Guestbook comments from the manager

My nine AP English students and I truly enjoyed our stay at Hill Top House. Leigh and his staff thought of everything to make our two-night visit absolutely wonderful. We built a fire, toasted marshmallows, and made smores. The kids are still talking about the trip! Thank you for your gracious hospitality. I will definitely keep Lake Eden Events in mind when planning my next field trip to the mountains !!!

Great for larger group

  • 5 of 5

It was perfect for us - four couples planning a visit to Biltmore Estate. The beds were comfortable. The space was ample. The screened in porch was a perfect place to gather. We were away from town and in a quiet, somewhat secluded spot. The only problem we had was when more than one shower was being used, the downstairs did not get warm water. A minor inconvenience for all the benefits of the property.

Owner's Response: Thank you for visiting Lake Eden and for your feedback on the shower. The hot water heater is brand new at Hilltop so we will definitely have the plumber take a look!

A perfect, peaceful vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family of 6 had a peaceful, happy holiday vacation at Hilltop House. It is so spacious inside- plenty of room to spread out, and to come together for meals, games, and fun by the fire. It's a perfect location- so quiet and peaceful, and yet it's very close to restaurants and shopping in Black Mountain (and Asheville too). The caretakers are so thoughtful and quick to offer their help if needed. We are so grateful to have discovered Hilltop house and the Lake Eden properties, and hope to come back for future visits!

Great place for a holiday reunion!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this cozy house for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The property is beautiful and the house is very cozy and well equipped. We had plenty of space to spread out. We especially appreciated the well-equipped kitchen since we had plenty of Thanksgiving cooking to do! The property is beautiful and great for hikes with the dogs and to work up an appetite for the turkey!

Hilltop House is set on our private 60+ acre property where the historic Black Mountain College once thrived during the '40s and '50s as one of the most important educational and artistic experiments. Buckminster Fuller built the first geodesic dome here on the property and Elbert Einstein taught here.

Some of the highest points east of the Rockies stand tall in the distance, mountain lakes and streams welcome you, and the beauty and spirit of this place is truly relaxing and magical. While you enjoy a feeling of being far away you have the luxury of being close to so many great experiences... Black Mountain (5 minutes), Asheville (20 min), Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore Estate, Cherokee, and outdoor adventures abound (hikes, rafting, mountain biking, climbing, picnics, etc).
