About Jon

Front of rental from the lake

Jon purchased this house in 2004

Why Jon chose Moran

I love the area and so do my grandchildren, I built this first and lived in it while I built a house next door.

What makes this house unique

All outdoor activities, we are at the end of a private road so there is virtually no traffic, and my grandkids can play without worring about them. We adjoin the Hiawatha national forest. I love the quietness and solitude!

Other Activities: boating, Miniature Golf, Shopping, Kayaking, Parasailing, Snowmobiling

This is just the perfect lake house!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures here don't make justice for this amazing home!! Everything in the house is just amazing!. The view of the lake, the terrace, the fully equipped kitchen. Communication with the owner is always good.

Bring your own paper.

We really enjoyed our time here and hopefully will be coming back soon!

Fabulous family vacation at the Eagle's Nest on beautiful Brevort Lake

  • 5 of 5

This home has everything you need & a great home base for day tripping around the Eastern UP (Oswalds, Falls, Whitefish Pt, Mackinac Island, Castle Rock, Mystery Spot, etc). We fell in love with Brevort lake -rivals any of the popular Michigan lakes, minus all the crowds! This lake has many sand dunes - perfect to anchor your boat near and let the kids play. One has a huge rope swing from a tree- the ultimate playground for our 3 young children. We also enjoyed tubing and fishing. Plenty of space for groceries and supplies to cook @ home, restaurants in town were quite good too (whitefish!). Grill is downstairs near driveway. Jon was a very responsive host and answered all our email questions by calling me back quickly. He checked in with us a few times during the week to make sure everything was OK but otherwise gave us privacy. One day, we were heading out and realized our truck battery was dead. Jon came to our rescue and we were on the road in no time. There are tons of trails and smooth roads, we loved biking here. Had a bit of a cold snap during our stay, 40s at night, but Jon checked if we wanted the furnace on and started it right up. The walk to the fire pit was a little muddy, some mosquitoes (it had been rainy) so we didn't use it too much. There is a small dock by the fire pit but no posts/cleats to tie our boat to, so we used our sea eyes (we brought 2) and suspended our boat directly out from the main beach area within sight of the house. We had to get wet to get in the boat, and one person had to walk it out quite a ways to clear sea eyes and Jon's dock, especially if it was windy. We had a big storm/cold windy weather and beached our boat during that time. There are two kayaks and one canoe in great shape - the kids loved them. We brought sand toys/floats for the beach. Bringing paper products is normal for a rental and Jon kindly reminds you before your stay, also remember to bring garbage bags, any preferred hand soap, dish soap, and laundry detergent, and towels. There is a pack n play there, which we used and it was in good shape. The wooden crib looked older. There are 20+ hardwood steps straight up to get into the rental - so we were very cautious with our 2 yr old the entire week. There are many kids VHS tapes but no VCR. There is a DVD player and satellite TV. Some of us got swimmer’s itch – prevent that by bathing/drying off after swimming in shallow water. Wonderful family memories were made this week- Thank you, Jon!

Wonderful vacation!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at Eagles Nest! A week of kayaking, swimming, bike trail riding, relaxing and reconnecting as a family. We were able to see visit the Soo Locks, Taquamenon Falls, Mackinac Island and Whitefish point. Great cabin with everything we needed. Jon was a wonderful host! He was there if we needed him and let us have eagle's nest as it was our own. The only reason we couldn't say 5 stars was the mattresses were noisy and uncomfortable.
