About Dalip Khalsa
The owners, Dalip and Cindy, purchased the parcel in 2000 to save it from further development. One hundred acres of the parcel were put aside as a permanent wildlife reserve. Since that time, we have been enhancing the habitat by planting fruit trees as food for the animals and creating hiking trails through the forest. We are grateful when others who share the same energy are able to share in the ever evolving adventure.
Dalip Khalsa purchased this House in 2000
Why Dalip Khalsa chose Dominical
Back in 1996, Dalip attended an Eco Expo in the Boston area where he encountered a company growing tropical hardwood trees in Costa Rica as an investment opportunity. The company was buying up and reforesting large tracts of land deforested by the cattle industry. Some parcels were to be planted with trees for future harvest, with the sale proceeds going to the investors, minus a management fee. With their profits, the company bought and reforested other parcels which would never be harvested and which would create habitat for the wildlife to return to the area. As an environmentally conscious person, Dalip embraced this concept instantly, took a leap of faith and bought 100 trees on the spot. He then shared this opportunity with friends and family, who also bought trees. Cindy was one of those friends. Dalip and another friend who bought trees went to Costa Rica in 1997 to visit the tree farm and see the operation for themselves. They fell in love with Costa Rica and especially with the Southern Pacific Zone where the tree farm was located. The tree farm owners had a parcel in the area that was for sale and they bought it. The parcel had already been engineered for house lots, so Dalip and his friend kept a few lots on the ridge and designated the rest of the property as a permanent wildlife preserve. The first house they built was for a full-time caretaker and the second house is what is now
