Enjoy all that Acadia National Park has to offer!! Don't forget that September and October are two of the best months in Acadia as well! No crowds...just beautiful fall weather and gorgeous scenery. We are a short distance to all the natural beauty that is Acadia, and there is no time like the fall for hiking. We are located on what is known on the island of Mount Desert on the 'Quiet Side'. We are away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. Kayaking to the famous Bass Harbor Lighthouse is right off our shore. Relax on our patio and enjoy the garden.
The quaint village of Southwest Harbor is nearby. Take the nearby ferries to all the surrounding islands. Some of Acadia's easiest and most beautiful hikes are a short distance away.
We have a fully stocked kitchen for those who like to cook. Our cottage is heated to take the chill off a cool autumn evening.
So come enjoy your vacation in our garden cottage and enjoy the natural splendor that is Acadia!!
Two kayaks and two bikes included with rental. We have Wi-Fi.

About Leslie Lamb
Acadia is our favorite place to be. When we purchased the property, it wasn't so pretty, and we have spent years doing construction and gardening. After much hard work it is a pretty and comfortable cottage. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Leslie Lamb purchased this Cottage in 2001
Why Leslie Lamb chose Bass Harbor
we purchased this property, as we knew it had potential for a great little cottage one house in from the water.
What makes this Cottage unique
You will be on the "Quiet Side", away from the crowds in Bar Harbor, but still very near many hikes which are part of Acadia, but are located on our side of the island. We are also only 3 miles form Echo Lake.

Leslie's place is super cute and perfect for a little Acadia getaway! Super stocked kitchen and a comfortable bed. Leslie was very kind and helpful during planning. We can't wait to come back!
We are so pleased that you liked our place! we do try to keep the kitchen stocked so people coming from far away don't have to buy too much for cooking.. Thank you!
Beautiful home and convenient to everything in Acadia National Park
This was a beautiful home in Bass Harbor! It had all the conveniences of home and was in a quiet area! We enjoyed hiking in Acadia National Park and it was just a short drive to Bar Harbor and other areas! It was the perfect place to get to everything and very cozy and romantic, as well. And, the owners were very helpful at suggestions for everything!! Highly recommend this house and area of Maine!
We are so glad you enjoyed our home! we try to make it comfortable and cozy.
Cozy and comfortable seaside home
We enjoyed the location near Bass Harbor, away from the tourist-packed Bar Harbor. Everything we wanted was easily accessed - hiking, carriage trails, Cadillac Mtn., and other smaller towns on the island. Leslie was easy to work with and was very accommodating in responding to my questions prior to arrival. A great get-away!
Thank you so much for your kind review. We try to be as informative as possible about our cottage and the park, so our guests can make the most of their stay!
we are so glad you enjoyed your time at our place.
Perfect, cozy, relaxing spot
My boyfriend and I stayed in this lovely cottage while exploring Acadia. It was perfect for the two of us! Much more spacious than the pictures show. The flowers were welcoming as was the sunny, open entryway/living room. We were half an hour from most of the hikes we wanted to do but very close to Southwest Harbor which was a classy and quaint town with just enough delicious restaurants and activity to keep us satisfied. We even got pizza one early evening and brought it back to the cottage and sat outside on the patio and ate pizza and drank beers. We had scrumptious seafood in town a few nights as well. It was peaceful and private and felt like we were in our own little world. There were a few hikes we also did close to the cottage and Bass Harbor lighthouse was just a few minutes down the road. We had wanted to extend our stay because we were enjoying our time so much but someone else was arriving. Leslie was great on the phone when we were first exploring options and we are so thankful we decided on this location once we became familiar with a few of the other towns we were checking out online. If you want a home away from home that is close enough to different activities and great food but far enough that you aren't right in the thick of tourist hell, this is definitely a perfect option.
Enjoyable Cottage Near Working Harbor
My wife and I had a very enjoyable stay at this cottage. It is perfect for two people looking for a home base to virtually anywhere on Mt. Desert Island. The kitchen was very well equipped with anything a traveler may need (the coffee filters were particularly appreciated). We found the patio to be quite lovely in the morning and a nice way to rest weary legs at the end of the day. A few items that are important to note for future visitors. First, the cottage is on Rt. 102, which means there is some car noise from 6:00 am until early evening. Rt. 102 has a limited shoulder and is not suitable for safe running/walking, in my opinion. Second, the bedroom faces east, making it rather bright in the morning even with a shade and blinds. The final point is not related to the cottage though worth noting. Bass Harbor is remotely located relative to the rest of the island. Southwest Harbor is less than 5 minutes away, but Bar Harbor can be as much as 45 minutes with traffic. Overall, a great place for a couple looking to get away from it all and take in the pleasures of the quiet side (be sure to go over to Seawall with a bottle of wine and some cheese, it's totally legal!).
Being on the other side of the island from Bar Harbor is a plus for us, as Bar Harbor is too crowded and we go up to Maine to get away from it all! There are many hikes on our side of the island and Echo Lake is only a few miles away, so there is plenty to do if you do not want to go to Bar Harbor. That said, traffic is much lighter in the fall. We do hope people enjoy being on the "Quiet Side"!
You may also catch the Island Explorer Shuttle Bus from our village or Southwest Harbor which will make the ride to the other side of the island more enjoyable. Just check the schedule online.
Very well stocked and well maintained, lovely gardens, highly recommended!
