Large, rustic, & luxurious are words seldom used together, but that's Spirit Dancer Lodge, a luxurious, energizing, rejuvenating, and ROMANTIC get-away far removed from the stresses of city life. We're on 60 private acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Shenandoah Valley. Upon your arrival, you will receive four free wine tastings at a nearby winery. We offer 4000 square feet of living space with queen beds in two of the four, spacious bedrooms with a soaking tub and shower in the master bedroom and two twins in the other bedroom on the main floor. A large, closed-in loft area has four twin beds. All rooms have large windows to let the outside in.
The great room has a huge stone fireplace, dining room and kitchen, all open together and has floor to ceiling windows with prowl front and Brazilian cherry hardwood floors. There's carpet in the other rooms. Our hot tub, at the end of our extensive deck, is perfect for star gazing or wildlife watching. Downstairs, you'll find our sauna room (5 person) with queen-size futon, 18 foot stone bar, game room, exercise room and 62 inch TV.
There is a den with a trundle, daybed and a futon.. The interior house is specially designed in southwest decor (Home Beautiful).
We're located in Etlan, VA, just off Virginia's Route 231, one of America's ten most outstanding scenic byways (Great for biking!). We back up to Shenandoah National Park & Old Rag Mountain, which offer numerous scenic hiking trials, & we have our own private hiking trails on the property. We have a stocked pond for 'catch & release' only, however, there's recreational trout fishing nearby on the Rose, Hughes and Rapidan Rivers. Visit many, outstanding wineries, cheese factories, historic sites, civil war battlefields, Luray caverns, historic Monticello and the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Antique shop, bike, hike or just sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery and numerous wildlife. Bird watching is also popular.
We also have a smokehouse which is great for all kinds of food. Our dining room table seats 16 comfortably and makes for memorable, candlelight celebrations.
Specially designed lighting throughout the house makes it very romantic. A massage therapy center will come to the lodge for your spa massage. We also have a picnic table atop cocktail hill where you can sip your favorite beverage while viewing the breathtaking, panoramic view of the valley below. It's Wonderful!!
The Lodge is ideal for family gatherings, corporate retreats, reunions, birthdays, girls/guys weekends & theme weekends: i.e. cooking, yoga, painting, photography, nature, birding, & much more. Planning coordinator is available upon request.
There are many scheduled events, festivals, and activities throughout the year. There are world class to down-home restaurants within 10-30 miles (Most notable, Inn of Little Washington). So come and relax. You won't want to leave.

Rained the entire weekend at Spirit Dancer but our family had the very best weekend in years! Great fun in a spectacular house. Watched deer feeding and a mother black bear and her two yearling cubs in the meadow directly below the cabin. We will be back and it should be even better with a little sun.
The only reason I'm hesitant to give Spirit Dancer a great review is because I don't want anyone else to know how fantastic this place is. I went in mid November with a group of friends for my birthday party, and we were all blown away by the facilities and surroundings. The lodge is a home -- it shows in the quality of the furnishings and decorations, and the kitchen is impressively equipped. Sliding into the outdoor hot tub after a morning hike up White Oak Canyon is a pleasure not to be missed. Arrangements with Geri were smooth and trouble free. Can't wait to go back!
It was the ideal setting for a reunion of friends. The common area was warm and perfect for conversation. The sauna and hot tub were perfect.
Lovely space, helpful instructions/guides, and so close to some of the best hiking in the area. Thanks for sharing your space with us!
We booked the Spirit Dancer Lodge for our friend's bachelor party, and it turned out to be the perfect place to do it. We're not big of wine drinkers, but the nearby town of Sperryville had two great breweries (Pen Druid and Hopkins Ordinary), Headmasters Pub to grab a craft beer, Copper Fox distillery for cocktails and tastings by a river, and Bar Francis for some very quality cocktails (attached to the Rappahannock Pizza Kitchen). The house itself was perfect - enough room for everyone attending, a big kitchen and a nice patio for grilling and preparing food, foosball and a bar in the basement (and a TV that has been updated since the pictures were taken), lots of tables and seating for poker and board games, and a sauna. It was also very easy to get over to Old Rag Mountain for the challenging but rewarding 5ish hour hike. All in all, Spirit Dancer was a great place to spend the weekend, and somewhere we'd be happy to visit again! One note that others have mentioned as well - there is no internet and no cell service, for better or worse. We enjoyed the break!
The house is beautiful and was well maintained. We had a great time exploring the area and doing some hiking.
This is my second visit to the Spirit Dancer - I attended once before for a friend's birthday and decided to make a return to celebrate my 30th birthday! WHAT A TREAT!
This cabin is absolutely beautiful. The main living room has beautiful views of the surrounding area and a light dusting of snow will make it a winter wonderland. This was the PERFECT get-off-the-grid retreat for my friends and I. Plenty of sleeping space, plenty of on-property activities (games, air hockey, sauna, hot tub). The property was clean and maintained well and Geri stayed in constant contact with me from the pre-booking, leading up to the my reservation and after my visit (I tend to over-communicate with these things and she always was good about getting back to me in a timely manner).
While the snow kind of kept us stranded to the cabin, we had prepared well to spend the few days hanging out on the property!
Thanks again! Super fun way to spend a birthday with friends and get away from technology and all of life's demands! :)
