About Ricki & Sandy Brown
Ricki & Sandy Brown, are deserts rats. We moved to Southern Utah to enjoy the canyons and mountains, hiking and biking being our passions. (We can direct you to secret spots.) We live next door to our vacation home in our own private place.
Ricki & Sandy Brown purchased this House in 2005
Why Ricki & Sandy Brown chose Escalante
Escalante is the most remote village in the mainland USA and represents the New West. For us, it's a new life in close harmony with nature and all things wild.
What makes this House unique
The most talked about issues are the silence, the golden light, along with the clarity of the heavens. You'll want to experience the wild, quiet west as the weather turns.

Awesome Escalante
Thanks so much for creating such a wonderful vacation. Great place and very warm, helpful hosts.
La Luz - La Lovely!
Our family had a wonderful time at La Luz, Ricki and Sandy were wonderful and thoughtful hosts. It was a very quiet and upscale haven after miles and miles of hiking in the Grand Staircase. The decor was really wonderful and the property location was awesome. Loved the Budda seen from our windows. Will come again!!
Great place in Escalante
What a neat place. Such a cozy and comfortable place to stay while exploring all the areas around Escalante. The views are incredible, the home has everything you need to feel at home and the architecture is very interesting. We hope to come back and make this home base again sometime to continue exploring all the natural beauty in the area!
Beautiful house, beautiful views, and beautiful area to visit
This was our second stay at La Luz, and it was another excellent experience. This wonderfully well-designed home is beautiful and clean with the stunning views promised, a comfortable bed, lovely finishes and friendly, helpful yet unobtrusive hosts. There are good restaurant options nearby, as well as grocery, health food, and convenience store options. And, of course, many amazing parks, views, and hikes nearby.
Convenient & comfortable.
This was our base for a few days of hiking in the Escalante area. We had everything we needed, and the hosts were very helpful. Great place to stay.
Beautiful home, peaceful setting, awe inspiring landscape
The house looks out on beautiful open space. Very homey and bright, and passive solar design is great. Well equipped for cooking and comfy beds. Hosts were friendly and helpful about hikes, routes, and restaurants. Really appreciate that Sandy went the extra mile to mail phone charger. We liked the town of Escalante--small but has what you need. It was a little off the beaten track, which was a blessing. No lack of amazing outdoor activities and indescribable landscape.
