About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Please see our other property also, #139712.

Although this cottage itself is nestled into sublimely quiet surroundings (with easy access to beaches and hiking trails), it is also just minutes from more active pursuits. The newly completed Concordia Eco Complex, with its splendid seaside setting (bar, restaurant, grocery store, snorkel rental, day -trips, and yoga/massage facility) is just 0.8 miles up the road and the town of Coral Bay, with its many attractions (water sports, horseback riding, shopping, restaurants, nightlife and more) is less than a 10 minute drive away.

The nearest beach is 0.3 miles away. While a rental car is recommended (for optimal touring of the rest of the island), the Salt Pond Bay bus stop (servicing both Coral Bay and Cruz Bay is just a three minute walk away, making your stay possible without one.

Quiet and Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is on the quiet side of the island which is why we chose this place. Coral Bay is close by and has a good selection of restaurants and grocery shopping. Salt Pond Bay, which has pretty good snorkeling and an excellent hiking trail, is within walking distance if you're not bringing a lot stuff with you.

The cottage itself was clean and comfortable for our needs, including my tween son. Everyone is not kidding when they say bring plenty of bug spray. We cooked in a lot and had all the utensils, pots, etc. needed to make meals. There is an impressive collection of books to read from fiction selections to helpful info books about the island.

Liz is an excellent communicator and always answered any of my questions within an hour. I really appreciated her flexibility and concern in making sure we were comfortable.

Great, affordable adventure

  • 5 of 5

I loved our weekend at the cottage! The facility was beautiful - a parcel of land tucked away in the hills of Coral Bay with plenty of open air and patio space. Not to mention Liz went way out of her way to give us clear directions about how to get there, what we would need to bring, and what to do once we got there. We had everything we needed!

A few things I'll note, though: We went in June, and (as Liz will acknowledge) the bugs and the heat make this a difficult time of year to travel. Unfortunately the cottage has no air conditioning, but there are plenty of fans and open windows to the extent that we generally only had trouble when the power went out - which is apparently common in Coral Bay and, for the entirety our one-week stay, only happened for about an hour. And she's not kidding when she says to get good sunscreen and bug spray.

Fantastic week overall, though. We will definitely be back!

Perfect Honeymoon Location

  • 4 of 5

Lameshur Cottage is exactly what we expected. It's located on the quieter side of the island. The property shows all the time and love Liz and Russ put into the place. The openness of the main house was refreshing and my husband and I felt connected even when in different rooms. The open shower was our favorite. Loved that it felt like showering outdoors, but inside. Liz is fantastic about communications during the booking, before you arrive, and during your stay. Please make sure to print the directions Liz will send you before you go to the island. I'm so use to doing everything on my phone, and ended up not having service but on a couple places on the island. So, I rang Liz after we picked up our rental jeep, and she was very helpful giving us directions. She even sent a follow up text asking if we made it.

The cottage was super clean. When we arrived and walked in the door, it smelled like freshly laundered linens and island breeze. We spent every day exploring the island and going to as many bays as we could, so coming home to the cottage and relaxing on the deck or in the hot tub was such a lovely way to end the day. The cottage is stocked with a great variety of books and music. You can't help but relax and enjoy while staying at Lameshur Cottages...just bring plenty of bug spray with you...that's also part of island life... :) Thanks Liz!

cottage that was comfortable and a little challenging

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage which was a good fit for a family of four. Four nights seem to be the ideal number of nights at this cottage with room to spread out and have a little space. Once we figured out the lay of the land we could plan our day out and not usually make it back to the cottage much before dark. Restaurants on this side of the island are expensive for the quality and quantity of the food but one needs to go with the island flow. Great little grocery store a few miles out with somewhat fair prices for the island. Beautiful views and worth a island visit and a stay at this cottage.

Beautiful Cottage

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Lameshur Cottage for four nights. We had spent three days in St Thomas and had a good time, but nothing prepared us for the wonderful contrast when we arrived at the cottage. St Thomas was busy and crowded, but at the cottage on St John we felt as though we had the island to ourselves. The property is beautiful with blooming bougainvillea and hummingbirds. The cottage is adorable and immaculate with bright Caribbean colors and beautiful decorations. Liz was a wonderful host, giving us pointers on where to go and what to do, but was very unobtrusive. The first day that we arrived, we were so happy and comfortable with the place that we stayed there all evening and enjoyed wine and the hot tub and the stars all around. The next day, Liz told us we could use the kayak, so my husband and I spent hours kayaking in Kiddel Bay. It was a one seat kayak, so we had to take turns. What a savings! Renting a kayak would have cost us a lot! Our four nights was up far too soon. Lovely place.
