Modern Shipping Container Studio with Ocean Views

The latest Pointhouse project is Studio ISO, another light-filled glass box in the forest. Two standard 8*20′ shipping containers sandwich a taller timber-framed area. Discreet slot windows punctuate the seacans while full height glazing frames beautiful ocean views. Intended as a flexible space for exercise, art, massage, or yoga it can also provide extra guest accommodations.

THE PROPERTY

The five acre waterfront estate includes Studio ISO, Aerie, a glazed Modern Treehouse and the Pointhouse, as well as 260 feet of low bank oceanfront commanding a sunny point with a private beach. The Pointhouse operates mainly as a B&B for guests who want a little more pampering and wish to be directly at the waters edge. It can also be booked for vacations or small private events such as intimate weddings, family reunions, birthdays.., with or without the Aerie or Studio ISO.

Studio ISO offers space for art, massage, exercise as well as guest accommodations. It can be booked separately or with the Aerie for larger family/friend groups that want individual private spaces to retreat to.

The estate property includes a dedicated beach trail to access the waterfront for beachcombing, kayaking, SUP or swimming. We also have a mooring buoy in the bay for temporary overnight anchorage for B&B guests or guests renting out the whole Pointhouse. Extra charges may apply for moorage.
Other property features include natural forest, gardens, firepits, viewpoints and a new Lido Spa with oceanfront sauna, cold plunge, lido and spa gardens. New spa will include zen studio for massage, yoga, spa treatments or meditation. Additional charges will apply for Aerie guests. Check availability ahead of time.

If the waterfront amenities are not available, the beach at Sargeant Bay is a short walk or drive away. It is sandy at low tide much more expansive and very nice for swimming. There is amazing kayaking in Halfmoon Bay, Gibsons and the Inlet and kayaks are easily rented in those areas.

The location is very central to all that the Sunshine Coast offers -Restaurants, galleries, hiking, biking, kayaking, boating, golf, tennis, and more. Ten Minutes to Sechelt - 30 minutes to either Pender Harbor or Gisbons. Easy access to Vancouver Island, Vancouver or Whistler by ferry or float plane. The only problem with planning to explore the Coast is -You won't ever want to leave the property!

Perfect for a romantic getaway, a relaxing family vacation, small weddings or meetings, a week of sun and water sports with friends, or cosying up by the fire to watch the winter storms.

Quiet Retreat in Halfmoon Bay

The location is surrounded by forest, very private and extremely quiet. The private hot tub was great! The studio exceeded our expectations, and it just as nice in person as it is in the photos. We would definitely stay again!

Perfect little getaway studio!

We really enjoyed our stay in this studio! It was just what we needed for a little vacation. The views of the ocean was great, and the short walk down too! Great Halfmoon Bay Getaway!

Every fall we head to the Sunshine Coast for a little break from the business of city life - this stay did not disappoint! We had several slow mornings with coffee, watched the stars from the hot tub, enjoyed a family movie night in the loft and endlessly explored the beach and beautiful trails around the area. The cabin is private an quiet, it worked well with two adults and our 12-year old, we hope to come back!

Happy to Vacay on Sunshine Coast

Incredible location and surroundings! Truly a special place. The home is beautifully decorated, but maybe not super comfortable. For example, the kitchen chairs are plastic and the sofa/chaise doesn’t have a real back, just pillows that slide off. The guests before us put dirty dishes back in the cupboards and broke a blind. Given that there is not AC, could have used some shade from the hot sun during the afternoons. Beautiful sand beach through a train on the property and the most comfortable duvet ever.

A dream escape!

Words cannot even express what a wonderful little dream escape this place was for us. It's modern and clean and embedded perfectly within nature. The design is beautiful. Our hosts Heather and Bob were top notch and got back to us immediately with any questions we had while we stayed. This place was so perfectly perfect that we want to make it an annual trip to get away. It was so perfect in fact, that my partner proposed while we were there! We will definitely be coming back here.

What a lovely weekend

Such a lovely weekend away, the house is just stunning! Heads up there’s no AC and we couldn’t find a switch for the ceiling fan but the trees keep it shady! I would most definitely stay there again, they had everything we needed for a blissful weekend!

Relaxing and Idyllic

This was a great property with beautiful surroundings, perfect to just unwind and relax. Heather and Bob were flexible and accommodating. It's a very bright place without much in the way of window coverings, so if you're a late sleeper, you may want a mask. And the upper loft is accessed by a ladder, so you'd want a bit of agility to go up there. As a "pro tip", the TV is up in the loft, so if you want to watch things on the main floor, bring a laptop and/or monitor (that's what we did) - or just enjoy the nature. We loved it, and would stay again!

A perfect retreat weekend, situated in the trees just up from the ocean

The vacation rental was amazing single mom with my two sons, rested well, bbq and great kitchen for all our meals in and we enjoyed the area hiking, and beach walks! Hosts Bob and Heather were welcoming, friendly and had great suggestions for what to do in the area.

Everything you need for a great getaway

Just got back from a wonderful stay at Studio ISO. What an awesome place! Everything you need for the perfect getaway has been thought of and well organized. The Studio is so peaceful and the proximity to Sargent Bay is excellent. A short walk and you’re at the water. We enjoyed beach time at Sargent Bay and used the well equipped kitchen at the Studio to make some great meals (perfect for us foodies!). Charging our EV was right outside the Studio which we appreciated. Heather was fast to respond to any questions and the rental process was very easy. The only suggestion we have would be the addition of some blinds for the windows. The daylight they add is amazing and we really loved all the windows but when the sun comes up you know it! We would highly recommend and look forward to returning in the future.

We bought the property in Dec 2005 as our future retirement home while we were still residing and working in Dawson Creek, BC. It was a successful vacation rental till Feb 2010 when we began a complete reconstruction of the main house and built a new guesthouse (Aerie) on the bluff above.
We made the move to the Sunshine Coast full time in January 2011 living first in the Aerie guesthouse and finally in Jun 2012, the expanded and renovated Pointhouse now a boutique B&B.
We expanded our rental offerings in 2016 with the purchase of the Annex, a 3 bedroom home overlooking the ocean on a separate property, to serve families and groups up to 6. Furnishing the Annex with the stored contents of 2 shipping containers that had been used during construction of the Pointhouse and Aerie allowed us to start construction of Studio Iso in 2019. It has been enjoyed now since May of 2020.
Till the next building bug strikes, the combination of B&B guests from all over the world and vacation rentals keeps us hopping. Fortunately, life on the coast is a more relaxed pace allowing us more playtime, family time and travel opportunities.

The location is spectacular - You have to visit to appreciate. Most beautiful landscapes on the Sunshine Coast.

Sargeant Bay Provincial Park is a little known jewel. A secluded log strewn halfmoon shingle beach with sand at low tide backed by a magnificent bird sanctuary and lovely hiking and mountain bike paths.

Gibsons, Sechelt, Pender Harbor and points in between offer innumerable opportunities for sightseeing, cultural and sporting activities and this property is located centrally to it all.
