We had a group of friends stay at this property and overall really enjoyed the relaxation of the large pool, the availability of the boat dock, and the spaciousness of the house. Great time!

Great house for a big group!

This house is such a great set up for a big group. You have it all…lake access, pool, hot tub, fire pit, pool table and more. The owner is very nice and helpful. We had an amazing time and would highly recommend this house!

Nice home with plenty of space.

We had a wonderful stay. Everyone had something to do, from swimming, to fishing, to boating. The house has plenty of space for large groups and everything was clean.

All in all nice home for stay Needs some tightening work on cabinet doors in kitchen... bifold closet doors...cribs were setup and in the way ... didn't fit thru doorway... a nuisance in that room A shower door missing in first floor bathroom..kinda strange Pool was great and temperature perfect Good grilling space for large group Plenty of towels for pool and bathrooms

*beware* not worth the risk, may have to relocate

I check reviews when choosing places, so I need to warn about this property/owners. Our group couldn't stay at property. We vacated after 11:30 pm due to A LOT of mouse (& other) poo found when people started pulling back covers on the beds. After, we discovered the pantry was another hot spot. Fortunately we found 4 rooms about 15 min away. Our rent was refunded, but owners unwilling to reimb Fri hotel for inconvenience of relocating late at night due to conditions. VRBO cust service has escalated, but it's time consuming and ultimately shouldn't be needed. I wish I could attach pix... we have many that support a probable mouse infestation, and it's only what we discovered between 10:30-11:30 pm. We didn't continue to look, we were scrambling to find a hotel and pack up. (I shared pix with owners & VRBO cust service.) One of the owners doesn't seem to understand what they're dealing with, here's part of his last response:"Their analysis is that the perimeter was already baited and there was no signs of animals in the house so the ones that damaged the beds didn’t stay and must of just got into the pantry and bedrooms and left most likely poisoned by the baits and died somewhere back outside."ALSO, this "remodel" looks like a lot of diy in need of add'l repair. Carpet in desperate need of prof cleaning, broken stove top, wobbly toilet, tub won't drain. AND owners have 2 other properties close by with same pest control/cleaners. #BeCareful#Mice#GeneHackman

Great spot but needs some attention

We had a small family reunion last weekend at the property. 14 people were able to sleep comfortably the entire weekend, amenities were great, location was quiet and hot tub was fantastic. But it does need some attention. When we first got there, the freezer was frozen shut and upon finally getting it open, it looked like water had been leaking and froze to the bottom. The grill also needs some maintaining as it was quite gross. There are many stains throughout the house, on carpets mainly but some on walls and beds so cleaning needs to be addressed a bit. Overall, the house serves its purpose in housing probably up to 20 people. TV’s are nice and basement offers a solid spot to play games and have some fun.

Great home and beautiful views. Most of the closet doors were broken but wasn’t a problem for us. No TVs in the bedrooms which was an issue with the kids at night. Otherwise we loved it and I would go back.

We had a good time

We booked this home somewhat last minute because of trying to align schedules. Our friends kindly joined us close to Chicago as we had a family event the following weekend. We wanted a house on a lake with a pool with enough room for our families. The house served its purpose for that but for what we paid we expected it to be nicer than it was. It seemed the house was undergoing renovations that weren't quite completed. These were minor things like trim not being replaced around doors/windows and towel bars missing. So again, it didn't impact our stay but we did expect more for the money we paid. Perhaps the proximity to Chicago influenced pricing. The house was nicely equipped for the kitchen. There are some basic spices like salt and pepper and other random oils/spices previous people left. Pool and bath towels are provided. There were some pool toys there. There aren't any kayaks or paddle boards for the lake. The house has toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, dish detergent, dishwasher detergent and laundry detergent. The area is quite lovely. If you have a boat or want to rent one, it would likely be a lot of fun. All in all a good stay.

Short Weekend Getaway

We reserved this property for a short weekend getaway to the Chicagoland area. We had a big group of family and the property did a fantastic job of accomodating us all. JJ was really great to work with. Very responsive and timely all the way through booking, the stay, and after. Superb service. The property had lots of great space and the teenage kids particularly enjoyed the basement game room and the NBA Jam arcade game and the hot tub. Sad we stayed in March and couldn't enjoy the pool, but it looked awesome.

Perfect Location! Great Communication!

We had a group of 10 family members and this house provided a lot of space for us to spread out. Pool was so nice to have for the kids. We loved the location of this house - on the water but close to grocery stores. We found the kitchen very well-stocked. The host was very responsive to questions while we were staying at the house. The house has some updates that look to be in-progress but the place is still enjoyable.

Great Property for a Large Group

This was the perfect property to host 10 adults for a get together! The pool was awesome, the kitchen was near perfect for what we needed, and there was ample sleeping space for everybody. This property seems to be in the process of being remodeled, and there are a couple of touches that weren’t ideal. The dishwasher wouldn’t work, and leaked when we tried to run it. Though we didn’t mind it at all, it’s worth pointing out that the diving board was not set up as it is in the pictures. Lastly, we were going to play some pool, but as we took off the ping pong table covering we found mold on the felt of the pool table. These were all minor, we were happy to hand wash dishes, skip the diving board, and stick to ping pong. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for an incredibly comfortable space for a large group, in a convenient location, with plenty of fun to be had on the property. Thanks for making the space available to us, we had a great time!

Great For Groups but Expected More For The Price

I want to start off by saying that we had so much fun! The pool/ping pong table was great. The beds were plentiful and extremely comfortable. Loved how many bathrooms there were and that all the toilets and showers were in a separate room from the sinks. The pool was large and amazing! And we loved how much room overall there was for everyone. Super great for large groups and adults!! The host was also very nice and responsive via text to all the questions and concerns I had. The cooking and grilling supplies were honestly really old and dirty looking so that was a bummer, I wish we had brought up our own grill & pans to use. We cleaned the grill off but the pots and pans were a NO. I also feel like the space was poorly renovated overall with bad patched up holes everywhere, loose cabinets, poor painting jobs, etc. The water was also a problem. The first and second floor had hot water if you left it running for like 15 mins but the top floor shower would not work at all if you turned it to the hot side. It was so strange. We lived in the same state so we were able to bring a lot with us but it might have been a less fun experience for those traveling far because you definitely need to bring toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, and lots of things that I would normally expect to already be there. But overall I am happy we stayed here because it fit our large group and was what we needed for the weekend.

shower water pressure was very low, the thermostat was locked and barley produced heat, toilet paper was way too thin, floor was sticky in multiple places. Probably a better stay during the summer when the pool is operational. And everyone’s not freezing because the thermostat didn’t work. Felt dirty the whole time because we assumed we didn’t have to bring our own body wash, shampoo, and that the showers would be good.

Colson - I wish you would of reached out! The house is professionally cleaned before and after your stay and they usually do an amazing job so I will ask if something was different and I apologize. As for shampoo and body was there are closets with extra and the thermostats do not lock! There are two nest thermostats and again if you reached out I could of let you know how they work but you just turn them to the temp you want and push in to lock it. The house has two brand new furnaces! I hope you come back and have a better experience but thank you for the comments

Awesome stay at an awesome property with room for a few improvements

This property is awesome. My fiancé and I got our wedding party together for a group party pre-wedding. We easily had room for all of us to stay comfortably, rooms were clean and it was perfect for playing music, grilling and bonfires! We had an absolute blast. The only complaint I have is that the water temp was a little low so some guest had cold showers (an easy fix) and the refrigerator temp need to be lowered so it is colder. Other than those two easy improvements it was great. The host even provided us with firewood for the bonfires and had plenty of complimentary towels. Would definitely stay again! Hopefully when it is warmer so we can enjoy the pool.

Perfect Midwest Escape!

This is the perfect house for an escape from the city! My family and I enjoyed six days of rest, relaxation and fun at this beautiful home. With only a one hour drive from downtown Chicago, it makes for an easy getaway. The house is situated on a spacious lot with lots of room for playing. We were there right after a significant snow storm, so our kids enjoyed lots of snow play, sledding and snow angels all day long! The interior is equipped for all ages with lots of room to spread out. After lots of wintery outdoor play, our kids enjoyed coming inside to play ping pong and board games. The kitchen was spacious and welcoming, with a picture window over the sink to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding homes and foliage. The house is located in quiet stretch of town with a clear view of Lake Pistakee (well, at this time of the year, people ice-fishing on top of the lake). The best part is that within 10-15 minutes, you're surrounded by major grocery stores, big box retailers and loads of restaurants. It's also a 10-15 minute drive from Glacial Park for hiking and all-year-round activities. The owner was friendly, responsive and easy to work with. We will be back for sure, but this time in the warm weather months so we can test out the beautiful lake and private pool!

Comfortable Stay

This home has an open concept, with a modern yet cozy, and a very clean and fresh feel. The home was incredibly spacious for our family. We very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.
