About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6), 3 night min.

This 100 year old, single-story, historic adobe home was recently completely remodeled. It maintains its Santa Fe charm while offering you all the modern amenities, from king size beds to high end appliances and all the accessories you will need to feel at home. The original hand-hewn viga ceilings are exquisite, the thick adobe walls masterfully done, the brick floors add warmth to the entire house. The courtyard is the ultimate sanctuary, the beautifully landscaped yard wraps around the house, the patio with its wrought iron furniture makes this the perfect place for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just wine with friends as you enjoy the always perfect climate of Santa Fe. The historic neighborhood is quiet and there is a feeling of warmth and friendliness.

Casa del la Fuente is named for the beautiful fountain which adorns the flowering garden with its meandering flagstone paths. There are colorful flowers blooming all spring, summer and into the fall. There are several places to sit and relax with a beverage and listen to the birds while in the privacy of adobe walls.

As you relax and enjoy one of the three portals you can hear the church bells ringing from the Santaurio de Guadalupe just a block away. It is one of the many historic buildings you can tour while visiting this beautiful old city. Santa Fe boasts having the oldest government building, the oldest house and the oldest church in the US. History abounds down every street. Exciting art galleries and shopping for one of a kind jewelry and art pieces. Travel back in time to 'The City Different' with it's European ambience.

There are works of art in every room that reflect the artisans of New Mexico. The decor reflects the warmth and beauty of Santa Fe. In the cooler months you are enticed into just relaxing and enjoying a fire in the pueblo style fireplace.

You can't beat this location, a 5 to 10 minute walk and you're at the Santa Fe Plaza; 5 minutes past the Plaza to Canyon Rd with all its galleries; 5 minutes the opposite direction and you're at San Busco Mall; 5 minutes past that and you're at the Railyard area where the farmers' market, galleries, restaurants, train depot and so much more await you.

We invite you to stay at our home and fall in love with all that Santa Fe has to offer. Casa de la Fuente, with it's adobe ambiance and beautiful decor will add old world charm to your visit.

About Mary Hering

Mary and Jack are retired and reside a lot of the time in California. Jack was a construction superintendent most of his career. Mary, a graduate from University of CA at Long Beach with a BA in Drawing and Painting, worked as a business owner and a graphic designer. Mary has been an animal lover all of her life and with her daughter shows Pembroke Welsh Corgis all over the US. RVing is also a passion for Jack and Mary. But most of all they enjoy visiting Santa Fe, NM for the wonderful festivals and to enjoy all of the wonderful restaurants and sights and sounds of "The City Different."

Mary Hering purchased this house in 2011

Why Mary Hering chose Santa Fe

Purchased in 2011 Casa de la Fuente had everything we were looking for in a vacation home. It is extremely close to the Plaza, and it is in a very old historic district of Santa Fe. The interior is warm and friendly with the double adobe walls and very comfortable layout. The brick floors and huge hand hewn vigas and board ceilings are reminiscent of building practices from centuries ago. The home is perfect for two couples with each having its own entrance and with enough separation to provide privacy. The flowering gardens are lush and inviting. The fountain adds ambiance to that afternoon al fresco dining experience. And the home is very pet friendly which was very important to us as we often travel with one of our small dogs.

What makes this house unique

Casa de la Fuente is the perfect home for two couples. The kitchen is a cook's dream. It is very well designed to save steps while preparing a meal. The front portal is perfect with it's small table and two chairs for your morning coffee. And the side portal has a BBQ and several seating areas to enjoy dining al fresco while enjoying the water sounds from the fountain near by. The living room is adequate to entertain and very comfortable yet cozy and within steps to the table and kitchen. And don't forget the Cowgirl BBQ for evenings entertainment just a couple of minutes walk. So many restaurants are so very close by.

Cozy and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We booked this property for Christmas in Santa Fe and it was just great! The location is so convenient and the home is very comfortable and well equipped. Me, my husband, our two kids and my parents all fit comfortably in the home and were warm and snug in the thick adobe. It was a charming place to spend our holiday!

Owner's Response: Christmas is a special time in Santa Fe. And to be there with your family is truly a blessing. The walk up Canyon Road, the pinion wood burning in the kiva fireplaces and the marvelous restaurants make Santa Fe a truly special experience. We are so glad your chose Casa de la Fuente for your holiday family gathering.

A wonderful 11 days at Casa de la Fuentes

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful pre-holiday break at Casa de la Fuentes. We appreciated the wonderful location which enabled us to walk to everything we wanted to do in town. The home is lovely and the kitchen well equipped for our family of cooks. It was just what we needed to push the re-set button and prepare for the holiday season. Thank you so much! We will be back!

Owner's Response: Winter and the holidays are a wonderful time to visit Santa Fe with the building lined with farolitos. SF is like no other place during Christmas. It still holds on to the meaning of the holidays. We are so happy you were able to enjoy the casita and the well equipped, functional kitchen. We sincerely hope you come to SF in the future and visit us again.

Memorable, comfy home

  • 5 of 5

Mom and I just returned from Santa Fe where we stayed in this charming home for 6 days. We drank a beer on the porch, watched the sunset, cooked in the well-appointed kitchen, had a small fire and watched the Travel Channel two nights- so comfy!!

This home away from home was the perfect platform for making memories! It's so well decorated and so tasteful! Out of all the places we've seen in our 20 years of visiting Santa Fe, this is the tops!

Thanks for sharing your home with us, Mary!

Owner's Response: Hi Stephanie, Wow, I wish I was there right now sitting on the lovely portal enjoying a beverage. It is nice to enjoy all that Santa Fe has to offer but an occasional quiet evening in front of the fireplace with a home cooked meal is hard to beat. Especially when you are enjoying the architecture of a 100 yr old adobe casita. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and sincerely hope you will come back to Santa Fe soon. There is so much to see and do in Santa Fe.

Lovely home, close to every thing.

  • 5 of 5

We found the home to be very attractive. It was nice to sit out on the patio and drink our morning coffee. What I really liked was that I felt "at home". This home is in a quite neighborhood with many older homes. It is within walking distance of the Plaza and many restaurants. The property was clean and well maintained. I will recommend this property to my friends that are interested in visiting Santa Fe.

Owner's Response: We are so happy you enjoyed Casa de la Fuente, Gayle. And I hope your Pembroke Welsh Corgi, MissT enjoyed the yard and walks in the neighborhood. Santa Fe is so pet friendly with lots of patio restaurants that accept your dog. We love the outdoor portals and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning while listening to the nearby church bells ringing. We have had lots of relaxing al fresco dinners out on the side portal while being serenaded by the sounds of the fountain. Please visit "Casa de la Fuente" again and "The City Different."

Home in Santa Fe

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful home in very convenient neighborhood. The house is roomy and very well laid out. Two large bedrooms, each with their own private bathroom makes it ideal for two couples or a family. It even has two parking spaces!!!!!! Everything you need is in the kitchen, but why cook when you can walk to numerous restaurants? There are various outdoor spaces where you can enjoy your breakfast coffee or evening cocktail.

One of the things that I enjoyed the most was the artwork. Everywhere you looked, there was something new to discover -- both inside and out. This house was intended to be a home and you are immediately at home in Santa Fe at Casa de la Fuente!! I am so glad that Mary and Jack decided to let others enjoy this Casa and Santa Fe like a native!

Mary is extremely easy to work with. Questions were answered within a few short hours. She had great suggestions for dinner and activities. I have rented numerous vacation properties and by far this has been the best experience. If you are going to Santa Fe, stay at Casa de la Fuente, I know I will when we return!

Thank you Mary and Jack for sharing this wonderful property.

Owner's Response: Thank You Julie, for taking the time to review Casa de la Fuente. And such a wonderful review! I am so honored that you stayed in our adobe casita. We enjoyed collecting the artwork and feel that the Santa Fe should be reflected in the pieces around the home. As the house is located in the Guadalupe District and just a few blocks from the old Santaurio de Guadalupe church we decorated the master bedroom with "Our Lady of Guadalupe" art. The guest bedroom is more a western theme with a wonderful cowhide rug and an original Native American weaving. Some of the pieces are whimsical but still have the overall theme of the area. We enjoyed having you stay with us and look forward to your next visit. Thank You again!

Charming and close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this charming home! The interior is cozy and features warm southwest decor. The exterior patios are great for sitting with a cup of coffee or glass of wine and enjoying the peaceful neighborhood. It is well appointed with everything you need for a comfortable stay in Santa Fe. The location is within walking distance to The Plaza with it's amazing restaurants, museums and shops. We also drove out of town to hike at Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks and Bandelier National Monuments. These destinations offer gorgeous natural beauty as well as local cultural history and are within easy driving distance of the house. Details we appreciated were an extra comfy King sized bed, well equipped kitchen, easy off street parking and a small fenced yard for our elderly dachshund's needs. The owner was helpful and very attentive to details to ensure that our stay was perfect!

Owner's Response: Thank You Greg and Sharon for reviewing Casa de la Fuente. We are so happy that you enjoyed the peaceful neighborhood and the closeness to Santa Fe's best restaurants, dining and culture. And we hope your dachshund had a great time exploring the garden and yard which must have been in bloom while you were there. As we occasionally travel with a dog also, we selected the home for it's wonderful garden and walled privacy. We hope you will revisit Casa de la Fuente in the future and once again enjoy all that Santa Fe has to offer.
