Family home with mountain views, 4 bedroom, 3 bath (sleeps 10)

You won't find a better value for your vacation in the Winter Park area. This home, located on a private one acre wooded lot lets you get away to quiet privacy, but is convenient to all the activities of the Grand County recreation area. Ten minutes to Winter Park. An hour and a half from Denver.

Downhill skiing and boarding, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snow tubing, snowshoeing, all within minutes of the house.

Devil's Thumb Ranch & Snow Mountain Ranch are also both popular with wedding parties and located nearby.

Layout: Over 2,000 square feet in this home. There are three bedrooms and 2 baths on the first level. Bedroom 2 has a king size bed and reading chair. Bedroom 3 has two twin beds. These bedrooms share a bath. (Tub and toilet separated by a door from counter and sink) Bedroom 4 has 4 bunk beds and a bathroom. Upstairs is the great room, kitchen and master with king size bed. Master area has doors that can be closed off so toilet and sink can be accessed by others on main level without disturbing master, which has its own additional private counter and sink.

Heat is individually controlled in each room, so everyone can have it set the way they prefer.

Also works well for two families to share - parents have the king beds, up to 6 kids in bunk or twin beds.

Updated kitchen has granite countertops and a generous supply of dishes, pans, utensils, crockpot, mixer, griddle- everything you need for cooking.

Direct TV with DVD player.

Garage with electric door lets you drive in without exposure to elements.

About Brian Anderson

This property has been in the family for years, but we took over in 2001. It is a favorite place to get away and enjoy the mountains, scenery and serenity and the kids have wonderful memories of the great times at the mountain house. It is available when we are not using it.

What makes this house unique

When you stay at the house, you are off in a quiet reserve - all the properties nearby are acre plus lots. When you step out on the balcony, you see mountains and trees, not someone else's house or driveway or balcony. But in a few minutes you can be at the ski hill, the grocery store, at the lake or golf course or doing any of the many activities in the area.

Comfortable Cabin

We were two families sharing the cabin and the space available was perfect for us. The cabin was spacious and inviting. We made use of the kitchen and it had everything we needed to make our meals. We enjoyed the fireplace, as we used it every night. The washer and dryer came in extremely handy with 6 kids. The cabin does not have WIFI, but I was happy about that, it made our kids be creative and play outside. The cabin is only a short distance from Winter Park, but far enough to not feel like you are in a tourist trap. This was a perfect Christmas vacation, we even got snow on Christmas day. We recommend this cabin and we would stay here again.

Owner's Response: Thanks. We did add a blender as someone noted that with a very complete kitchen, we didn't have a blender for smoothies. We do now.

Fantastic stay at a cozy cabin in the woods

We had a wonderful stay this thanksgiving weekend. The house was just perfect for our family. Plenty of room in the open kitchen/living area to relax and enjoy each other's company. We got some fresh snowfall in the area that allowed us to go tubing down the local tubing and sledding hill. We also made a trip to the hot sulphur springs early one morning for a relaxing dip in the hot pools. This cabin had all the accommodations we needed to cook up the thanksgiving day feast. And even though it was cold outside the house stayed nice and warm with the wood burning fireplace and all the windows that allowed the sun to stream in - and, let us see out onto the mountain vistas beyond. What a great place you have here. Somewhat remote, yet still very close to everything the valley has to offer. Thank you!

Great family getaway

This home was perfect for our family of 8. Even room for a couple more grandkids if we had them. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable, the kitchen stocked with most items we wanted (no blender if you are a smoothie person). We prepared all our own meals during the weekend. The cozy fireplace & living area adjacent to the kitchen helped with togetherness but lots of options on the lovely deck or outside for quiet time.

The owner was prompt with replies & communications . Everyone loved it here.

My sons wedding at Devils Thumb Ranch

We rented this house for the wedding as well as some activities post wedding. The house was perfect for the many guests. Comfortable, homey and peaceful! The price was more than reasonable and we truly enjoyed our time. Thanks again for being so accommodating!

Great Family Get Away

We were a group of 4 adults, a 5-year old and a 8-month old. We thoroughly enjoyed the house. Plenty of room for everyone. As my son said, it was like we each had our own "suite". Loved the great room with the open kitchen; and the kitchen was fabulous with everything you can think of including large electric griddle, waffle maker, blenders and more. Very convenient to Winter Park and the Rec Center which was also great; kids loved it! We drove up to Rollins Pass one day which was amazing (if you go be sure to be prepared with hats, jackets, sunglasses, food and plenty of water!!). Also the alpine slide in Winter Park was great fun...long line but still fun. The only thing that was bothersome, especially the first night, was the highway noise from Hwy 40. We were really surprised how much we could hear and that it went all night. The subsequent nights, I opened the window furthest from the front of the house and it was a better (I slept in the downstairs room with the king; but this would also be true for the twin room...other rooms are on the other side of the house). This is a great place for a really great price! Hope to return some time. Oh, one more thing...had my deposit back in less than a week. Thanks Brian!!

Owner's Response: Thanks. Glad you had a good time. That is the first time anyone has ever commented about the highway. It is half a mile away through the woods and we have never heard that feedback before. Some people must be more auditory sensitive than others.

Trip to Tabernash for Family wedding

My wife and I traveled with our adult kids for a three wedding event that took place at the Devils Thumb Ranch. Not knowing the exact distance from the home to the ranch, we were happy to learn that its about 6 easy driving miles. The property is awesome - very warm and comfortable with all the amenities needed - beds are very comfortable! We spent the evenings sitting around the fire and spending quality time with the family. The overall living space is very open with a great kitchen for preparing meals while still being involved with the conversation with friends and family. We didn't ski, but if you do, it seems like it would be the perfect place as Winter Park is again pretty close.......... 1/2 hour ??

The wild life is all around and the walking here is perfect.

Book this place you wont be disappointed.

The house is located at 847 CR 856 (formerly Lion’s Lane) Winter Park Highlands, Tabernash, CO 80478
1. CHECK-IN TIME IS 4 pm on arrival date AND CHECK OUT IS 10 am. Mountain time. (We are usually flexible if schedules permit).
2. This is a NON SMOKING house.
3. This is a NO pets house.
4. We will not rent to vacationing students or singles under 25 years of age unless accompanied by an adult guardian or parent.
5. DAMAGE/RESERVATION DEPOSIT- A damage/reservation deposit of $350 is required. This must be received to hold the reservation. The deposit automatically converts to a security/damage deposit upon arrival. The damage deposit does not limit the liability of the renter for damages beyond that amount. The deposit is NOT applied toward rent; however, it is fully refundable within (7) days of departure, provided the following provisions are met.
a. No damage is done to house or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear.
b. No charges are incurred due to contraband, pets or excessive dirtiness requiring cleaning efforts above and beyond the normal routine.
c. All debris, rubbish and discards are placed in refuse containers in kitchen or garage.
d. All keys and garage door openers are left and house is left locked.
e. No linens are lost or damaged.
f. Check out has not been delayed beyond the agreed time and date.
6. PAYMENT – An advance payment of $200 is required 60 days before arrival. (VRBO online booking collects this automatically when reservation made) The advance payment will be applied toward the house rent. The advance payment is not a damage deposit. The BALANCE OF RENT is due thirty (30) days before your arrival date.
7. CANCELLATIONS – A sixty (60) day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations that are made more than sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date will incur no penalty. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay or that are made within 60 days of the arrival date forfeit the full ad
