About Deborah Wyler

I am a former Brookline High School English teacher, and currently an After School Teacher at the Peirce Elementary School in Newton. In addition to teaching, I am an event designer and event planner for a Newton based catering company. In addition to working in the catering business, I paint and enjoy selling my work at Oak Bluffs' Featherstone Center for the Arts. My family and I live in Newton MA with our 2 cats, Oliver, a Ragdoll, and Scarlett O'Kitty, a Maine Coon Cat along with the ever jovial Paco, our Portuguese Water Dog. We have owned two homes on the Island. Our first home was in West Tisbury where we enjoyed 20 years there as part time residents and landlords for summer renters. We thoroughly enjoy our second Vineyard home in 'the city' of Oak Bluffs. Everything is so close and yet we enjoy complete privacy, surrounded by beautiful trees and plantings on a quiet street. We have over 25 years experience renting out our homes, and we have only had great experiences!

Deborah Wyler purchased this house in 2008

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

We have such fond memories of our time on Martha's Vineyard, August 2010! From the moment we stepped on to the property we knew we had chosen just the right vacation house for us. Our 18 year old daughter was so impressed with the decor, and the rest of us found it truly magical as well. The owner has done a fabulous job creating a truly charming, comfortable home away from home. We brought our bikes, and found the location to be perfect for a ride to the beach or to the town of Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven, even Edgartown! Lots of times we even took our bikes out to Chappy. We had perfect weather, so we weren't in the cottage very often during the daytime, but it was such a welcoming, homey place to come home to in the evening for a night-time barbecue or drinks on the side porch. Just perfect! I would highly recommend this property.

I loved this house!

  • 5 of 5

This charming sunny house is beautiful inside and out. The grounds are meticulously maintained with many perennial floral plantings and mature trees providing welcome shade. 5 minute walk to salt water beach. Easy bike ride to Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs. Owner has put a lot of love and care into this rental. All of us had a great time.

Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5

We were a family of 6 with our pet and Deborah's cottage revitalized us--ready for the school/college year. The whole cottage (including the outside), is very tastefully and thoughtfully decorated. We loved all the vibrant colors in every room. The outdoors has innumerable nooks to sit and chat and be lazy. My family (my mom, 2 sons--college & HS), my sister, husband all fell in love with it. The very convenient location makes it very user friendly. The outdoor grill and picnic table added another dimension for the perfect getaway.

Deborah is always available to her renters and the whole process (which started from last year) was easy and we feel a warm connection with her. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this cottage to anyone....anytime!!!!!! LOVED IT!!!

Darling place

  • 5 of 5

This house is adorable! With all of the bright colors and carefully chosen furnishings, it's got a very fun vibe. Whoever decorated the house has serious talent. It's got a great kitchen with an awesome stove and a nice large living room that's a great place to flop at the end of a long day at the beach. The beach is a very short distance from the house, but it's not very large, so I would recommend making the trek to one of the bigger beaches for swimming and lounging. What the small beach is good for however is clamming. It was my first time clamming and it was so much fun. Perhaps the owner can consider purchasing a clam rake for guests to use during their stay. I stayed the week prior to the guest who said the place needs an exterminator. Over the course of 1 week I saw--and killed-- one small spider. I should add that I am neurotic about all things creepy crawly so I definitely would have noticed a lot of spiders. Any talk of infestations is pure fiction. You want hermetically sealed, go vacation on the space shuttle-- this place is awesome.

Walk in the door, and it's so much more!

My husband, two adult sons, and I decided to take a long-overdue vacation as a family last summer, and we all agreed upon Martha’s Vineyard. I hadn’t been there in 30 years, so I was unfamiliar with what our lodging options would be. I came across the “Homeaway” site and was fortunate to find this property available for the week in July we were hoping for.

The photo in the listing doesn’t do the house justice. Situated on a sizeable lot, the grey quaint- looking Cape belies the welcoming colorful and fanciful interior. From the moment we walked in, we all felt as if we were walking into a home, not just a house.

Every room is painted a different vibrant color, and the furniture was clearly selected with care and good taste. The bright and festive décor immediately lifted our spirits and actually made us want to stay indoors more than we had thought we would.

There was plenty of room for all of us to spread out and not feel as if we were on top of one another. The beds in all three bedrooms were comfortable, and we were pleased that there was a bathroom on each floor. Nice linens and warm blankets were provided.

The fireplace in the living room lent a cozy feeling to the room. Even though we never actually made a fire, it was nice to know that we could have if we’d wanted to.

The house is located on a quiet dead-end street, and there was a similarly quiet beach, albeit a bit small, just a short walking distance away. When we wanted to go to the larger South Beach, we just hopped into our car and drove there. We had the best of both worlds.

There was no need for us to call the owner or property manager during our stay, as everything went smoothly. I didn’t use the dishwasher, because I’m accustomed to washing dishes by hand. The dishes, by the way, were as tastefully selected as the furniture.

I would definitely return to this property and have already recommended it to friends.

Our house is only a three minute walk to a private beach! There you will have gorgeous views of the Lagoon, peace and tranquility. No need to drive anywhere! We are equidistant from the centers of Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven (about one mile to each). We are located in Lagoon Heights, the area behind the hospital. There is easy public transportation to the towns, as well as easy access to the bike path. Perfect for families and those who love having barbecues on the beach, watching the sunset, and going out for a swim whenever the mood strikes.
