BeaufortHouse is our 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath vacation home on North River with 2 double beds, 1 queen bed and 2 twin beds. Located on the water about 3 miles from town in a quiet neighborhood, it's close enough to enjoy what beautiful Beaufort has to offer. The eat-in kitchen seats 4 and the dining room seats 8-10. Curl up in the recliner in the living room to enjoy a book, away from the gang, or sit on the screened porch or deck and enjoy the waterfowl and perhaps even dolphin playing in North River. About Kathy King

We live near Charlotte, NC on the waters of Lake Norman and are blessed to have two vacation homes - "BeaufortHouse" in Beaufort, NC and "KingsView" in Blowing Rock, NC. As our children grew up and moved away, we began offering both houses to vacationers

so others could enjoy them.

Kathy King purchased this house in 1980

Why Kathy King chose Beaufort

My husband and I travelled up and down the coast of the two Carolinas for years looking for just the right town. When we spent our first weekend in Beaufort, we knew that we had found our ideal place to have a vacation home. The town is charming and the locals are very friendly. We love the fresh seafood and the many small coastal villages nearby. Beaufort is located about an hour from the New Bern airport which has flights connecting to Raleigh and Charlotte.

If you are looking for a place to stay that feels more like a home rather than some cookie cutter condo, look no further. The large, eat-in kitchen is equiped with just about anything that a cook could want. But, what we love most are the spectacular sunrises over the waters of North River.

What makes this house unique

Private home primed for relaxation. With the gorgeous views and enough room to have our family together for the weekend or a couple of weeks, it's simply our place to make our memories.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I wanted to thank you for sharing your home and tell you how much we enjoyed our stay. Your location was perfect for us as we were traveling the area from Cedar Island to Merrimon to Harkers Island with our realtor some of the time. Such a central location for house hunting and yet wth a quiet setting and beautiful view!! Of course, not without drama as my son cut his foot on an oyster shell on our 3rd day there after all of your warnings. But he had recently had a tetanus shot and we quickly doctored the cuts and now they look quite good. Anyway it was hard to leave and I wish that we could have stayed longer. Maybe next time we will stay longer than one week and I would love to rent with you again (even though our realtor was put off that we didn't rent from her) if you will have us. Thank you again and please feel free to email me anytime if the status of your rental changes.

Wonderful Vacation Home!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was a beautiful property, and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, everything very clean and well kept. Quiet neighborhood, with beautiful view of the Water. the only suggestion I have, is the bushes on back patio need trimming down as it partially blocked our view of the water. Otherwise, a wonderful vacation spot. Thank you!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the great review of BeaufortHouse. I apologize for the overgrown shrubs. My yard man couldn't find a time to trim them because we have been booked almost constantly this summer. It will be done, but unfortunately not in time for your enjoyment. I hope you will conider BeufortHouse for another get-away. Thanks. kathy

Great family time in Beaufort NC

  • 5 of 5

We had the opportunity to stay at the Beaufort house by the North River the weekend of 8/4 - 8/7. It is an older home that is well-maintained and provide all of the necessities for a relaxing stay. We spent hours in the enclosed porch enjoying the views of the water, sunshine, and rain showers. It was located close to downtown Beaufort as well as family-friendly beaches and ferries to other islands. We were able to enjoy a variety of activities in a short time; everyone went home tired but content. We are already talking about a return visit next year. The hosts, Kathy and Jack, were very responsive to our reservation request and any other questions we had. Their recommendations for restaurants and beaches were very helpful. We more than got our money's worth.

Homey

  • 3 of 5

The house feels homey. It has a large roomy space. However, I would recommend some minor maintenance and upgrade in certain areas.

1) Blackout curtains is a must in both living and family room to keep the heat out when the sun is beaming. It gets so hot in both areas. Blackout curtains is needed as well in the twin size bedroom and the room with a toilet.

2) The shower door in the master bedroom is not closing. As a result, water is getting out. Need new door and shower head.

3) There isn't very much water pressure when 2 people are using the bathroom at the same time.

4) Beds in the master bedroom is comfortable. I don't know about the other bedrooms since I didn't stay there.

5) The water outside next to the outdoor shower smells bad. It smells like old water from a shipping container of a ship.

6) The lights outside in the screen porch seems to NOT work the 2nd night we tried to use it. Prior night, all lights were working.

Overall, this is a nice house. Just need minor upkeep and changes to it. I would hate to see a house like this not be maintain properly. Thank you!

Owner's Response: Hi Jennifer, Thank you for the review and for letting us know about the pump noise. (Plumber checked it out and found everything working properly.) Thanks also for telling me about the shower door and shower head. We have notified our maintenance man. He will also check about the water beside the outdoor shower. Not sure what you are referring to as there shouldn't be any water anywhere in the yard. Never thought of blackout curtains for the bedrooms - probably because, if I am in a dark room, I sleep several hours longer than normal. We have had several repeat guests tell us how much they love waking to the sunrise over the water. Of course it is too late to be of help to you but we find closing the curtains in the den early in the morning keeps out most of the heat from the morning sun. In spite of these issues, i hope you enjoyed your stay at BeaufortHouse. Thanks. p.s, could you explain more about the water outside. My maintenance man could not find any standing water. Thanks.

Beautiful waterfront views near downtown Beaufort

  • 5 of 5

The home was spacious, clean, and well located. The neighborhood is quiet and the views of the water are phenomenal. Our favorite views were of the moon over the water at night. The screened porch was very relaxing and our dogs and 2 year old son loved the area. Downtown Beaufort is only a short 5 minute drive away. The home has everything you need for a wonderful vacation. We would definitely stay at the home again and recommend it without reservation.
