We absolutely loved this place! The common areas were lovely with comfortable seating and antiques. The rooms were uniquely decorated and fun, and we all enjoyed picking which "country" we wanted to stay in! We will definitely visit again :)
Wonderful property - bedrooms were great and heat worked well for a very cold weekend stay! Great house for a large group - appreciate the large spaces to hang out as a group - from the huge dining room table to the large living room on the third floor. Plenty of space to be together as well as be alone from the group. House itself is beautiful and great overall stay!
It was good but a little disappointing in the lake. Entry to the lake was not good for the eight-year-old and the 11-year-old . I guess I didn’t realize that when I booked it the house was great. The area was great.
Did a ski weekend with a bunch of friends, the house was perfect, the character of the place and unique styling of each room was super fun, the hot tub was actually HOT, which was impressive for how cold it was outside. The house used to be an old bed and breakfast and it lends itself beautifully to being a VRBO for a large group. We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back and rent again!
The house was perfect for our larger family event. The bedrooms were quiet and each one had their own bathroom. The owner was responsive to any needs. We had a wonderful event.
Host very responsive and accommodating. The front porch was a great gathering place as the weather was warm. The antiques in the house are amazing! Already talking of going back again next fall!
This property is stunning. It fit our group of 14 perfectly. There are so many unique details and beautiful furniture. The kitchen was well-stocked for pots/pans/utensils/cleaning supplies which I always appreciate - makes group meals so much easier to manage. Quiet area, would be great all year round depending on what activities you like. Hot tub was a major highlight!

Thank you Kay for your kind words and for taking such great care of our unique home. Please come visit again anytime. Take care, Chris
Had a fantastic weekend with a group of 16! The teenagers claimed the upstairs, allowing the adults to relax in the main rooms and kitchen. The beds were cozy, and the bathrooms were spotless, which was a nice bonus since each family had their own. The kitchen is a bit small but has everything we needed. Enjoying the hot tub after a long day of skiing was the highlight! It was the perfect getaway for our group. Thank you Chris!
We had a great time. The house had so much room for our huge family. We felt spoiled that each family had their own bathroom. The lake was lovely for floating and kayaking. Over all we really enjoyed our stay and were thankful for the indoor space when it rained the last day.
Only complaint is that the septic area was smelly.
Amazing House, so much character. More than enough room for large family meals and gatherings. My family really enjoyed it. Having no snow was a disappointment, but we will try again another year. Thank you
This site was perfect for our family gathering. We love to cook and the kitchen was good size and well appointed with dishes and cookware. The yard was large for games/yoga/evening fire circle. Many places to sit and gather inside the house. Check in was very easy. Communication with property manager during our stay was excellent. We had a wonderful time and hope to return.
This house is super unique. Tons of room for our friend group. Hot tub and yard were great! Host was quick to respond to messages. House was well stocked. The lake was great, just have to get through a few lily pads to get a good swim in.

Thank you Jamie! I’m glad you and your guests had a great time. Come see us again soon anytime and thank you for taking great care of our home.
Very lovely stay at this mansion. The owners appear to really care about this property and have taken great care of this historic home. We had a family reunion of roughly fifteen people coming and going all week. No real major issues. We loves the spillway area and ability to kayak on the lake across the street. Just a really great week and experience. Thank you!
We spent New Years here with two other families, and it was perfect! The house is gorgeous and we appreciated the holiday decorations that added to the homey feel. The house is enormous which worked out wonderfully with a large group because there were multiple gathering places, and plenty of room for people to get alone time. We also really appreciated the little things like wood for the fire pit, and the heated pads to the hot tub were a nice touch. We're already talking about going back. Love this place!

Hi Darcy, thank you for the wonderful compliments. And thank you for taking such care with our unique home. You are welcome back any time. Chris
We had such a great weekend at this house! We were celebrating my husband’s birthday with friends and family, including kids between 7 months and 5 years old. The layout of the house made it so easy for us to spread out and accommodate all of our different sleep schedules. The backyard and fire pit were great and the lake and kayaks were super fun. Everything was really clean and as listed online. I’d definitely recommend this for other groups!

As hosts we love to get feedback from our guests on what they loved and what we can do better. We didn't receive any comments from you either way, and are confused as to the 4 star rating.
Comfortable Convenient Clean and Full of Character
The house is beautifully furnished. It was impeccable. Themed antiques and decorations adorn the house. The Sawyer Mansion was perfect for our group of 12 and we had a memorable stay. The house was by far our favorite in the past 5 years. Having private bathrooms for each bedroom was convenient. The dining room comfortably fit our group for meals. The jacuzzi was clean and we used the Weber grill during our stay. The house is conveniently located as wel took day trips to Bennington, Brattleboro and Manchester as well as local villages. The house is full of character and we would definitely come here again.
I booked this with 6 other couples as a send off for one of our friends. The place was immaculate when we got there and had plenty of space to cook, eat family style dinners and enjoy the area surrounding. Private rooms made it very comfortable for everyone to have a spot to themselves or enjoy time with the group. With 15 people it felt incredibly spacious and never once crowded. Chris and Kim were delightful to work with, provided everything that we needed and were very responsive to us the whole way through. I didn’t have any service in the area on Verizon, but ATT had full bars and the in home wifi was strong enough that it didn’t matter. 10/10 would stay again and looking forward to the next time We’re able to.

This property is a wonderful place for a large group. There is plenty of room to "escape" your family if need be as well! Six Master Bedrooms have their own full baths. Third floor playroom has plenty of room to stretch out and watch the big screen TV! The land is beautiful. We were up in the winter, had 20 inches of snow the second day of our stay, and the property manager was right on top of keeping us plowed while we were there. Kitchen is filled with anything necessary to keep everyone well fed. Very warm and cozy home filled with much history. Closest town with shops, restaurants, etc. is about 15 minutes away. We will definitely be back again and wish to thank our host and property manager for making our stay so comfortable and memorable.
