beautiful views of river and spring season comes to life! Sue is incredibly resourceful and helpful. The house is quirky and fun and kids were fascinated. Grandkids ask if we can go to Round House again.
