Very nice and cozy place. Comfortably located from lots of attractions. Everything in the condo was clean and comfortable. All in all a very nice stay, certainly would like to come back and definitely recommend to friends and family.
We had a great time at the Duck Creek condo. The place was comfortable, clean, and well appointed. It had all we needed. We enjoyed each night after long days of hiking both Zion and Bryce (perfectly located in the middle between the two parks). The wood stove in the corner warmed us and the kitchen had all we needed to make a great dinner as we enjoyed watching the Cubs win the National League pennant.
My wife and I selected Duck Creek Village at random for our honeymoon. I had lived in Utah previously, and she had never been west, and I wanted to see some mountains again. So we opted to head south - And boy was it worth it. The drive out is amazing (18 hours - Beautiful drive through Colorado and Utah to get there) - Upon arrival, Duck Creek Village sits in the caldera of a dormant volcano, with beautiful Birch forest surrounding almost everything, and lava rock jutting to and fro around the logging operations on the side of the road.
Despite being in the South West, this had a very North West feel to it, as it was fairly cold each day where we stayed (40-50's in September) - Along with that, it snowed us in one day, and the fog rolled over the mountain the next, which was both stunning to see and harrowing to drive in/on. Which brings us to the mountain itself - A drivers haven of twisty, mostly empty roads crossing the mountain, with small towns to the west, and Cedar City to the west side of the mountain... And the drive in to Cedar City alone was worth the vacation. Stunning chasms and a drive that takes you from 11000 feet to sea level over the course of a half-an-hour is priceless, and beautiful in the fall.
The cabin itself was quaint, and quite comfortable - And shockingly well insulated when we had a sudden freezing rain and snow storm! The wood burning heater was a fantastic touch, and kept us warm without engaging the electric heaters at all. Decoration and furniture lends a home-style stay, with an open floor plan and a kitchen that's fully stocked with plates and utensils. We did have to drive in to Cedar City to get groceries, but we loved the cabin so much we extended our stay by two days!
The only detail I'd have to add here is that you'd probably need to bring a 4x4/something with more than two-three inches of ground clearance (My poor Hybrid Civic wasn't having any of it!) to get to the parking lot behind the cabins where the rooms are located. It's up a fairly steep (I'd estimate 16 degrees) incline which is made of mud and gravel. There is a normal parking lot in front of the cabins as well, which is where we had to park, but it required lugging our luggage up and down. Not quite elderly or wheel-chair/handicap friendly, but not entirely inaccessible if someone of able body is along to assist. That said, this is just a note - Didn't impact our visit at all other than loading and unloading the car.
10/10 would stay +1
This a lovely rental that is clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay her. It Is conveniently located between Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks. To market this rental as a three bedroom-suitable for six adults, you need to provide an actual bed in the third bedroom. The futon in there is barely larger than a twin bed and the mattress is hard and lumpy.
We loved the quaint little condo. We were in Duck Creak last year with our children. We stayed in a huge 4 bedroom cabin. It was gorgeous and over the top. We wanted the kids to really have an experience of a life time, and they did. This time it was just me and my husband. We wanted something low-key and cozy. We looked at all types of lodging such as teepees, hotels, and cabins. We stumbled up this condo and gave it a shot.
The condo was warm and cozy. The finishes were older, not the granite counter tops or stainless steel appliances that are often sought but still nice. My biggest concerns whenever I stay away from home are cleanliness and bed quality, both of which were put at ease after a quick walk through. The condo was clean, linens clean, bed comfortable, and pleasantly roomy. The bathroom was spotless, no moldy corners or scummy grime, very clean and sparkly. I didn't hesitate to bathe. There was plenty of clean towels, soft soap, and blow dryer. The living room was a little worn, but still comfortable. The kitchen had all the basics. The stove was a little touchy. It's electric and the burners aren't very level, but you just adjust, remember it's not home it's still a rental. The only con, in my opinion, was the front door carpets, both in and out, need replaced, but that is such a minor detail that it didn't make or break our visit. The condo sits across from Duck Creak Village, so if you are expecting quiet then I recommend a peaceful little cabin in the woods because you will hear noise from both the village and the area ATV enthusiasts. Didn't really bother us, we were off exploring at the crack of dawn and fell into bed with exhaustion after hours of hiking - nothing would have kept us up.
Location location location! Duck Creek is pretty much smack dab in the middle of Zion and Bryce. It's the reason why we stay in the area. We went to both parks. We went to Cedar Breaks, Arches, Escalate, and many areas of Dixie. It was an amazing trip. Lots to do!
Overall, I would absolutely recommended the condo - great location, clean and cozy rental, and plenty to do!
This condo was very cozy and clean with all of the ammenities we could need. There was lots of wildlife all around. It took us a bit longer to get to both Bryce and Zion than stated in the description if that is important to you. There was also a little bit of noise fromthe road. For the price, it was perfect, though. Very nice to be able to prepare our lunches for the parks and we were so happy with the extreme cleanliness and hospitality
