About Ricki & Sandy Brown

Ricki & Sandy Brown, are deserts rats. We moved to Southern Utah to enjoy the canyons and mountains, hiking and biking being our passions. (We can direct you to secret spots.) We live next door to our vacation home in our own private place.

Ricki & Sandy Brown purchased this house in 2005

Why Ricki & Sandy Brown chose Utah

Escalante is the most remote village in the mainland USA and represents the New West. For us, it's a new life in close harmony with nature and all things wild.

What makes this house unique

The most talked about issues are the silence, the golden light, along with the clarity of the heavens. You'll want to experience the wild, quiet west as the weather turns.

A beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in this amazingly situated quiet corner of Escalante. We enjoyed the smells of the sage and desert with the setting evening sun. We will be back! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home and place with us, Jrene & family

Beautiful home, wonderful view, great for a family or two couples

  • 5 of 5

We came to Escalante for hiking and canyoneering and family time, and this home provided a relaxing retreat at the end of the day. Full kitchen meant we could cook a meal if we didn't want to go out to eat, and made it easy to do our own breakfasts and pack our lunches in the morning.

Best place to stay in Escalante!

  • 5 of 5

Great location close to town. It's quiet, with beautiful views and has everything you need. The owners are extremely nice and informative about the area. Dining out is limited so we brought all our groceries and had home cooked meals every night, worked out perfectly.

Great house with great views and hosts

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 11 nights in La Luz. Excellent base for exploring the Escalante area. Sandy and Ricky are very friendly hosts with outstanding knowledge of the area. Having come to Escalante for the past 16 years, we knew the area pretty well but Ricky suggested another 6 months worth of excellent hikes. Need to come back!!! The house is very comfortable and very nicely located on the edge of the town. Thank you Sandy and Ricky for a vet enjoyable stay.
