Everything was clean and obviously well taken care of. Location is perfect for doing lots of things from wineries to exploring the national forest. Host is communicative and friendly.
We absolutely loved our stay here when my son got married at Historic Bell Hill in Cobden. It was so cute, clean, and only about 10 minutes to the venue. We loved that it was across the street from Havisham, which is one of our favorite places to visit. The hot tub was the perfect way to wind down after a long day of decorating and a wedding the following day! I loved that you can rent both units as one, or rent each individually. It definitely made it easier for my whole family to be able to stay! Steve's communication prior to checking in, was top notch. Even if you live in Southern Illinois, it's the perfect place to get away for a night or two. I will highly recommend this place to everyone!
The owner was so helpful with providing suggestions on places to go in order for my sister’s bachelorette party. Everything he recommended was perfect and exactly what we were looking for. The hot tub was a great feature and using both the front and back allowed people to go to bed earlier without being annoyed by the people still up. Nice quiet area and everyone was very friendly.
I traveled with 7 other women and we stayed at this wonderful location. The house is split into two separate living quarters (there is no adjoining door). Both units were incredibly cute and comfortable. This is the perfect location for the wine trail. It sits across from a bourbon bar and a couple of the girls walked across both nights we stayed. The Quetil Trailhead is a wonderful walking trail that is situated close to this location. We enjoyed the trail both mornings for our early activity. Both units have a full kitchen that we didn't use because we were out and about enjoying the local restaurants. There is a wonderful hot tub and patio furniture with a propane fire pit. The evenings were very relaxing after a long day of walking about the trails. The host was very responsive and very helpful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you are coming to this area.
I would definitely stay here again! Perfect location and perfect place for couples or girls getaway!
Im not sure how 16 people could stay here as there are only 4 beds as stated.
We had 7 which was the perfect amount for this space. We enjoyed the hot tub! It was super relaxing.
There were a couple things I would suggest.
A couple potholders for the units would be nice, more than one ice tray, a new couch for the front unit- we had brown pieces of the leather all over us so we ended up putting a blanket over it and a path (concrete pavers) where the grass is to the other unit. There was dog poop in the grass and we couldn’t see it, a path would be easier to see where we are going.
Other than those very minor things we had an excellent time!! Thank you so much!!!
Cellular service is non existent in the area so don't wait until arrival to attempt to view the check-in details and access information. Everything else was great!!
We stayed at the Wine Lofts with friends for a weekend for the fifth year in a row. It is such a great find! The owner is super-communicative and responsive via the VRBO app. Will definitely be back again next year!
My brother and I grew up in Southern Illinois, and could not wait to 'Get Out,' 'Escape,' and go to the big city. I went to school in Chicago at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and left Southern Illinois far behind. I thought this was great.
Both my brother and I had very successful careers. His in the IT world of Virtualization, and I in the online advertising, marketing, and market research world catering to big pharma. In a normal year, both of us would fly 125,000+ miles and see many places, countries and sites. Working with clients al over the country and beyond.
As we grew older and our 'success' continued we felt more and more that something was missing. We began to yearn for the hills of Southern Illinois, the slower pace of life, and the people we left behind more and more.
I 2013, I came home for a few weeks to help my mother move my father into a nursing home. After this was completed I flew to Milan for business, and on my way back I received a call that my mother had had a stroke. This was a life changing event for boh my brother and I, and I never really went back to Asheville, NC.
Our father spent the year getting worse, and our Mother spent the year getting better. When my father died in December of 2013, I decided to 'officially' move to Southern Illinois, and my brother to nearby Southeast Missouri in order to spend more time with our mother and be closer with family. I also made the decision to leave the company I worked for and do something simpler, and local to Southern Illinois.
June 1st, 2014 I started my company with the goal to create vacation rental homes in Southern Illinois and help the area grow tourism. Southern Illinois is a beautiful and special place, and I would like to share it with as many people as possible.
In the Summer of 2021, my brother decided to purchase a vacation rental and join me on my adventure. I now manage the day to day operations and we both work on our houses together.
