This 100 year old, single-story, historic adobe home was recently completely remodeled. Casa del la Fuente is named for the beautiful fountain which adorns the flowering garden with its meandering flagstone paths. There are colorful flowers blooming all spring, summer and into the fall. There are several places to sit and relax with a beverage and listen to the birds while in the privacy of adobe walls.

As you relax and enjoy one of the three portals you can hear the church bells ringing from the Santaurio de Guadalupe just a block away. History abounds down every street. Exciting art galleries and shopping for one of a kind jewelry and art pieces. Travel back in time to 'The City Different' with it's European ambience.

There are works of art in every room that reflect the artisans of New Mexico. The decor reflects the warmth and beauty of Santa Fe. In the cooler months you are enticed into just relaxing and enjoying a fire in the pueblo style fireplace.

You can't beat this location, a 5 to 10 minute walk and you're at the Santa Fe Plaza; 5 minutes past the Plaza to Canyon Rd with all its galleries; 5 minutes the opposite direction and you're at San Busco Mall; 5 minutes past that and you're at the Railyard area where the farmers' market, galleries, restaurants, train depot and so much more await you.

We invite you to stay at our home and fall in love with all that Santa Fe has to offer. Casa de la Fuente, with it's adobe ambiance and beautiful decor will add old world charm to your visit.

About Mary Hering

Mary and Jack are retired and reside a lot of the time in California. Jack was a construction superintendent most of his career. Mary, a graduate from University of CA at Long Beach with a BA in Drawing and Painting, worked as a business owner and a graphic designer. Mary has been an animal lover all of her life and with her daughter shows Pembroke Welsh Corgis all over the US. RVing is also a passion for Jack and Mary. But most of all they enjoy visiting Santa Fe, NM for the wonderful festivals and to enjoy all of the wonderful restaurants and sights and sounds of "The City Different."

Mary Hering purchased this house in 2011

Why Mary Hering chose Downtown

Purchased in 2011 Casa de la Fuente had everything we were looking for in a vacation home. It is extremely close to the Plaza, and it is in a very old historic district of Santa Fe. The interior is warm and friendly with the double adobe walls and very comfortable layout. The brick floors and huge hand hewn vigas and board ceilings are reminiscent of building practices from centuries ago. The home is perfect for two couples with each having its own entrance and with enough separation to provide privacy. The flowering gardens are lush and inviting. The fountain adds ambiance to that afternoon al fresco dining experience. And the home is very pet friendly which was very important to us as we often travel with one of our small dogs.

What makes this house unique

Casa de la Fuente is the perfect home for two couples. The kitchen is a cook's dream. It is very well designed to save steps while preparing a meal. The front portal is perfect with it's small table and two chairs for your morning coffee. And the side portal has a BBQ and several seating areas to enjoy dining al fresco while enjoying the water sounds from the fountain near by. The living room is adequate to entertain and very comfortable yet cozy and within steps to the table and kitchen. And don't forget the Cowgirl BBQ for evenings entertainment just a couple of minutes walk. So many restaurants are so very close by.

Great house in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our extended, 6-week stay in Santa Fe. The house is completely furnished and we had everything we needed to make it like home. We were able to cook and BBQ in the fully furnished kitchen. We have 2 small dogs and the house is very "dog friendly." The walking path along the river is only a block away and the dogs loved walking there. But the best part of the house is it's location. We were able to walk to everything. We walked to restaurants for lunch and dinner, the Farmer's Market is really close and the Plaza is an easy walk also. There is a great movie theater in the area that is walkable. A great house in a wonderful neighborhood.

Owner's Response: You were such lovely guests and we deeply appreciate the wonderful review of Casa de la Fuente. Our dogs enjoy the home and yard and walking in the quiet neighborhood also. The historic Guadalupe District is full of historic homes and ambiance. And I will have to go visit the new movie theater at the Railyard. There is so much to do and see in Santa fe. I am glad you could stay for such an extended visit.

Such a warm and lovely home! And so quiet!

  • 5 of 5

We love this home! This was our second stay and we enjoyed cooking in the well equipped kitchen and evening fires. The neighborhood is so quiet and walkable to pretty much everywhere. Thank you, Mary and Jack! We will be back.

Owner's Response: Hi Diane We are so honored that you decided to return to Casa de la Fuente once again. It is such a wonderful compliment when people come back. You are more than welcome anytime. The casa's kitchen is well equipped and we try to supply everything you might need to "cook in." The kitchen has everything including upscale ss appliances to prepare a gourmet meal and enjoy the wonderful fireplace with the endless supply of piñon firewood. Nothing better than a quiet evening enjoying the peacefulness of Santa fe. Once again thank you for staying with us!

Charming and comfortable in a great location

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfectly New Mexican, and our family of four felt completely relaxed here. Mary was a very accommodating host. It was great to be able to walk downtown or to the railyard district, and it was an easy drive up into the mountains for hikes and adventures. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds were comfortable, the living room was cozy, and the outside area was nice for sunny lunches. We would love to stay again on our next visit.

Owner's Response: We were so happy you chose Casa de la Fuente for your stay. And we are glad we could accommodate your change of plans due to a canceled flight. Luckily we could move you back a day so that you had your full weeks stay. We would be so pleased to have you return and stay in our casita and enjoy even more of what Santa fe has to offer its visitors. We always try and keep the home in perfect condition so that our guests have everything they may need or want during their stay.

Must stay in Santa Fe

  • 5 of 5

We loved your home and enjoyed our time in Santa Fe. This is by far one of the nicest VRBO rentals we've found any where. The interior decor was very special and the premises were clean and all we hoped for.

Owner's Response: Thank You for the glowing review. We try to present the feeling of Santa Fe in the decor and in the architecture of the home with its pueblo revival design. The 2 ft thick walls, vigas and nichos add to your experience of old Santa Fe. We have decorated the home with things we have purchased in the City Different. Like the "Our Lady of Guadalupe statue", "retablos," and "navajo rugs" that hang thoughout. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay at Casa de la Fuente.

Historic Guadalupe district gem

  • 5 of 5

This home was beautifully appointed and conveniently located. The Santa Fe river walk was a block away. Railyard was a 5 minute walk (great farmer's market), and the plaza was a 15 minute walk. There were many great restaurants you can walk to (unless it is raining as in our case). And Trader Joe's was a 5 minute drive.

Tranquil and convenient

  • 5 of 5

Lovely home close to the railyard district. We stayed with our adult children who had never been to SF before so the location was perfect for walking, and restaurants. We didn't cook much but the kitchen was more than adequate. Bedrooms and living room very comfy.

One recommendation--a screen door on all the entrances. One of the great aspects of SF is the cool mornings and evenings. Since the house is adobe and no a/c, we opened windows up at these times to cool the house down.

Owner's Response: Thank You Marilyn. We are so happy you stayed at Casa de la Fuente. I am sorry that you may have experienced some warmer weather. We were there in August also and the weather was very pleasant. I am definitely considering options for cooling down the home at night. We have ceiling fans that are super but will consider your suggestion for screen doors to the bedrooms. We are also investigating ductless AC to see if that is a possibility for our historic adobe. Might be good for those few warm days that we sometimes experience in SF.
