We enjoyed our stay from the beginning to the end. Check in was smooth with great communication from the host. The interior of the houseboat looks better in person. It was spacious and clean with unforgettable views. The beds were comfortable and the sectional in the living area was very relaxing. What a great experience! Thanks for everything!
We arrived on Friday night and all of the restaurants were closed except for 1, Dock
House, (due to high water) from a storm. We went there and I overheard a patron talking about the houseboat they were staying in. I explained I overheard her conversation and we are also staying in the 2 bedroom houseboat. After eating a nice meal we met up with our neighbors and their friends and had a wonderful time!
We took this trip to celebrate my 48th bday and to get away from the busy life in Washington DC. It is not only a beautiful little boat house but the location is great. We sampled most of the restaurants in the area via walking. We enjoyed our time in the roof top looking at the sunset, water and boats. It was extremely relaxing and beautiful. We hope to have the opportunity to come back.
The houseboat is exactly as pictured online, it is clean modern and cozy. Kirby & Cassidy were excellent to work with to plan our trip. When we arrived we found snacks for us in the kitchen which was so thoughtful of our hosts. My husband loves boats so this was the perfect trip for us while our kids were at summer camp. It was so relaxing being on the water, we enjoyed looking out the window in the morning with coffee and sitting on the roof top deck in the evening watching the sunset. We will definitely plan to book this exact trip again. All the restaurants are within walking distance too, so all around this was a great experience! A few restaurants were very close for driving, Dessert Only was a great breakfast and coffee spot on the water!
We had a bit of trouble figuring out the TV, and Kirby was most helpful and responsive, even at 8:30pm!
The proximity of several walkable seafood restaurants was handy, and tasteful. The traffic on both road and water was actually entertaining, to the point of getting unduly mesmerized by the drawbridge routine. For a nice touch, a great blue heron flew right under our kitchen window.
Very much enjoyed the houseboat. Perfect location - within walking distance of all local attractions / restaurants. Sunset view on the deck is amazing! Hope to come back soon!
The Cass Away was exactly as described. Clean, well-appointed (with some fun extras!), and within walking distance to several restaurants and bars. The cute getaway had everything we could need for our two-night stay, and the roof deck was our favorite part! Sitting up there in the evening with a book and a blanket, watching the birds fly by and the boats sail through...paradise!
Kirby & Cassidy's houseboat is a unique getaway. There is a Tiki Bar next door & multiple wonderful restaurants. The views from the windows in the living room were spectacular and there was a resident loon that came to visit me every morning.
There is no washer or dryer so pack enough clothes that you don't need to find a laundromat. I was distressed by the loud road noises from the Kent Narrows Bridge as trucks & cars crossed. It was a definite distraction from the beauty of the surroundings.
If you are 5 ft 5 in or shorter, be aware that the beds are really high & I went to True Value hardware to get a step stool to be able to get into bed at night. The owners had provided small wooden boxes in each room, however, sadly they weren't tall enough for me.
There are no dressers or under the bed storage drawers, so I ended up living out of my suitcase. The water in the bathrooms smell of sulfur, but the water in the kitchen smells like normal tap water. The lack of a dishwasher didn't bother me as I was alone & didn't generate that many dishes.
The most surprising aspect of the stay was how much sway/swing there is to the boathouse. The first two days I was there high wind warnings were up & I was perpetually nauseous. The winds came back at the end of the week & I ended up checking out a half day early because of the nausea.
Kirby was extremely responsive to my request for umbrellas. He was there within 30 minutes with umbrellas for the deck so I wouldn't burn.
We enjoyed our stay at Cass-Away. The view was wonderful inside and on the upper deck of the houseboat. The inside was beautiful and nicely updated. The Communication was wonderful! We will be back for the warmer months. The Hudgins
We had a wonderful time! It was the small touches that made the difference! From the cupcakes to the Old Bay potato chips. Kirby and Cassidy made us feel welcome from the time we made our reservation. We cannot wait for our next visit! We'll definitely be back!!
Fantastic! Perfect for 2-4 adults. My Son traveled with us who is 6’5”
and he still fit the length of the bed( tall people friendly). We were in the area for the 1st time. Price was great compared to 2 local hotel rooms, and I feel I got so much more than a hotel can offer. It’s stocked well enough, but you will need.to bring all toiletries. It’s very clean, and comfortable. Location was great to where we needed to be and easy access to the bridge, restaurants, grocer, fuel , ect. We were moved to the Hyatt on the last night of our stay due to a severe storm, ( worst flooding since the 1930’s) but hey if your getting relocated, at least it’s the Hyatt. The owners were easy to converse with, responsive and most gracious. We were refunded our last night ( not that they had to in my opinion, we were flying out in a few hours), and set us up nicely in their hotel. We absolutely would love to stay at the house boat again provided it’s available. That may be the only down side, letting anyone know how perfect it is. We try to stay in unique lodging around the globe, this lil house boat did not disappoint. 10/10 recommend.
We really wanted an extra blanket. We had to rob the beds for extra blankets to snuggle in front of the TV to watch a movie. We were also upset that we had to use toilet paper as kleenex because you do not provide any tissues. We came back from a brisk walk in the cold with runny noses and no tissues to be found. We love the place but tissues and an extra blanket should be provided for the price that you charge.
Cass-Away is a delightful little houseboat that will provide you with extraordinary views of the Kent Island Narrows. It is clean, very comfortable, and well-kept. We really enjoyed watching the sunset from the top deck. We also enjoyed waving at the boat captains and crews as they glided past. Bring your bicycles because you have easy access to the Cross Island Bike Trail. If you want to get out on a boat, there is a fishing charter business within walking distance. Also within easy walking distance are several excellent seafood restaurants. If you arrive hungry, the nearby Big Owl Grill food truck can provide you up with a takeout bag of food in minutes. Within a very short driving distance, you can access grocery stores, pharmacy stores, banks, etc., so it is quite convenient. If you like seeing boats, birds, and water, we recommend a long weekend in Cass-Away!
An immersive waterfront stay with spectacular views. Easy access to Cross Island Trail and great dining options within walking distance. Accommodations and hosts were 5-Star.
My mom and I had the best time. The boathouse exceeded our expectation and was so clean and modern and comfortable and full of little extras. We had so much fun exploring the area by foot and a friends boat and wish we had booked an extra night. Next time! Thank you for the memories!!
Even though we had seen pictures and videos of the Cass-Away beforehand, our first glimpse just took our breath away ... and the amazement continued each day of our stay. Every detail of the property listing was just as described - very clean, spacious, fully stocked, comprehensive directions to enhance the use of the houseboat and to explore the area, plus extra little comforts as welcoming gifts. From the booking to checkout, Kirby and Cassidy maintained prompt and clear communications with the friendliness of your favorite neighbor. They go above and beyond to add to every spectacular moment of your gracious living stay. Thank you for sharing your vision of the perfect Chesapeake Bay Getaway on the Cass-Away!!!!
We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home on the water! Everything was absolutely perfect. The houseboat exceeded our expectations and the hosts provided necessary information in a timely and professional way. We loved their recommendations and kind and thoughtful extra touches. We would highly recommend this property for anyone looking to relax someplace with excellent accommodations, beautiful views, and the convenience of walking to fun and delicious restaurants.
