About this property
Lake Life Paradise: Create wonderful moments & memories with family and friends
If you are looking for a true Northwood’s experience on a pristine lake Minnesota Lake, a feeling of peace and calmness but with all the modern comforts you are accustomed to, this is it.
The location:
Ten Mile Lake is located in Hackensack, Minnesota. It is the third deepest lake in Minnesota, with a maximum depth of 209 feet and a surface of approximately 5,000 acres. It is spring-fed and has high water clarity, perfect for swimming, fishing, or any of your favorite water activities. It was named for its distance, 10 miles, from the Indian Agency on Leech Lake Indian Reservation.
Hackensack is located in Cass County, Minnesota, 171 mile North of the Twin Cities. There are 127 lakes in a 10-mile radius from Hackensack; the Foothills State Forest, The Chippewa National Forest, the North Country walking Trail, and the premier Paul Bunyan Biking trail runs right through the center. And with a population of only 294 (2021), it has a very quaint and cozy feel, yet it offers great amenities to residents and visitors alike.
Spend your day on the water, or bring your bikes or rollerblades and head up to the Paul Bunyan trail for some family fun. If you’d like to explore a larger town where you can find more stores, restaurants and some spas, head out to Walker. It’s a 20 minutes drive or a 1hour and 15 minutes bike ride on the Paul Bunyan Trail.
** Please note that the $1000 Property Fee is 100% refundable. It is a security deposit that will be refunded after your check out. Keep that in mind when comparing rental costs with other rentals **
The house:
Ten Mile Lake House is a spacious half-log home located on 200 feet of private shoreline on Ten Mile Lake. The 4,590 SF home with 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests. There is a large yard on the lakeside with plenty of space for lawn games and relaxing on the edge of the water.
Inside you will find all the modern comforts of home with a twist: a cozy and laid-back cabin feel. Start your day with your hands wrapped around a warm cup of coffee or tea as you contemplate the lake splendor while sitting on the dock, the 3-season porch, or through the large windows of the living room.
Spend your day playing lawn games, water games, swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing, biking, rollerblading, or just reading a book in the hammock. As the daylight slowly dims, make yourself a cocktail and prepare one of your favorite recipes in the fully equipped kitchen or better yet, put your sous-chef to work on the BBQ. Gather with family and friends around the large dining room table that comfortably seats up to 12 people, and share a delicious meal. You can also enjoy a meal al fresco on the patio. Afterwards, settle with a book and a glass of wine in the 3-season screened porch ( my favorite spot!), head to the lower level for a foosball tournament or watch a movie, or head back out and settle by the campfire to roast some S’mores and gaze at the stars.

About the host
Hosted by Sophie Tremblay

We are lake and nature lovers and after a long search, we have finally found our happily ever after place up North. But we are still too young to retire and have kids who have activities and summer jobs in the city, which keeps us away from our Ten Mile Lake heaven more than we'd like for the next few years.
So we decided to share our little piece of paradise with like-minded families during the weeks we cannot be here.
We are quite certain you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Why they chose this property
Ten Mile Lake is one of the most pristine lakes in Minnesota. It is a glacier spring fed lake with amazing water clarity. In Hackensack, you are away from all the Brainerd / Baxter buzz so it's a good place to be if you are in search for a true away-from-it-all lake vacation. Yet you are close enough to a variety of restaurants and stores in nearby Walker if you feel like "going out".
We also think our cabin is pretty awesome! It has this quaint feel of actually being a cabin surrounded by nature and wilderness as opposed to a "suburban-like" modern house on a lake. We love the exterior and interior cozy-feeling of the place. It truly feels like actually "getting away".
