The Drooly Bear is a secluded log cabin getaway in the woods. Just a few miles from Trough Creek State Park Headquarters, this rustic, romantic vacation destination will allow you to escape the rat race and enjoy each other, your family, and nature.
As you decompress on the deck, you'll enjoy the peace and quiet of the woods. If it's raining, enjoy the sound of the rain as it falls while you sit in the swing under the covered portion of the deck. If it's chilly, go inside and get cozy near the wood burning stove or play a game or two in The Loft.
Get your exercise by hiking the numerous trails in Trough Creek State Park or playing at Raystown Lake. Enjoy fine dining at Mimi's in Huntingdon (about 35 minutes away) or grab a sandwich at a local sandwich stop or country store.
Whether it's a family vacation, a reunion of friends, or a romantic weekend, you'll enjoy the peace and quiet away from every day life and be able to rest, relax, and recharge. Come and enjoy the Drooly Bear.

Spent the weekend here with some friends, a few coming from Pittsburgh and a few coming from Philly, so this was a perfect location. The cabin is a short walk from a park up the road where you can go hiking, and is heated by a wood burning stove that just seems right when you're out in the middle of nowhere. Plenty of space for everyone who came, clean and equipped, and very nice layout. And Matt the owner was of course the most helpful with any questions or concerns I had! Would definitely stay here again!
Kitchen was completely stocked! Cabin was very warm & cozy. Would recommend traveling roads during the daylight, until familiar with the area. Would definitely return for a return visit! Matt King was prompt with responses and questions.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Drooly Bear! Very nice, big and open beautiful cabin! Hope to go back again next year. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone!
We had never been to Raystown Lake before and didn't really know what to expect. First of all the ride was beautiful and if you don't want to sit in traffic, this is the place to go! When we arrived, we loved Drooly Bear Cabin immediately. As soon as we entranced Drooly Bear Cabin we noticed a cat treat sitting on the counter, what a nice touch. Thanks for providing such a great house with everything you need right there! A peaceful, quiet and relaxing vacation. Just the way it's supposed to be. And, thanks Matt for being so helpful and thoughtful! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
The very first thing I'd like to point out about the Drooly Bear, is the owner Matt. He couldn't have been any more friendlier and accommodating. Always responsive to any questions I had. I could tell right off the bat that he would be great to work with, and he was! Now for details. I agree with the other reviewer that the pictures don't do it justice. I studied those pictures, basically trying to determine the size. If it would be large or would feel cramped etc. It is much, much larger than it appears, and as you open the front door to walk in, it feels welcoming, and you feel relieved that you made a good choice. Our 2 granddaughters age 8 and 9 were the first ones through the door, and they had a lot of excitement in their voice as they exclaimed "wow this is cool!" The kitchen is very well equipped, with many dishes, utensils, bottle openers, peelers etc, glasses, pots, pans and bowls. I was even surprised to discover 2 crockpots, which I think is a very nice added bonus. Matt didn't think there were wine glasses, so I brought up about 10 and left them there. The loft is HUGE, and very cool place for the kids to hang out. The only "negative" up there is the open bathroom. There is a HUGE Jacuzzi tub, vanity and toilet. Which IS hidden behind the bookcase. To test out the "privacy" of it, one in our group went up to the bathroom, and I looked from in the livingroom and could not see them at all. But if others were in the loft at the same time, the "privacy" factor would be an issue. I spoke to Matt about it, as this was the only thing some in my group complained about, and he is going to look into putting a curtain or something in front. But overall the loft and bathroom area is a great space. If you would have the need to set up any additional air mattresses, there is plenty of room to do so. The deck and porch are very nice. We enjoyed sitting out at the firepit a lot. Overall the house was very clean. Yes, the carpets were a bit stained, but that's to be expected when you have people coming in and out from a campfire in a wooded setting, plus pets. You're camping, not staying at the Marriott! But Matt did tell me he was up there after our stay, and hadn't realized the carpets were bad, and had them cleaned. I had cell service at the cabin. I have Crickett. GPS worked on the way to the cabin, but not FROM the cabin. Definitely try to arrive before dark. I would definitely stay here again.
This was the perfect place for us. We went there to do some business planning and fishing. Very close to raystown resort were we rented a boat for the day.
Overall I'd recommend this cabin. Only regret is that we didn't have more time. I'll be taking the family there in the fall!
