The Neuse River VS Ocean, the perfect retreat !
I seek the calm and quiet of being in a picturesque and peaceful environment. Journey's End Cottage is the perfect setting for retreating and renewing. It is simply magical!
Quaint & Charming River Side Cottage
Entering the cottage was like stepping back in time to when things were slower and life was simple! This place is perfect to just get away and enjoy time with family and friends fishing, talking porchside with a glass of lemonade, playing board games or curling up with a good book. This place is a no frills comfort home shared with travelers by a nice and responsive owner that will do everything possible to make your vacation pleasurable from booking to checkout.
Wind back the clock!
Journey's End is the kind of peaceful retreat where time falls away as the nervous system lets go. My husband has a difficult time shifting from work mode into "play" or "relax" mode and this sweet river cottage did the trick over the course of the four days we were there. He spent much of his time lounging in the hammock reading/napping or sitting with me down at the dock. It was wonderful to see him so relaxed. I soaked up being immersed in nature - the two herons flying low past the dock as they came in for a landing, the swifts racing by at top speed, the bright green lizards darting about. We loved the outdoor shower where you can gaze at the deep blue sky while washing your hair. We brought food in to make our own meals as it is such a joy to sit in the screened in dining room area and have the long view out over the water. Even a simple meal is a feast with views like that! On week-ends, the golf course club house two blocks away has breakfast available, which was simple and tasty. Terry has created a very inviting, aesthetically pleasing cottage! She was responsive in all communications and so very helpful in making our get-a-way a delight in every way.
Sit on the pier, drink your cup of coffee and watch the sun coming up while swifts dart under and over the pier, or sip your glass of wine feeling the breezes waft over your face, listening to the waves lapping as you watch the sun set. Journey's End was the best choice for us and our grandchildren to sit back and enjoy the very best of nature with majestic birds flying overhead. The cottage? Step back into the history of this former fishing shack that belonged to Terry's family (And yes, there's still good fishing and crabbing even off the pier at Journey's End!) and that has been updated to be so very comfortable. Terry was communicative and is an excellent host anticipating one's every request. My wife and I have been to Journey's End several times and look forward to our next visit (with or without the grands!).
What a great way to describe Journey's End Cottage and the sights on the river. It's so nice when guests get it and you do!
Please plan to return soon.
Journeys end was perfect!
Such a quaint and lovely cottage! Terry was so helpful and such a delight! She has little touches that make a huge impact! Definitely a home we would rent again. Great family vacation spot!
Lovely house on the river
Everything was great. The house was perfect (rustic but not shabby) and the view amazing. Terry was very responsive to questions.
Staying there was a treat!
I was happy that you stopped off on your visit to North Carolina for some time on the Neuse River. Thanks for choosing Journey's End Cottage and for appreciating it's character.
