We are a worldschooling family with kids ages 7 and 11. We love nature and the outdoors, but don't really have the equipment or skill for true camping. The cabin was perfect because we felt secluded in nature with a beautiful view of the lake and the loons for company, but we could sleep in comfort and use the main building for hot showers and laundry. It was just enough of a camping experience for the kids to feel it was an adventure, but not beyond what we could handle. The kids really enjoyed the canoes and paddle boats, and the lake is quiet so they could safely experiment without prior experience. It was a great stay.

This family sure enjoyed their time in Alaska. With 2 weeks here they had time to see and do a lot in the area. It rained a lot while they were here. But being in a nice warm cabin made their stay very comfortable. We sure enjoyed hosting their stay with us.
friends got heasaches from fuel fumes & owner was overfriendly and dog bit my friend. would not recommend

The Fire Dept checked the place. No order or fumes were found. The person was told the dog might nip and did not listen. They were offered another cabin to stay in, but they still wanted the one they were in. This review was written by someone who had never been in the place. Sadly, VRBO let this happen!
We loved everything about this cabin except the lack of bathroom. Cabin had a port-a-potty; full bathroom and laundry was in a building 5 minutes walk from cabin. Kitchen was good - water was from a 4 gallon jug that Bill refilled whenever we requested. From the cabin we could see the lake with loons & sandhill cranes. We used 1 of the canoes and 1 of the paddle boats, a convenient 5-10 min walk away. Setting is beautiful and quiet; beds comfortable. No wi-fi at cabin but good cell reception. Bill is a great host.
