NEWS FLASH! - The Master Planned Community of Princeville on the North Shore of Kauai braved The Storm of 4/15 and remains OPEN for business. Unlike communities farther north, Princeville did not sustain any real damage. And, The Dolphin Hale specifically is ready to welcome you and yours.
The Dolphin Hale is a blend of traditional and contemporary design that provides the ocean views and elbow room you crave to make your island stay a real vacation.
At nearly 3900 square feet, The Dolphin Hale is a tri-level bluff home possessing wonderful ocean views and an open floor plan with an ocean-inspired color palette. This home features 5 actual bedrooms (with closets and legal egress), 4.5 baths, two living spaces, a dining area, gourmet chef's kitchen, spa and Weber barbecue. Among the creature comforts, The Dolphin Hale touts A/C, Smart Flat Screen TVs, USB ports, and Comfort Height toilets. Moreover, The Dolphin Hale sleeps up to 10 in real beds--no futons or sofa-sleepers here! The jewel of this home is the new chef's kitchen and island serving as a great place for casual breakfasts or Happy Hour!
Located in the master-planned community of Princeville, guests of The Dolphin Hale also will appreciate its proximity to the Princeville shopping center, golf courses and The St Regis Hotel--all within walking distance of the house. In addition, there is a jungle path to the private Kaweonui Beach aka Sealodge Beach that can be hiked, but caution is advised when wet. Further, the world famous Hanalei Beach Park is just minutes away by car and is well worth a visit.
Upon returning to The Dolphin Hale after your day trip to any one of the numerous island attractions, relax in the 115-jet spa off the lower lanai, or have drinks and barbecue on the upper lanai--both overlooking the ocean. The sound of the surf breaking below also can be heard from the guest rooms, so open the windows and enjoy the cool Trade Winds as well as the amenities* of The Dolphin Hale on your next visit to the North Shore.
Please be advised that The Dolphin Hale sits between two homes occupied by full-time residents. As a good neighbor policy, bachelor or bachelorette parties, weddings, or other such events are prohibited.
* We strive to ensure that The Dolphin Hale functions as it should upon your arrival. Why Tammy Russell-Rice chose Kauai
Since that fateful summer day back in 2004 when Clayton and I purchased The Dolphin Hale, we have learned a few things about the Vacation Rental business. And our guests are the beneficiaries. Taking things to the next level, we recently added Nancy Miller to Team Dolphin Hale. As your island host, Ms Miller brings years of experience in the hospitality industry on Kauai to the table. And as a concierge, she is happy to make recommendations with your unique party in mind. However, you are on your own when it comes to operating the coffee maker. ; ) With Aloha, Tammy Hawaii Tax ID Number: W31676277-01

Beautiful home in a divine setting!
This dream home is situated in a pleasant, very upscale neighborhood in Princeville and is just as beautiful it looks online. It sits on a cliff with a magnificent view of the ocean. Each time I went out on the upper deck I felt like breaking into the soliloquy from South Pacific: “Wonder how I’d feel, living on a hillside, Looking at an ocean, beautiful and still”!
The house is spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and decorated, and had every amenity for the comfort and enjoyment of our group of nine adults (myself and four daughters and sons-in-law).
Our island host, Nancy Miller was very helpful and responsive. One of the bathrooms had a loose toilet seat, and Nancy had it replaced within an hour of my calling about it.
The beauty of Kauai is breathtaking. Because of closed roads from recent flooding, we could not drive north to see some of the sites we had planned, but a Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour gave us a thrilling view of the entire island. We also went on Captain Andy's sunset dinner cruise along the Napali Coast. It was a fantastic adventure! And there's nothing like eating breakfast on the St. Regis Hotel's elegant outdoor Makana Terrace (less than 5 minutes from the house) while enjoying the ocean vista with Bali Hai as a backdrop. Heavenly!
On this vacation of a lifetime, we visited Oahu, Kauai and the Big Island. The Dolphin Hale, in its beautiful location, was by far the most desirable place we stayed. If I ever return to Kauai I will want to stay again in this lovely home.
Great house with an amazing view! Chef style kitchen with plenty of room for guests.
We had a lovely stay at the Dolphin Hale house. We explored the Princeville area after getting married the previous week in the Poipu area. The weather in the north didn’t quite cooperate but we did manage an epic day at Queens Bath and the beach at Hanalei Bay, both very close. Ho’opi’ falls was another epic day close by. We enjoyed the shops and restaurants close by as well. Tiki Iniki in Princeville was our favorite for lunch and cocktails in the evening. Tahiti Nui in Hanalei was also great fun. We saw our wedding singer Haunani play there which was awesome.
The house fit 10 adults but would be better suited for 8 and two kids. It was clean, spacious and well equipped. The property management was always available and very helpful. The hot tub was great, even in the cloudy weather. The kitchen was the star of the show. We had a chef in our group who said the kitchen was the best he had cooked in as far as residential accommodations go. After dinners and desserts we had plenty of room to stretch out and relax. I would recommend this property to both families and groups of friends alike.
Aloha Steve ~ Congratulations again on your nuptials. Clayton and I are pleased to know that, as you said to me, you and your bride made "memories that will last a lifetime" at The Dolphin Hale. I agree with your assessment of the bedrooms. While the Twin Fish Room can be set up as a King, it is the smallest bedroom in the house. Just another reason why it is important for travelers to discuss their particular needs with owners in advance. In any case, I am pleased all worked out well for your party of 10 in the end. ~ Mahalo, Tammy
Beautiful Home away from Home
This was the first time we rented a house for vacation instead of staying at a hotel and were extremely happy that we tried Dolphin Hale. Our group consisted of 5 adults and 2 young boys, 8 and 10. The bedrooms were perfect for us to spread out. We could all then gather in the great room for meals. We had breakfast each morning enjoying the ocean view while watching the Albatross flying over and sometimes spotting an occasional whale off in the distance. Perfect time of year for both! We frequented the nearby Foodland many times and they always had what we were looking for. The kitchen was amazing and was well stocked with dishes, pans and tools and even miscellaneous things like coffee filters, sugar packets and various spices.
I was amazed by the friendly neighbors that I met while walking thru the neighborhood. They all seemed to enjoy talking about the area and things to see and do.
I hear that there will be AC soon and that will make the place even better. We had rain almost every day so it wasn't really super hot, but the one day when the sun came out and there was no wind and high humidity, we did miss the cool ocean breeze. The covered driveway was great for getting in and out of the car while it was raining.
I would love another visit to Kauai and I would love to stay here again. Highly Recommend Dolphin Hale.
Aloha Phyllis ~ Clayton and I are very pleased to know that your first experience opting for a vacation rental, The Dolphin Hale, for your family vacation was a positive one. We work hard to truly make it a Home Away from Home. I just wish all our guests were as lovely and respectful of the property as you and yours. And on that note, I'd like to remind travelers that vacation rentals are private homes first and foremost. ~ Mahalo, Tammy
Quiet Hawaiian Getaway
Clean, plenty of towels and stocked well. Nice ocean breeze and quiet neighborhood. Located close enough to food market that we could enjoy a nice walk.
Aloha Tammi ~ Mahalo for giving The Dolphin Hale 5 Stars. It sounds like you and yours enjoyed the new walking path and got some exercise. Me, I prefer to drive to the Princeville Shopping Center. I find it just a little too far to trek by foot. However, come summertime, guests who do make the hike will appreciate the new A/C at The Dolphin Hale upon their return. ~ Mahalo, Tammy
Spacious and comfortable.
Our group thoroughly enjoyed the Dolphin Hale, They really appreciated the luxury of enough bedrooms and bathrooms. Lovely high quality furnishings and amenities. We had local friends over for a dinner with plenty of socializing space for all. And Princeville is tops for convenience as well as scenery.
Aloha Cathi ~ As a tri-level house, one of the real advantages to The Dolphin Hale is that the bedrooms are separated from the main living areas--providing individuals privacy or quiet time away from the group as desired. And when it is time to socialize, the Open Floor Plan of the kitchen/family/dining areas (as you mentioned) is ideal whether you be a host or guest of the party! ~ Mahalo for sharing, Tammy
I recommend this place!!
We rented this home for 7 of us for a family vacation. This house is as shown in the pictures. It was very clean and very well stocked. I don't think that I can list all the items that the house had, but pretty much everything that we looked for, we found! Examples: scissors, bottle openers, soaps of all kinds; plenty of tissues, toilet paper and paper towels; lots and lots of beach towels; bath towels and linens; lots of dishes, pots and cutlery; some bicycles to use (check the tire pressure before you head out! there is a hand pump there if you need it...), a garden hose handy for washing off sandy feet and fins outside after returning from the beach, etc. etc. All appliances worked well.
The house is located in a quiet, respectable neighbourhood. There is a beautiful local beach nearby which is only accessible through a short footpath, and therefore is semi-private. It was great for swimming and snorkelling! (Be aware this beach does not have a lifeguard, and locals said sometimes there are dangerous currents here - may not be suitable for children - our group consisted of all adults who are good swimmers and safety aware. There are other supervised beaches nearby, accessible by vehicle.) The house is located in Princeville, and sometimes the drive to some Kauai activities seemed a bit far, but once we were "back home", we appreciated the house's large size and amenities.
The house has two full master suites, one smaller suite, as well as 2 other bedrooms which share a common bathroom. There was plenty of room for the 7 of us. The kitchen and living areas are very spacious, so we never felt cramped or like we were bumping into one another. There is a little nook on the main floor for anyone who would just like to curl up with a book while others are playing cards in the living room! The large dining room table seated us all comfortably, with still more bar chairs at the kitchen island for those sipping a drink and watching the cooking going on.
While I thought that the rental price of this house was a little steep, the adage, "you get what you pay for", applies. This house was worth every penny! We didn't encounter any trouble during our stay. I would recommend this place.
Aloha Paula ~ Years before Clayton and I purchased The Dolphin Hale, we were guests at a vacation rental in Bodega Bay, CA. It was a beautiful house with sweeping views of the ocean, but it had little else to offer—we were even expected to bring our own sheets?! So, when it came time to stock The Dolphin Hale, we wanted to ensure our guests did not go without the creature comforts that make a house a home. We are pleased to know we succeeded. Mahalo for sharing your positive experience at The Dolphin Hale. ~ Tammy
Situated in one of Princeville's most prestigious neighborhoods amongst nesting Albatross, The Dolphin Hale awaits you and yours on your next trip to the North Shore.
