About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-8)

If you've been surfing Gardiner, Mt on VRBO, you have got to be asking yourself: What is with all these cloned cabins? Let me explain. My cabin and the others were part of the former Yellowstone River Resort. The resort was initially built in 1999 to provide lodging and meals for the Elderhostel programs in and around Yellowstone National Park. In 2005, the owners offered the cabins for sale to individuals. The majority were purchased as rentals or second homes. The exteriors and floor plans are the same. For the most part, it is only the decor that varies and perhaps a few gizmos.

My cabin (#11) is the only one locally owned and operated. As such, I am able to offer significant savings over my neighbors (as much as $10-$40/night) depending on the time of year. The cabin is set off a bit from the other original cabins and is oriented for the mountains views. You can Google Earth the place at 45 degrees 04' 16.65" N 110 degrees 46' 24.31" W (no airstrikes, please). I maintain the cabin personnally and make myself available to answer questions and provide information to help you make the most of your stay. In return, you supplement my livelihood. I trust that this will always be a fair trade.

Regardless of whether you stay at my place, my neighbors' or elsewhere in the Gardiner area, you are well positioned to explore Yellowstone. As a tourist, fly fisherman or an attendee of the educational programs offered by the Yellowstone Association, the North Entrance provides the best gateway to the Grand Loop and Yellowstone's most sought after features.

For further information on me and my place, refer to the link to my website. For information on lodging providers (some not necessarily on VRBO), you also may want to check with the Gardiner Chamber of Commerce.

Perfect cabin for a family!

  • 5 of 5

We just stayed 5 nights at Wades cabin and loved every minute. Was traveling with three late teen boys and the cabin and area was great for everyone. Cabin is very clean and furnished with everything you need. We will definitly stay here again when we are visiting Yellowstone. Have no worries about this property!

This is our last night at Wade's little piece of mountain paradise. We have stayed at several Homeaway vacation rental properties and Wade's cabin is probably the best appointed of any. The furniture, kitchen appliances, and cabin itself are top notch. He has provided just about every thing you need to cook a meal short of the groceries. Laundry facilities are convenient - he even provides the laundry detergent and the quarters for the commercial machines.

This is our third time at Yellowstone, but first time in the fall. Our first day we were greeted with 6" of snow - absolutely beautiful. For Texans, the snow was a special treat. My brother and his wife are traveling with us this being their first time to Yellowstone.

The cabin has been perfect - both couples having their own bedroom and bath. I would definitely recommend this cabin for a family or two couples.

Perfect

My husband and I stayed there with our daughter and family. This was perfect for two families. It's close to the park and anything you want in Gardiner but not crowded with other people. There is plenty of hiking right from the cabin. We saw a herd of elk grazing outside the door every morning. The cabin has everything you need and is very comfortable. Wade is very nice and helpful. I would go back.

Just Perfect!

I always do a lot of research before I book a cabin and if you do the same thing, do not hesitate to book this cabin. Many of the other rentals I looked at are in the town of Gardiner. They are all right on top of each other. We like to have space. It takes about 10 minutes to drive down the gravel road to get to the park, but there is always wildlife to look at. Wade is very humble in his description of the cabin. There is ample space and it is clean and well furnished. He has spices and some grocery basics. There is plenty of dishwasher soap and laundry soap. Basics such as trash bags, paper towels and tissues are also provided. The beds are comfortable and it was very nice to have the kids (11 and 13)in a room and bathroom of their own. We cooked or grilled every night we were here - saved so much money on food. This was an incredible trip. This was the perfect place for our family to stay after our long trip from Texas. Thank you!!

Wonderful cabin! Would love to stay again!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is amazing and highly recommended. After much research on VRBO, we chose this wonderful cabin due to the favorable reviews and the great communication from the owner. The views of the mountains are amazing both in the morning and night. The porch is wonderful and has a nice grill. The interior is furnished very comfortably and has satellite TV and wireless internet if you need those. It was a hot week at Yellowstone and the air conditioning in the cabin was a welcomed pleasure.

Note that you need to travel a 2 to 4 miles on an unpaved road to get to this cabin depending on which direction you come from. HOWEVER, the road was safe and not a problem at all other than getting some dust on the car which was not a concern since it was a rental car. We actually found the drive fun as it was peaceful with no traffic other than the many elk that we saw on the way to and from Yellowstone National Park. Once you get to the cabin you will ENJOY the peacefulness of the location!

The beds were comfortable and the entire place was clean and well stocked. The owner even provided first aid kits and bug and bear spray just in case it was needed. We gladly picked up our stuff but enjoyed knowing that a cleaning service was provided so that we didn't have to spend much time on it before departing. We were sad to leave and definitely plan to go back as well as recommend this cabin to others.
