About Marcia Woolman
My husband Hank and I have over the years, run a fly fishing school, guided for 10 years in YNP, Hank builds bamboo fly rods. In our non-summer home in VA we fox hunt on horseback and are active conservationists. We are life members of Trout Unlimited, and we both have received numerous awards from that organization. Presently, I am a retired teacher who writes Outdoor columns for a magazine and a local newspaper, and I have had an article on Yellowstone Cutthroat trout printed in Fly Fisherman Magazine.
Marcia Woolman purchased this House in 1992
Why Marcia Woolman chose Silver Gate
We are 20 minutes from the Lamar Valley which showcase wolves, grizzly, elk, deer, and many others depending on your interests and time of year and time of day to view them. This area is considered the best animal viewing in the Park. Also called the Serengeti of N. America. Hiking in our area can be a wonderful family hike to Trout Lake which is less than a mile long and takes you to a large lake with a walking trail around it, and besides getting to see huge trout there are also fish eating animals in the area as well.
What makes this House unique
We are one of the closest residences to YNP in any of the gateway communities. In two minutes you can be at the NE gate. The Lamar Valley is 25 minutes and has the best wildlife viewing in the Park for wolves, bears, and bison.

Back again to Silver Gate
This is our second year staying at the Woolman's cabin. The proximity to the park entrance is incomparable. This year we stayed later in the month and did need to head out early in the day before an unexpected snowfall began. Interacting with Marcia is a pleasure and she is responsive to any issues that may arise.
Perfect Base Camp For Lamar Valley
For my wife and I, this was the perfect place to stay, right outside the northeast entrance to Yellowstone. We could be at the park entrance in 5 minutes, and entering the Lamar Valley 15 minutes later.
Although there was room for several more, this gave us room to relax after a day of fly fishing or animal watching, with all the comforts of home.
We are so glad you enjoyed our house and location. We have some of the best animal viewing and fisihing in the Park as you mentioned. The house is just as you said cozy, comfortable and completely furnished, just like home. Hope you come back again soon.
Cozy and fun
Our family stayed 4 nights in mid August. We enjoyed everything from Yellowstone, to the cute town of Silver Gate! Best ice cream right next door. Super friendly people. The home was a great fit for the 5 of us. Especially the kitchen. I prepared all our meals there with ease. The water is the best we ever tasted! Beautiful views! We even saw the most amazing thunderstorm. Marcia was helpful in answering all my questions before our trip began. I recommend this place!
Thank you for this wonderful review. We hope you will come visit us again as many of our renters do.
Feels like home
First of all, this house does not feel like a rental but like a HOME. It's spacious, well-decorated and cozy. All the amenities you need for a Yellowstone vacation are there. Kitchen and bathrooms are stacked with supplies, beds are comfy and the dining table is big enough to pile all our camera gear onto. Communication with the owners (we'd like to meet them one day) and caretaker went smoothly. All these things made leaving Yellowstone National Parkadise even more difficult but we will definitely be back. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Ilse and dad Wilfried from Belgium
Thank you for such a warm and welcoming review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit to our wonderful part of the world. Coming all the way from Belgium it was important to us that you enjoy your trip. Thank you again for this nice review.
