Family of 5, three boys aged 13, 10, 7.Clean bedding, heaters, comfortable beds, the kids loved spending the night in a yurt!Outdoor kitchen with sink, gas toaster and kettle, pizza oven. We ate out and only used the kettle and toaster as I'm not a natural camper!! Electric kettle and small fridge in the yurt.Beautiful setting, yurt situated next to a field of inquisitive friendly llamas which the kids loved. Bathroom was large, clean, shower was good, small bottles of soap/shampoo provided. We did a tour of the farm at 8.15 in the morning with one of the farm staff members - she was lovely and introduced us to all the animals allowing us to stroke and feed some of them. We really enjoyed this. Would happily stay again
Was a cozy stay for a chilly night! Great hosts with clear communication, was exactly as stated! Would stay at wacky stays again for sure. Nice clean and comfortable facilities.

Yurt stay
We think wacky stays with the farm animals is a great concept, especially for children.
If choosing again, we would not take the yurt. The mouldy smell was overwhelming - didn't think it was due to the animal hair construction - I have done a lot of rough 3rd world (and 3rd class) travelling and this was not that smell. It was mould.
The outdoor kitchen was pretty rugged and not particularly clean, but a fun element for summer.
Some things didn't work - one side of electric blanket, lights in outdoor kitchen, doorbell to owner. But the owner was very helpful and the info provided was thorough.
Grounds were also quite muddy, but I appreciate it was winter. We were cold with the bedding, which was not the case in other places we stayed.
I did love the duck enjoying the night rain - quaaack, quack, quack, quack 🙂
So, avoid the yurt, go in summer, take a torch and your kids will love it.
The yurt was everything we hoped it would be. A great experience for our children and a memorable stay in Kaikoura

A really enjoyable and unique experience. Our kids loved feeding the animals each morning. The Yurt was spacious, snug and warm. The outdoor kitchen was really well equipped (even included a pizza oven!)

We wondered how warm it would be in May, but it was cosy.

Liked: the yurt idea, animal feeding and access to the zoo, bathroom facilities, friendliness of the owner. Location is a couple of miles from town, but thats no problem with a car....it was quite apart from the donkeys and the cockerel (and we were very pleased to hear them :-))
