This special home was built during the depression by our grandfather K.G. Anthony. Many of the materials used in the construction were hand-picked by K.G. and his attention to detail is evident throughout the house. The house was designed to be comfortable without A/C, currently 6 of the 7 bedrooms have window A/C units.
The house is in excellent shape. The kitchen is fully equipped with a built-in dishwasher, a pilotless gas stove, a microwave, and a large refrigerator. The living room has oak hardwood floors and pine walls and ceilings which provide the perfect atmosphere for relaxing in front of the fire at the end of the day. All common areas are spacious, making our house ideal for family reunions and multi-family vacations.
Three day rentals are allowed in the spring and fall and 7 day rentals are required during July and August. The rental week extends from 4 pm Saturday to 10 am the following Saturday. Clean sheets are provided at the beginning of the week.
Every year we make improvements and upgrades. In 2025 we purchased a new AC unit for the first hallway bedroom. We added french drains behind the house to keep the basement dry and to avoid smells that some renters noticed. We also added luxury vinyl to the the three bedrooms that had carpeting and to update the master bedroom floor which I installed for my father in the summer of 1980. We have a new master bed frame on order from a local mennonite craftsman.
We hope that you and your family will enjoy this property as much as our family has over the years.

We rented this house last year and this year for a girls wine weekend trip. It is big enough to accommodate our large group of 18 women. We love the fire pit overlooking the lake. We will rent it again next year.
The house and location were spectacular and the owner’s communication was kind, helpful, and clear throughout. We will definitely keep this place in mind to return in the future!
This house was beautiful, well equipped and very roomy. The owner was great to work with. We had a great time. We are planning on returning for a girls trip next year. Thank you.
The house had plenty of space, an amazing waterfront, and the owners were very responsive and helpful. Would absolutely recommend and love to stay again.
The house was perfect for a large group, the lake views are unmatched and proximity to brewery/wineries was everything we hoped for. Would definitely recommend.
Spectacular location looking out over Seneca Lake. The house has plenty of character and worked great for all! Its almost like a hotel. The only negative was on the last day construction vehicles right outside our window at 7 am! They're building a house down below! I am a home builder so I do understand, but still didn't appreciate the 7am wake-up on vacation.
Our entire family vacations together every year and we were truly lucky to have found this amazing place. It had plenty of space and the scenery was amazing!
6 Families stayed here for our annual memorial weekend trip. It was a great place for a large group. Beautiful location. The house was great had so much to offer. We enjoyed all of it! The beach and the dock was a great hit on a hot day and the fire pit was wonderful for cool evenings. The ping pong table was a nice surprise as well. We loved it so much we immediately booked it again for next Memorial Day weekend.
The view of Seneca Lake was beautiful, the house was very clean, well equipped with kitchen supplies and ample towels. The beds were comfortable. Corresponding with the owner was easy. A large load of firewood was delivered. Our only complaint was that our stay was too short .
We had a large group of 18. We loved the location, the view, the fire pit, the water and activities. It was such a cozy home while still being able to accommodate a large group. We were there during the heat wave so it was very hot in some areas of the house. Two bathrooms in bedrooms made it difficult to maneuver, but it can work if your group is smaller than ours. Overall, a great place!!!!
The house is big and had amazing views of the lake and lots of property to run and play. Our only issue we’re the bats that were in the house almost nightly. We called the owner and his suggestion was to close one of the doors to the family room but the bats were still there and we had to dispatch some of them. Otherwise it’s a great place to stay.
Wonderful location with a great view of the lake. The house was old but well kept and clean. There were 16 of us and it would have been nice to have another bathroom. It was easy to get to major attractions in the area. We all did a sail on the schooner True Love which I would recommend as it gave a different view of the area. Drive The Glen was another favorite of the family. Then there's the wineries of course.
All in all a wonderful family vacation. Highly recommended.
We chose Anthony's house for 3 reasons, they allow a dog, it is on the lake and they allowed us to have our sons wedding rehearsal party there. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect entertaining venue. Every day of our stay we had friends and family flowing through to visit since many are from various states. Having the huge dining room table, screened in porch with tons of seating and best of all the fire pit, nobody wanted to leave. Also very convenient to all areas around the lake. We only had 5 to 7 staying at the house depends mg on the night but could easily hold 15 to 20.
Only issues we had which I only post for info of the manager is more light is needed in living room and none of the remotes worked even after changing batteries. Anyone reading can see that if that's the negatives, Anthony's house is a great place. We will definitely stay again sometime in the future
We chose this rental to celebrate my parents' 64th wedding anniversary with a family gathering that included me, my two sisters, two brothers-in-law, four nephews, one niece, and two dogs. The gas grill allowed us to prepare BBQ Chicken, Ribeye steaks, and Lamb loin chops, while ample cooking pots made it easy to boil lobsters and corn on the cob. The dock, ideal for fishing and relaxing, also served as a convenient spot to moor our rented pontoon boat for a few nights, adding to our enjoyment.
The location couldn't have been better. We could walk or kayak to Miles Winery. We could also walk to the Showboat Hotel Bar and Restaurant. Sapalta Restaurant, just a short stroll away, impressed us with its excellence. The entire family had a fantastic time exploring the area's attractions. We played tennis at Watkins Glen High School, enjoyed nearby golf courses, and indulged in tastings at over five wineries. Our hikes along the Watkins Glen Gorge Trail and the Keuka Lake Outlet Trail offered breathtaking views, and even a round of mini-golf added to our fun-filled days.
For convenience, Penn Yan Tops supermarket was just a short drive away. Overall, our experience at this rental exceeded expectations. Five stars - thank you!
Temper your expectations and you’ll have a good time.
Ignore the name of the property and disavow yourself of the notion that this is a house. It’s a cabin. It is well situated for a large group. We had 7 adults, 2 near-adults, and 2 dogs. There was plenty of dish ware and silverware for all of us to eat together at the very large dining table. There’s not quite enough seating in the living room for everyone, but hopefully you’ll spend most of your time outdoors anyway. The lake-frontage can’t be beat. It feels very secluded. The yard was great for dogs or playing bocce. Plenty of seats around the fire ring for leisurely evenings. If your group is attentive, you’ll be treated to front row views of Osprey, Sea Gulls, and Bald Eagles fishing in the early mornings and evenings. Several deer frequented the backyard as well. The boat house has everything you’ll need to enjoy the shallow water near the dock. Our crew really liked the floating foam mat. We fished a lot and caught Bass, Sunfish, Gobis, and a couple of Catfish. One expects mice and insects in such a setting, but the nighttime visits from bats was a bit much. After we had one circling our heads in our bedroom at 4am, the owner suggested we keep the door to the bedroom hallway closed. That did keep them out of the bedroom, but we still had to chase them from the living room. I gave a middle of the road rating overall for three primary reasons: 1) the bats, 2) a nagging sewage smell, and 3) we arrived to find a lot of dirty dishes in the cabinets.
Charming older home on a magnificent lakefront property
Anthony’s Big House was the perfect setting for our extended family vacation. The property has large lawn areas in both the front and back which was the perfect setting for corn hole, kan jam (which we brought) and ping pong (nice table with paddles and balls on-site) tournaments. Watercraft including a canoe and two-person kayak are included along with life jackets. The fire pit overlooking the lake was a great place to gather in the evening and watch the clouds light up over the lake as the sun set behind us. The newly remodeled kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, a slow cooker, waffle iron, automatic drip coffee maker, toaster and plenty of dishes and silverware to accommodate a large crowd. There is also an extra fridge in the garage to store all the goodies you accumulate during your stay. The house does not have central air. The upstairs bedroom and master bedroom have window/wall units. Several days during our stay were in the 90’s and parts of the house got warm but there are so many screened doors, windows and fans to keep the air circulating and the house cooled down at night. The screened-in porch on the lake side of the house was a nice place to relax with a good book. There are seven bedrooms with lots of beds for individuals, couples and kids to spread out. If you love a charming house with character in a beautiful setting this is the place.

Great location; multiple issues with house
Good communication with owner but had a number of issues with house that didn't make it worth the price we paid.
We recently held a family reunion at Anthony’s Big House with 17 adults and 3 small children. The house was just perfect for us. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, appliances (including toaster oven, toaster and waffle maker kept in the pantry) and pots and pans, but could use a few more drinking glasses. The dining room has a large table with benches plus a couple additional drop-leaf tables for extra space. The main living room is very dark – there are no overhead lights- but since we were blessed with perfect weather, we spent most of our time outdoors and on the great screened-in porch. The “dormitory” room upstairs was roomy with 2 double beds and 2 twins with trundle pull-outs. The upstairs bathroom is very nice and modernized. Plus, the dormitory’s air conditioner worked great to cool the entire space. One of the downstairs bedrooms contains a bunk bed, not two twins, and is very small. The other bedrooms were spacious, especially the “primary” bedroom. One nice amenity not mentioned in the home’s description is that all the downstair bedrooms (except the bunk bed room) have doors to the outdoor patio at the front of the house, as well as doors into the interior hallway.
The firepit is gorgeous. We had to buy our own wood and some of the wooden Adirondack chairs are dangerously falling apart. The yard is spacious and we found a treasure trove of lawn games in the garage (where there is also a second fridge and freezer – very helpful for a large group). The dock is in beautiful condition, and the beach is shale stone which is very flat and rounded, so easy to walk on. Plus, there is an enormous grass front yard, perfect for frisbee, croquet, etc. The entire setting of this home is gorgeous.
Garbage from the previous renters had not been picked up, and animals had gotten into it and made a mess around the garbage shed. We contacted the owners and the garbage was cleaned up on the next work day (unfortunately for us, that was 3 days after our arrival).
Be aware that the nearest town for shopping and dining is Penn Yan, about 20 minutes away and gas stations are rare between Watkins Glen and Penn Yan.
Thank you, Anthony family, for sharing this terrific home. We had a wonderful time and are already talking about when we might visit again!
We enjoyed the property and stay, however, trash was left over from the previous group and animals got into the bins.
Trash was supposed to be picked up during our stay and never was, so we had many full garbage cans and trash spread out around the shed from animals.
The house and grounds also needed some basic maintenance. Light bulbs were burnt out, weeds were all around the property, doors didn’t close all the way, fire pit furniture was falling apart, etc…
The lakefront view was beautiful and the yards were spacious.
Two of the three bathrooms were attached to bedrooms, so really only one bathroom available to guest not staying in rooms with attached baths.
This was the best rental I have ever stayed at. There is so much to do and the property is so secluded you feel like you are in your own world. It was clean and honestly nicer than the pictures. The outdoor space cannot be beat.
Very spacious property, perfect to enjoy the lake and big yard with a gorgeous view! Not far from many wonderful wineries. Host was great to work with.
