No other house on Chincoteague can legally accommodate nearly as many people.
Fantastic for Large Family Reunions: When rented in conjunction with 2 neighboring houses, 35 people can be accommodated on site. Ask for details!
Eureka! is the PREMIER vacation home on Chincoteague. Period. 'Spectacular' and 'Fantastic' are the words that come to mind when you consider the design of the house and its location. Our aim is that each guest also uses those words to describe their entire vacation experience.
The siting of this house is unique: You are above the 'Deep Hole' at the end of Deep Hole Creek, overlooking Oyster Bay, Little Oyster Bay, Assateague Bay with vast unobstructed natural water views.
Large groups hosted (in conjunction with adjacent rental houses) include corporate retreats, a yoga weekend, a hunting retreat, and a quilter's bee.
Over 100 feet of frontage on Deep Hole Creek -- the pictures do not do it justice! (Well, the video comes closer!)
The 2nd floor deck offers the most sweeping & spectacular views from any house in Chincoteague...
At ground level, there are expansive wood decks, and a long bulkhead for crabbing and tying up boats and plenty of sun or shade (with seating and dining areas) depending on your preference. Hammocks. Plus several shaded picnic table and seating areas.
And a floating dock that makes water access even easier! The floating dock is shared with Epiphany (a neighboring house), as are the water toys, which include a Canoe and two 2-person Old Town Kayaks.
Main House: On the first level, with 9' ceilings, there are FOUR bedrooms, each with its own bath, and each with its own private balcony. All have water views. Two have water views in two directions. ONE Bedroom, designed for kids, has 4 bunk beds (3 twin, 1 full) but could handle single adults if needed. THREE BEDROOMS have KING beds. Each of the king bedrooms has custom tiled showers. One is handicapped accessible, another has a marble vanity, the third has a custom glass vanity.
There is an open breezeway deck with stairs down to the dock area as well as indoor stairs.
On the second floor, you enter directly into a large Great Room and Kitchen with cathedral ceilings, bay windows, picture windows, two large decks (one with the wide-angle view and full sun; the other covered with an outdoor grill); both have dining areas.
The kitchen is simply fabulous: Look at the photos, and read the details below.
There is also a cozy media room with a 42' flat screen TV and a full size sleep sofa. The 2nd floor bath is next door, so using this room for sleeping is attractive. Enjoy our large library of books. Many guests have commented on how much they appreciate our large collection of board games.
Broadband Internet/Wi-Fi. There are several wireless access points, so the signal is strong throughout the house.
Two decks open off the 2nd floor great room. One is the open deck with the wide angle views, the other is the covered breezeway deck, still with great views, but also with the gas grill. Both decks have dining tables.
Guest House, First Floor Suite (First floor of small house): Across the breezeway (cedar-shingled exterior, radial, almost two story window wall, on the left in the aerial photo). All on the main floor, the living area has sweeping water views through the stunning curved window wall. The master bedroom (king bed), boasts a LUXURIOUS bathroom with a TILED two-person shower with body jets. THERE IS a WONDERFULLY private corner WATERFRONT balcony looking south. (There are no cooking facilities in the Suite.)
More details at the DeepHoleCreek website. browse down to that link.
The master suite in the guest house is an ideal choice for the special couple... whether you are planning a Chincoteague Wedding, a Golden Anniversary, or anything in between. Email for more details..
The 2nd floor of the Guest House has two additional rooms: One is right over the creek with the best view of all, with a sleep sofa. This is the best room on a mid-winter sunny afternoon. The other has two twin beds. Both rooms share a bath. Use of these rooms increases the capacity of the house to 18.
Extensive ground level wooden decks all along the bulkhead, hammocks, lots of deck furniture provide many spaces for relaxation.
The ladder down the side of the bulkhead to the floating dock makes boating and swimming easier.
NOTES: if you bring small children the waterside dock areas will require you to exercise constant vigilance over them. The upper decks offer more enclosed outdoor areas. Some people with small children choose not to use this house for that reason. We understand, and hope you will return when the kids are a bit older.
All rentals include Linens (Sheets, bath towels). Please bring your own beach towels, and please do NOT take the linen service company's towels to the beach.

Two Miles from the bridge to Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge on Assateague. Pony Penning 2017. Family Reunions, Elevator
Our family has owned this place since I was a kid. For years, it was a dilapidated, but incredibly charming ancient clam house, right on the water, and during storms, under water. I remember playing in the water as a kid, as our kids (one pictured in canoe) will too.
Blair purchased this house in 1970
As time went by, maintenance on the old clam house became problematic. We decided to replace it with a modern structure, higher and drier. We were delighted when the new house offered a charm of its own, different but comparable to the charm of the old house.
We were closely involved with the design and construction of the house; working with local designer Richard Vesely and well known builder David Burgess.
We continue to be meticulous in upkeep and repairs, keeping David's crew employed regularly, with a philosophy of CANI (Continuous and Never ending Improvement). All houses require upkeep. Houses on Chincoteague exposed to the elements require more. We do that.
Crabbing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, boating from the dock. Watching the sunrise over Assateague, and then going back to sleep.
Going to the beach at Assateague and the Chincoteague National wildlife preserve. Explore Chincoteague and Assateague with bikes. Go to the Island Creamery. Get great seafood from Gary Howard--right down the street. Cook it in our fully equipped kitchen while enjoying the ever-changing view. Get take out sandwiches from Sea Star Cafe. Get BBQ from Woody's on Maddox. Go see Randy and Nancy's artwork at Clouds Gallery. Get a latte from the Main Street Coffee Shop.
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful house. The dock was great for crabbing.
We did: bike riding, Chincoteague pony center, went to Island Creamery & Mr. Whippy's, beach=collect shells, golf course. We rode bumper boats, go-karts, and arcade golf.
visitors center on Assateague, saw lots of wild ponies, went to book stores, gift shops, Assateague explorer (Misty) We will definitly (sic) come back!
I had aan awesome, fantastic with my cousins, my aunt, uncle and grandparents.
I <heart sign> Chincoteague!
This is the perfect place for a family reunion and a good old family party. Everyone loved coming here and had an amazing time. When we came the dishwasher didn't work but everything else was just perfect. If the dishwasher worked, which it does now, my dad rented this same house the next year said that it has been fixed.
If you can afford this house do it, its soooooo worth it.
When turning 60, I gathered my entire family at Eureka and Epiphany. In my life I have never planned anything that left my family not finding some reason to criticize me - until now. This is a place of unbelievable beauty, and the complex has places to gather or not. 1 person can find lots of places to enjoy the beauty in solitude. 2,3,4, have lots of places to gather. Or everyone can gather on the top floor - and enjoy the beautiful views. Or go off in the canoe and kyacks. It was such a great time, that I did it again to celebrate my girlfriend's 60th six months later. One minor problem was 'leaving my blender (didn't need to bring it as there was one there), and when I asked, it was quickly returned to me. A great place, and I look forward to returning again many times.
I lead a team of 10 adults, and each year, we hold a retreat/planning session. We've stayed in hotels, campgrounds and condos, but finding Eureka and Epiphany made for our best-ever meeting. Unlike many vacation homes, the photos online were not made to look better than the real thing - In fact, the photos did not do justice to the property. The homes were both spotless, very well-equipped with all the comforts of home (actually, much better than my own home!), and the entire team is still raving about it. Before we left our session, I had several ask if we could return for next year's meeting.
I highly recommend the property!
We were searching for a place to celebrate my 80th birthday with our 18 kids and grandkids, and EUREKA!, here it was! The reviews were great and the description of the property seemed perfect for our needs...something to keep everyone happy, from the kayaks and canoe to puzzles and games.
The listing was completely accurate in every detail. We were glad to be able to make a quick trip a few months in advance to try to figure out the sleeping arrangements and have some idea as to what we might need to bring. Stephanie, who manages the property, was most generous with her time and very patient in answering our questions.
As each family group arrived, the oohs and aahs were proof of the rightness of our choice. The house is truly beautiful, with a gorgeous water view, as advertised, from every room. The living space is so vast and with so many decks and balconies that we often wandered lost just hunting for the stairs, but that vastness made it possible for the family hermits to be alone when they wanted to be and for the groupies to group! It was possible, too, on the night of the big birthday dinner, to arrange the tables and chairs on one deck so we could feast and celebrate together. (If anyone wants to know, my best birthday present was a Jayson Werth Garden Gnome!!!)
One of my concerns that was quickly laid to rest concerned what we might find in the kitchen. No worries...everything we needed for cooking was there. Both the owner and Stephanie were always available to quickly answer any questions we had.
We managed to enjoy seafood every night...and often for lunch also. We ate at Zack's right down the road, the Crab Shack...best of all, Bill's Seafood Restaurant (!!!), bought fish and shrimp at Gary Howard's, a few short blocks away. Among the other activities our family enjoyed: renting "bikes for 4", miniature golf, Wallops Visitor Center, The Creamery, a scenic nature cruise ("Daisey's") whose wonderful captain graciously took us right in front of Eureka!, an historical tour of Chincoteague on the little shuttle bus, and exploring the house's large and varied library (definitely not the typical beach reads).
I must not forget to mention the beach at Assateague. It does tend to be crowded, but we found the best time to go and have only a few fishermen as our companions was early morning around 7am. There are picnic tables and grills available and it's easy to stake out a space. Even better, come at 6am and watch the sun rise over the ocean.
We had a wonderful 50th anniversary week at Eureka! We had 18 people staying in the house but there was enough room and enough activities that we never felt we were living on top of one another. All ages enjoyed the kayaks and canoe to explore around Deep Hole Creek, and spent many happy hours at the beach. The tide was too strong for people to do much swimming off the dock. The kitchen worked very well for various teams to prepare meals for that many people, and Gary Howard's Seafood right down the road was well patronized. We had a great scavenger hunt prepared by the Chincoteague Museum at our request. Ask them about it. Any problems or questions we had were answered promptly by the owner ahead of time and by the property manager while we were there. Finally, you can't beat the view from Eureka! It was spectacular - sunrise, daytime, sunset, and nighttime storms.
We had planned a weekend hunting trip in December and stayed at the Eureka. This house was amazing. Beautiful views all around this home. Blair and Stephanie were great to deal with and I would recommend this home to anyone planning to stay in Chincoteague. We will be planning a return visit!
Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and the beach at the Assateague National Seashore are why people come here... We are about two miles from the bridge to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, and it is another 3 miles on park roads to the beach. Bring your bikes, and bike to the CNWR, enjoy the 2.5 mile wildlife loop that bans cars before 3PM. Or just stay at the house.
Swim or launch your boat from the dock. Go to the beach, catch crabs from the dock, or just snooze in the hammocks. Eat Ice Cream at the Island Creamery, Buy a Pony during the annual pony round up, Go to the fair during July, Enjoy peace and quiet and beauty during the off season, If the weather is bad, Buy fresh seafood from Gary Howard's Seafood at the 'elbow' in Deep Hole Road, and cook up a storm!
