Absolute beachfront, this is a classic sunny beach bach with most mod cons and all the essentials, yet it retains the relaxing character of days gone by. This bach is situated in the very best part of Raumati Beach, accessed by an easy 2 minute walk from your car park. The trade off for your short walk is an unsurpassed level of privacy with generous deck areas providing sheltered sunbathing opportunities even on a windy day. Nothing to carry in but food, drink and clothing as everything else is there in abundance. Located on popular Wharemauku Road only a minute from Raumati Beach township with its cafes, restaurants, great shops, children's park and Marine Garden. It also has a separate outside bedroom with bunks on the back deck. Whilst this means there is ample space for 2 adults and 3 children, we don't recommend the bach for a 4 adult stay. If you are looking for a 5-star stay in Raumati, this bach is not for you. However if you are looking for the traditional Kiwi beachfront bach experience, then the Wharemauku Retreat is highly recommended.

With a outdoor view is the Southern end of Kapiti Island, this place is the spot to stay!!
We loved all the gardens around us and the beautiful view and access to the beach.
Loved our stay at this cute wee Batch.
The view of the Beach and Kapiti Island was stunning. Right on the beach didn't want to leave Thanks so much we would live to stay again
Just perfect for a short break away. Beach a short stroll away and great for long morning and evening walks. View from the deck in the evenings wonderful.
This is the third time we have stayed at this cozy bach. It is the perfect weekend getaway within touching distance of the beach, which can be spied from the main bedroom and deck. The weather was great - the icing on the cake. Would happily stay again.
Great little kiwi Bach, pitty it rained the whole time we were there but we loved the house and location. To get to the Bach was a fun little adventure for the kids.
Swimming on the hot days and stayed in on the wet days. Had everything we needed. Easy communication. 1km walk either way on the beach to cafes/restaurants so that was really nice. :-)
Nice little Bach for young families. Description of room configuration could be clearer in terms of 2 bunks separated from the house but we made do (had 2 young kids that we couldn’t quite put outside for the night!). Cute beachfront property quite private and quaint.

Thanks for the review! We’re so sorry you didn’t see that the sleepout was separate from the bach - it is stated twice on the website, but we’re glad you made do and hope you enjoyed your stay.. Thanks for leaving everything so lovely and clean!
Excellent Kiwi bach. Its been recently done up, with all new appliances inside. The short walk from the car space is what makes the place, private, with an unobstructed view of the beach and island. We loved it.

Such a lovely spot. We just needed a bit more information about the 'trek' into the property and the steps up to the house. (We had an 87 year old with us and while she is fantastic, I was worried about the slippery steps, the steepness, and no hand rail.)

We’re so sorry you had a struggle with the access! While we do warn guests about the walk and the steps, we will review our processes to see if we make it a bit more clearer. Thanks for the feedback, hope you had a great stay despite this!
Easy walk in. Very close to the sea. Lovely to sleep with the sound of the waves. Lovely decks to enjoy the views. Well equipped. Choose to make the lounge the third bedroom to stay warm. Fortunately packed an eye mask to block the flashing wifi. Unsure about the safety of the fireplace so used the heat pump. Not needed but no DVDs visible.
The bach is very private and offers a lovely view out onto the sea. Views of the neighbours are blocked out by bush/trees including 4 large Norfolk pines on the right hand side.
It was a great place to stay for 3 nights with good walks in both directions down the beach. Would stay again.
There’s a mini-oven and microwave but no full sized oven, so cooking pizzas or a roast is out of the question. We used the gas bbq for most meals.
There’s a partially covered deck at the front and to one side and the bbq worked well - but we couldn’t get it to light when there was strong wind.
Access is via a U shaped track that goes down towards the beach then across and then up a wooden boardwalk. There were lights on the boardwalk but we couldn’t get them to turn on, so (as the owner recommends) take a torch if you’re going to be coming/going in the dark.
Only criticism was re cleaning - it would be good to have a list on site as to what the owners expect as I suspect some people miss the bit about guests needing to clean. The previous occupants to us hadn’t vacuumed - there was bits of pie pastry all over the floor/bench/bedroom and their dirty sheets/towels were still on the beds. They’d left to the bbq dirty and mini-oven covered in fat too. Was a bit annoying having to clean up their mess then ours as well.

Hi Patrick, thanks for the review! We have spoken to our cleaner and it appears there was a mix up and the bach wasn’t cleaned before your stay. This should never have happened and we do apologise, we will be contacting you regarding a refund of some of your fee
This is a great place to stay with family. Right at the beach with awesome views and a great outdoor space for a chilled BBQ. Nice, cosy bach with an extra sleepout (though this is probably more suitable in warmer weather). Has all what you need and we found the access to the bach is very manageable (as described in listing). Excellent communication by property manager. Would stay again. Thanks again for your support.
The house was awesome and had everything we needed. A bit tricky to get to but this is made clear in the listing and were pleasantly surprised at how well it was communicated in the arrival information.
Access to the beach is fantastic and took full advantage with some evening walks.
