Bella Vista--Spectacular Views of Zihua Bay from 1-BR Condo above Madera Beach

Zihuatanejo is located on a bay that has four beaches around it: Principal, La Madera, La Ropa, and Las Gatas. This condo is part of Bahia Suites, located on Playa La Madera,

It’s a one-bedroom unit on the second floor of the building that sleeps up to four (with a king bed in the bedroom plus two sofas in the living room that can be used as twin beds or easily pushed together to make a king-sized bed). It is open to the bay with no window or wall to obstruct the amazing view, although the master bedroom can be isolated with its air conditioning unit. The beach below is a great place for sunning, swimming, or getting something to eat.

Bahia Suites is on a hill above the beach. It has 24-hour security on duty and also has its own pool, shared by the ~20 units in the building.

Bahia Suites is close to the main part of town—a very walkable route along the bayfront or through the neighborhood. The immediate neighborhood has lots of cafes, some shops and a small grocery store. If you choose to walk to town, you’ll find the main market and many more shops and restaurants, as well as banks. There’s also a large complete grocery store, just like most of us are used to, and a Sam’s Club.

About Zihuatenejo
What we love about Zihuatanejo is that it still has the flavor of an old Mexican fishing village, but with the added attraction for visitors of many restaurants and places to hear live music.

For something a little different, you might enjoy participating in the release of baby sea turtles, or hiring a boat to cruise around the bay, go whale-watching, or fishing, or parasailing, or . . . The local people are warm and friendly and often go ‘above and beyond’ to make your visit wonderful.

Relaxing Stay!

The place was centrally located and walking distance to everything. La Madera beach is just below and about a 2 min walk down the stairs. We loved it and would definitely come back and stay. The one and only downside is that the two units below are undergoing renovation and thus there is a bit of noise and jackhammering, but otherwise it was an amazing stay!

Wonderful place to stay...I have never woke up to such a view...affordable, clean, Gary the owner had great follow up and his property manager Carmen was so welcoming and helpful. Close to everything, we walked everywhere...enjoyed the clean pool everyday. Appreciated that there was a security guard keeping an eye out on the property too, we felt very safe.

Enjoyed our stay!

Gorgeous view from open living area. Very clean and well equipped. Guard on duty in lobby 24/7 so very secure. Close to good restaurants and just steps to the beach. Only downside were dogs barking during night and early morning right below our unit.

Great Stay

Our stay was great. The condo felt roomy, also compact. We have stayed in Bahia Suites before. We would return to this unit again. Liked the breeze. Never needed aircon. View amazing and walk to Centro easy. Too many good places to eat nearby .Likes...Fans that were breezy and not noisy. Great shower. Funny, but wonderful pans to fix omeletes. Not easy to find.

It's a beautiful condo. Perfect location. We have stayed in Zihuatanejo many times. We were looking for a new place that was quiet. The place we were staying got very busy. This condo was great! The building manager, Carmen, was very helpful. I plan on staying here again.

Perfect for my wife’s Birthday

You know, they had a TV but the view was the best TV in the world. We had a wonderful time. The steps to La Madera were right there, restaurants close by, security doorman nicest/sweetest in the world. Carmen was awesome. The condo had everything we needed….very hot when we were there but the bedroom stayed cool. What a view, great time. Highly recommended!

Great Location

My wife and I have been to Zihuatanejo many times over the last decade but had never stayed in the LaMadera neighborhood. We thourougly enjoyed the area with access to many resataurants all within walking distance as well as the close access to the beach. The views were wonderful from their open air condo and the bed ws comfortable. The Bahia Suites building is older as are all of teh buildings in LaMadera, but the sute has been nicely updated inside.

Perfect. Love Zihua!

As advertised. Amazing views. Lovely to sleep to the soothing sound of the ways. Air conditioning in bedroom worked perfectly. Pool was beautiful and usually uncrowded or empty. Easy access to Madera beach which is lovely. Nice to see Zihua has improved in the last 5 years - blue flag beaches, rebuilt sea wall, lighting upgrades along the malecon.

Sleeping with the sound of the ocean, love it!

This is a lovely place to stay. I would return in a heartbeat. It's well kept, beautifully furnished and has an open air view out to the bay over the beach. There is a pool for guests that also looks out over the beach and bay. The building is secure with a person on duty 24 hours a day who can call for cabs if you need one. The caretaker, Carmen was very helpful and the owners were great about communicating and answering questions. I can highly recommend it.

Had to cancel: Hurricane!

Ok the hurricane missed Zihua but we didn’t know 12 hrs prior as the locals didn’t know either. We cancelled. Our hosts were supremely gracious. That’s all I’ll I’ll say we didn’t go, but we will be back!. Thank you so much guys. Bless Acapulco.

Awesome beachfront condo with view

Second time renting a vacation getaway condo in this Bahia Suites building. Property Manager Carmen on top of things and quickly responsive. Location is awesome, right near restaurant row, easy beach access (77 steps are good for you!), small grocery store just up the street, quick walk to downtown. Pool and grounds well maintained, 24 hour security guard. The view is, well, perfect! Can see the entire bay, some beach, palm trees... Spent alot of chill time in the units two rocking chairs at the open edge of the living room. (Like a covered balcony) enjoying the sound of the surf, birds... our zen. King size bed comfortable, kitchen was fine as we ate breakfast and some lunches in the unit. Bedroom AC was great and unit ceiling fans and ocean breeze was perfect. What would we change... Ok, the wall sconce lights were too bright at night for our liking, a couple lamps would have been nice, and there is only one lamp in the bedroom, made reading in bed a bit of a challenge. Also, a couple times there was an "odour" from the bathroom floor drain next to the toilet. We would definitely rent the unit again, and hope to do so when our next vacation time rolls around.

Very convenient location; fabulous views

My husband and I have stayed at this apartment five times, and we're returning next January. It's on the hill at Madera Beach, 70 some steps to the beach (with two palapas restaurants and a special occasion restaurant), there's a well-stocked convenience grocery store a few steps away, about seven restaurants a few minutes down the hill towards town, and a fifteen minute walk to the malecon and downtown, with the large open market and oodles of restaurants. The condo is in an attractive building with about twelve apartments (some owners are from the U.S. and Canada---very friendly times at the small pool---with a stunning view of the ocean and hills). The apartment is small but doesn't seem small because the entire front is open to the sea side view. There's a separate bedroom, living room area, and well stocked kitchen (stove, oven, full size refrigerator, microwave, plenty of pots, pans, dishes, glasses, etc.---everything you need to cook even a complicated meal. Everything is tastefully decorated and clean. And Carmen, the manager, is extremely helpful: easy to work with for payment, easy to reach when we needed something (more filtered water, for example); she even bought new kitchen knives when we mentioned we could use them and picked us up at the airport when she could. For the reasonable price, this is a wonderful apartment, especially for those who like to swim (the bay here is calmer than some other areas) hang out at a palapa to eat and read, wander into town to buy food, cook and have dinner with a spectacular view.

Thanks for your comments. One of things we like best about the condo is that open front. We usually leave the fan on in the bedroom and open the window in there as well to hear the gentle waves on the bay. Thanks for your visits and we hope to see you there some day. Gary

Nice Stay

This was a very nice condominium, close to everything in Zihua. Fabulous view of the bay. Adequately stocked with utensils, dishes, etc.... Susie (owner) was easy to contact and helpful. Carmen (the on-site manager) was also very good. There is on-site security and we felt safe here. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Fantastic view Excellent location

Beautiful view of the ocean, located within walking distance of dozens of great restaurants. 77 steps down to Madera beach. The unit itself could use a little updating but because of Covid and new owners a few things are lacking. Unfortunately while we were there there was construction in the building and on the street. The construction in the building finished the day after we left. We voiced our concerns to the owners regarding some deficiencies and the responded and dealt with them promptly. We would recommend this property and we will definitely return.

Perfect location for walking everywhere! View was spectacular. It was a little annoying that you had to be let in and out of locked gate by a security guard every time you went somewhere.

Killer view!

Where to start? The view is spectacular, condo well done, management very responsive (shout out to Carmen), and owners were so accommodating. We had a couple of issues (ours- work related), and Harry and Susie jumped in immediately to help, along with Carmen. We can't say enough good things about the owners. Neighborhood terrific- just a short walk to numerous excellent restaurants, to town or the pier for fishing, or down the stairs to the beach. We loved Zihua, and hope to be back soon.

オーナー : Susie and Harry Andrist with Carmen Nunez as local manager.

Susie Andrist was born and raised in the Chicago area and graduated from the University of Illinois. After graduation, she moved to Oregon in 1970. In her subsequent career, she developed six different reading programs, completing the revision of two of those programs in spring of ’21. She became a Rotarian in 2008 and currently manages the homeless programs for her club. She has also been involved with a Eugene-based non-profit, StoveTeam International, serving as a board member since 2008 when it became a registered non-profit and participating in thirteen volunteer work trips to Latin America. In addition to her Rotary work, she enjoys kayaking, singing, aquatic exercise, and international travel.

Harry Andrist was born in Omaha, Nebraska but grew up in southern California. After graduating with an advanced degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois (where he first met Susie in 1968), Harry took up academic positions in chemistry departments at three universities in Oregon, England, and Colorado before joining Cleveland State University where he remained for twenty-seven years. Subsequently, he served the State of Ohio for twenty years as Director, Vice Chancellor, and Senior Advisor at the Ohio Department of Higher Education.

Susie and Harry are considered by some to still be newlyweds, as they got married in the fall of 2019. With the marriage, Susie was lucky to become part of Harry’s extended family of three children and seven grandchildren.

Susie and Harry live in Oregon with their three cats and are avid vacation travelers, especially during the winter months. They have enjoyed visits to Zihuatanejo so much that they purchased their condo at Nuevo Bahia Suites in March of 2021.
