Hidden Valley Lodge is a renovated historic church in a unique secluded bush setting with panoramic views overlooking the lake and mountains on our farm surrounding the shores of Lake Poerua.

Walk ten minutes through the farm down to the lake, swim at the beach. Wood-fired hot tub. Abundant brown trout fishing with other lakes and rivers only minutes drive away. 10 minutes to Lake Brunner for boating and year-round fishing. Ideal central base for West Coast exploration. Cosy Woodsman log burner. Free use of 4 kayaks,one Canadian canoe. 20 minutes to Moana garage, hotel/pub, restaurant/cafe, grocery store.15 minutes to Mitchells Hotel, Lake Brunner bar /restaurant.
Five ski fields within 90 minutes drive.
Come and view the magical glow worm cave up a bushtrack behind the hot tub and the "faerie dell" up another track on the farm.
Two night minimum stay.
Cellphone coverage , no TV or wifi.
Special conditions:
smoking allowed outside only
absolutely no pets we want to protect the kiwis and wekas.

Getaway Weekend

Absolutely loved staying at this accommodation! Beautiful building with great windows to show off the stunning views of the lake. We really enjoyed the whole process of setting up and using the hot tub. Great location - close to Moana Lake Brunner. We had a wonderful relaxing weekend and made lots of wholesome memories. Thank you for having us :)

Peace and quiet

Absolutely amazing property, loved the history of getting this old church moved from Lake Brunner. The owners were so easy to contact and they had good info of everything in the area. Very clean and very cozy with a wood fire. The bird life was amazing..especially the Wekas, they were so friendly and comical. I highly reccommend this property. Thank you so much for an awesome stay.

Stunning

We had an amazing time; it was beautiful, incredibly well equipped, and the place was perfect for a getaway. The house did get quite hot and there are a lot of biting bugs so mozzie repellant and light clothing is a must. We loved the weka wandered through the yard and the glowworms were beautiful

Our 3rd Visit….!!!!

The fact that this is our 3rd time of staying here (2014, 2022, 2024) we think says it all! Lovely, comfortable and cosy. We are getting a ‘bit long in the tooth ‘ now for the long journey from the UK, but we do hope to return. Unfortunately, we didn’t see the Kkiwis now in residence but we did have a brief glimpse of a Weka. Grant and Fran are excellent hosts.

Birthday Trip

Being October babies, my mother and I had a Birthday Weekend. Perfect stop for our getaway and exploring the area. A wonderful ever-changing view of the lake, so peaceful. Very accommodating with our sleeping requirements. And well equipped for the more adventurous.

What a beautifully charming space! Well equipped meaning you are left to enjoy the tranquil surroundings and facilities on offer. Though it rai ed heavily the entire time we were there, it left us with an excuse to return and explore.the glow worm dell and indulge in the hot tub

Beautiful Setting

We loved the area, fantastic setting for a converted church. Serenity abounds, with no digital distractions. The children loved the glow worms and we gave the hot tub a go as well, unfortunately we forgot to empty when we left. Highly recommended.

Well worth the stay.

Unique accommodation in a beautiful remote location. Loved the lake where we enjoyed use of kayaks and spent time fishing. Our favourite was the glow worm cave and friendly weka greeting in the morning. Our toddler loved exploring and helping with the hot tub.

Lovely Time

I ended up not being able to go due to being sick, but the other families were able to meet out there. They found the space perfect for their needs - tranquil and restorative! Thank you for hosting them; I’m hoping to join them next year!

Beautiful location

Beautiful location very cool historical structure. This place was a very unique listing, lots to do on property and surrounding area. The mattresses and especially pillows were very uncomfortable and in need of replacement. Well appointed. Mike & Bettina

Heaven not far away

Absolutely stunning stay- felt like being so far away from everyone and everything but only a few hours drive from the east of the South Island. Lush greenery and the sounds of the birds - best place to stay and enjoy urself / family/friends. Hot tub was a beautiful touch! Takes 5 hours to realy heat up but worth it !!!!

A lovely secluded retreat

What a treat to spend a few days just soaking in the ambiance and relaxing! Making the commitment to heat up the hot tub is well worth the effort. Visiting the glow worms in the evening was also cool. The place is very comfortable. Bring a good book and be prepared to relax, because the nearest anything is a good 20 minutes away.

Highlight!

This extraordinary accommodation was the highlight of our 3 weeks NZ holidays! Staying in an old church was so special to all of us and it was so good equipped with everything. The free kayaks have been the cherry on the top! Communication with Fran was easy and friendly, she even agreed to send us some important stuff we forgot in her accommodation per post. Would 100% recommend staying here :)

Magical. What a setting.

This place is unique and super special. It reminds me of a small church in the Colorado Rocky Mountains I once visited in my youth. The set, setting, and views are next level. The raw untouched tapped in nature is so special. Thank you so much for sharing this special place with visitors!

Magical getaway

Hot tub! So glad we stayed at Inchbonnie. We could still easily drive to Hokitika and Greymouth for hikes etc. Really loved the town of Moana and we could explore it given we were staying close by. What a view of the lake from the front window. Perfect spot to sit on the couch with a wine, good book and relax. Did I mention the hot tub!!!

Stunning place!

We absolutely loved our time at Inchbonnie and are already talking about when we can make it back. The fire keeps the place very cosy, there are lot of great walks and getting out on the lake in kayakes was so much fun. Thank you so much for sharing your special, peaceful spot with us.
