About the property

Amazing bunkhouse with 8 bunks. Short walk to the beach and town. Exceptional!

Summer Camp includes a beautiful craftsman beach house with a bunkhouse. The main house includes a comfortable great room for hanging-out, a cozy dining nook, fully equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The bunkhouse has 8 bunks.

We like to put the kids and their friends in the bunkhouse and use the main house for the adults. This works out great for both the adults and the kids.

The bunkhouse has a dramatic vaulted ceiling, oversized french doors and craftsman wood paneling throughout. The cottage and bunkhouse are connected by a spacious deck. Summer Camp is two blocks from the beach and five blocks from town. Curl up and enjoy the quiet by the wood stove after a brisk walk on the beautiful beach or hang out on the rear-deck with family and friends and enjoy a barbecue on the gas grill.

FROM THE GUEST BOOK:

LOVE Manzanita and this amazing house! Could not have been better … from the super fun bunk house, to the deck, outdoor shower (my favorite) and sunny weather -- the perfect mini vacation with friends. A great time was had by all! Looking forward to another visit…

Scotia, Riley & Reed (Hood River, OR)

Beautiful weather, a stunning home, a short walk to the beach, the cozy wood stove, the bunkhouse, dinner on the deck, bonfires, walks on the beck, good friends, great food, a trip to Oswald West State Park. Thank you very much for the chance to stay in your home.

Paul & Shelley (Hood River, OR.)

…have spent several weeks relaxing & having a wonderful time here at Summer Camp in Manzanita. This is our second visit to Manzanita and we just love it. It is still as quaint as ever and has one of the best beaches along this coast, we think. We will miss Summer Camp and the cool decks & bunkhouse where the kids have hung-out a lot! It has been so relaxing here and we've spent a lot of time reading books and playing all the board games -- including a new one my son now wants to buy 'Settlers of Catan'. Lots of walks on the beach, boogie boarding and hanging-out. We've done several hikes and recommend Neahakanne Mountain on a clear day, Falcon Cover and Ecola Stake Park.

Lucy, Rob, Rebecca & James (Boise, ID)

We just wanted to say thank you for extending to us your beautiful summer camp at Manzanita...we all fell in love with it! You have such excellent attention to detail and with two architects and a former architect/designer in our group, we were completely enamored!

The set-up is perfect and the beds were the best I've ever slept in. My 8 year old son said to me as I was tucking him in tonight in his own bed, 'I had three nights of sleeping in the most comfortable bed!' (both of our kids slept in the middle bunks while our friends' kids slept way up high on the top bunks.) I guess it's time we get him a new bed...

You probably heard me say 'wow' when I walked in the front door here… Cape Falcon is a splendid hike. Bonfires on the beach with s'mores!!! Thank you for sharing this comfortable home with us.

About Peg Bogard

We grew up on the East Coast enjoying the beaches of New England and New Jersey. We wanted to share our love of the beach and ocean with our children and friends. A vacation home on the coast is the perfect college investment tool that allows us to enjoy our savings tool and share it with others. We hope you also enjoy your time at summer camp surrounded by friends and family discovering what a special place the Oregon coast is, especially Manzanita.

Peg Bogard purchased this house in 2009

Why Peg Bogard chose Manzanita

Manzanita is a special small town by the sea. This family and dog friendly town makes it easy to relax, slow down and enjoy the coast. We wanted to focus our time at the coast on the natural beauty and time spent playing with friends and family. We spend our time on the beach, on our bikes, on the deck and playing cards or board games. There are a few cute shops and delicious meals to be had in Manzanita, just on a small scale that lets you appreciate the care with which the proprietors have chosen their wares and foodstuffs. Manzanita is truly a pearl in the midst of the rugged Oregon coast.

What makes this house unique

A great beach, small/quite town, great windsurfing, great hiking, cozy interior, wood stove, large deck for outdoor dining/hanging-out. A special place to spend time with family & friends. A high-quality craftsman home.

Beautifully kept with lots of sample for all. We had 5 people. Used the two bedrooms and the bunk house. Close to the beach. We are returning next year.

Beautiful Home Lots of Room/Close to Beach

  • 4 of 5

I rented this home for a family gathering on the coast. There were 10 of us. The bunkhouse was awesome. There were family games in the closet and plenty of dishes and pans to cook with. Lots of linens and cozy beds. This home is very nice. The neighbors right next door (Thank you Nancy) were very helpful in suggesting some fun things to do..

..unfortunately, some of the other neighbors were not nearly as friendly and do not like the fact that this is a rental home.

One, in particular, came down the street to yell at us not once but twice. The first for not being parked completely off the road while we were unloading upon arrival. I was less than a foot over the driveway. Another because our dog (who was inside in the kennel) supposedly barked while we were downtown eating. The final comment from a different neighbor was "I'm sick of the rotating nonsense on this street".

When we arrived we were wishing we would have booked a whole week because it's so pretty and cozy. Only wishing it had a hot tub lol. This property is also very close to the beach. But after the incidents with the neighbors, we were glad to be leaving after only three days.

For three days I paid the same as I did for seven days in Hawaii. Sadly the lack of warmth or hospitality by the majority of the neighbors will not have me returning anytime soon.

Owner's Response: Happy to hear that everyone was happy at Summer Camp and with its amenities. We have been renting in Manzanita since 2007, this is the first time I've heard of the neighbors approaching guests. The majority of our neighbors are lovely people. Manzanita is a special place that makes everyone happy. Come see it soon!

Beautiful property, well equipped

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this house over a week in July. The kitchen and pantry were well stocked, and there were plenty of extra blankets and flannel sheets for the chillier nights. We hosted dinner a few nights with family, and were glad for the large outdoor table. The basement storage unit had chairs and balls for our kids. The decor is modern and uncluttered. We look forward to coming back - thanks to the hosts!

PERFECT Beach house!!

  • 5 of 5

I don't know if it's possible to write a review that's worthy of this awesome beach house! I've stayed in dozens - maybe hundreds! - of beach houses and this is undoubtedly #1. It's clean, well designed, comfortable, convenient....there's not a single thing I would change. The house was spotlessly clean, the kitchen was well stocked and the beds were super comfy. The kids especially loved the amenities in the bunk house, including the shelf, light, and outlet next to each bed. I especially liked the variety of hooks thoughtfully placed throughout the house -- there are rarely enough hooks for wet bathing suits, wet towels, wet clothes, etc. at beach houses but this house solved that problem! Thanks for providing such lovely accommodations!

We loved staying here! It was an incredible property. Spacious, clean, and a cool bunk bed house!

  • 5 of 5

This property was awesome. It was right by the beach and the main town. We went here for my daughter’s birthday and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The main house had large bedrooms, spacious kitchen and living room. The backyard bunk house was super cool! There was an outlet by the drive way so we could charge our car too. Great time and we’d love to come back!

Bring friends...

  • 5 of 5

Great home with tons of room. Bunkhouse is the perfect place for lots of kids to get away from the adults. Huge table for dining, games (tons of board games available!), whatever. Walk to everything in town or to the beach. The Sand Dune Pub has terrific food and a dog-friendly outdoor dining area. Or, cook your own meals in a well-stocked kitchen! Bonfire on the beach, stargazing, chill out. Summer Camp Rocks!
