Had a great stay. Cottage was in a great location and a very short walk to the shops and restaurants of Southwest Harbor. Being set off the road in the woods the unit was quiet and peaceful with deer and ducks wandering on the property. Many puzzles and games to keep the family occupied at night. Given no rentals within Acadia National Park, this was a great location to be able to go back and forth to the park and trails.
Cozy cabin in the woods. Everything we need but not cluttered. Happy to find there is a Keurig coffee maker! Brand new toaster! Laundry is in separate small building but was easy to use just walk out door a few steps beyond fire pit. Everything was provided…laundry detergent, (wood for fire pit). Beautiful loft with King bed and a couple of comfy chairs to look at the view of the ocean! Driveway is very steep but we still walked to town a few times. Thank you Vicki for sharing your cabin!
This cottage in the woods was perfect for our family of 4. It was a great base for exploring Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. The longest we had to travel to see everything we wanted to see was 35 minutes. The loft upstairs offered a lovely view. The home was very clean and had great natural light. The washer and dryer were very convenient and laundry baskets were available in each room. There is a nice grassy area in the back where my teenagers enjoyed playing frisbee while we cooked dinner on the grill. We arrived late into the evening and it was so nice to have the beds all made up and ready for us. We would definitely want to stay here again if we came back to the area.
We LOVED our stay!!! Honestly, it was better than the pictures. Incredibly clean, had every amenity needed and the perfect place to relax have a long day hiking or exploring MDI.
Absolutely would not change a thing about our stay at Cottage 2. We took in all that Acadia had to offer. Hiking, Ocean Drives, Sunsets and Sunrises, along with the Lobster Rolls. Cottage 2 tucked nicely in the trees made for peaceful and relaxing evenings. The cottage was everything we had hoped for and more. If we get back to Southwest Harbor, the quiet side of Acadia we will definitely stay again. Thank You for making our stay a memorable adventure.
The cottage was perfect for our time in Maine. It was the perfect distance from Acadia and the crowds of Bar Harbor. It was clean, quiet, and had everything we needed to come back and relax after long days of hiking.
Excellent stay, a quiet and comfortable place to relax and explore Acadia. Vicki was a great hostess and we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. Highly recommend!
We stayed a week in this quiet vacation house.Made many beautiful hikes. House was very well equipped. Beds were very good. Location close to Southwest Harbor center with a nice ice shop and good coffee at walking distance.
Amazing cottage in walking distance of southwest harbor. Clean cottage with easy check-in, well stocked kitchen, great views of the sunrise. Added bonus of allowing our dog to come with us on vacation. Would definitely recommend!
The cabin exceeded all expectations. Grilling on the deck was a joy, and evenings by the fire pit were cozy and relaxing. The house itself was incredibly comfortable, with thoughtful touches and a perfect layout for our group. Its location, so close to Acadia’s attractions, made every adventure convenient. We couldn’t have asked for a better home base. If we return to Acadia, we’ll absolutely book this cabin again—it was the perfect retreat after days filled with exploration and adventure. Thank you for an amazing stay!
We loved Vicki’s cottage! It was super clean, the kitchen was very well equipped and the setting is amazing, so quiet and in the middle of the forest. It was really nice to be away from the crowd. I highly recommend it.
We loved this property for our family of four. It was cozy, well equipped and in walking distance to town. We also enjoyed the backyard fire pit!

About the host
Hosted by Vicki Beal
Doug Beal, Jr. a 5th generation, lived in Southwest Harbor his whole life. He and his wife, Vicki, owned a Marine Construction and Diving Business for 41 years. They decided to start a retirement business, so, they began building seasonal rental cottages. Doug completed 3 of them before he passed away in the summer 2015 ( Homeaway #956783 and ). Vicki is carrying on the business that she and Doug started, together. The three cottages can house 14 happy vacationers, (for a group looking to vacation, together), or rent one for a family. Woodland Cottages I, II and III, all have great holiday appeal ~
Why they chose this property
When I am building these cottages, I build them the way I would want them as if I were going to live in them. I try to make them very compfortable, quiet and private. I am pleased with both of them.
