The Huron River House is modern retreat with 76 feet of frontage on the Huron River with access to the Chain of Lakes. A full wall of picture windows provides your unobstructed, 180 degree view of the beautiful Huron River. Spend your days sitting on our expansive deck witnessing breath-taking views of the Huron River while watching the ducks and swans swim by and use our kayaks to to spend the day fishing. A five minute drive to the Legacy Sports Center, ten minutes to downtown Brighton & 25 minutes to Ann Arbor. In addition there are many great parks, trails, restaurants, shopping centers and fun activities within a short drive.

This house has a great indoor and outdoor layout and is more spacious than it appears from the exterior. There’s plenty of room for everyone. Enjoyed the peaceful and calming river view. Great neighborhood for walking and bird watching. Would definitely return.

Lovely spot

We were in town for a Michigan football game and found this little lakeside house to be the perfect landing spot. Very comfortable and cute, lovely views and outdoor seating, all within 25 minutes of the Big House!

Quiet and Beautiful Area

The house may be better than advertised in the description. Two bedrooms, one on the top floor (entrance level) and one on the bottom floor facing the lake/river. Everything was clean. While it was just my spouse and I, the house was set up for a small family to stay with indoor/outdoor games, kayaks, TVs and the like. The next time we head to the area to visit family, we will definitely check to see if the property is available. Many thanks to Doug and Elyssa for renting out their lovely property!

Didn't want to leave!!

My first impression walking into the house was the gorgeous view that greeted us. It was spectacular! We haven't had a relaxing vacation like this in a long time. From the early morning mist on the water, watching a flock of swans swim by, daily walks around the quaint neighborhood, friendly neighbors stopping to chat, kayaking up the river, to the overall peace and tranquility of the location made for a perfect family vacation and bonding time. My husband and son fished every day, and caught a variety of fish--even a snapping turtle! The place was incredibly well cared for and clean--linens and towels smelled so fresh! You can tell the owners care about their property and do everything they can to make your time here memorable. Their communication was immediate. The microwave stopped working while we were there, and Elyssa ordered one that night and it was delivered the next day! We only wish we could have stayed longer! We will be back! Thank you, Doug and Elyssa, for sharing your home. It is beautiful!!

Quaint with every comfort of home!

This house is perfect for a couple or a small family and more like a luxury cabin! Two very well appointed bedrooms and bathrooms - one set upstairs and one set downstairs, modern and updated decor. Lovely kitchen with all of the amenities: utensils, pots, pans, dishes, glasses, cleaning supplies, etc. Washer and dryer were a nice bonus! The living room with the wall of windows to the backyard/river view was amazing! We spent a lot of time on the upper deck and lower patio enjoying the surrounding landscape and nature. We loved exploring the clean and clear river on the kayaks. Owners were very responsive - would highly recommend!

Great Stay

We had a great stay. The house was perfect for our needs. We were visiting our kids at the University of Michigan, and it was much better than staying in an overpriced hotel in Ann Arbor. We would book again.

Perfect Retreat!

We stayed here for three weeks. The house is very clean and very well stocked. The beds are really comfortable and the master shower is luxurious. The washer and dryer worked great. The neighbors are super nice and area is lovely. The birding is amazing right off the back porch. Each day we kayaked on the beautiful Huron River and each night we relaxed on the back deck gazing at the gorgeous waterscape. There was a tornado nearby and we lost power for three days. The owners were gracious and gave us a generous discount for the time without power. We were very sad to leave and would definitely stay here again. We loved our temporary home and heartily recommend it!

Lovely Stay

The pictures in the listing do not do the water views and backyard justice. We had a very peaceful stay. The owners of this property were easy to communicate with and they provide everything you’d need for the stay. Definitely felt at home here.

Great to be back!

Our first stay here was last June and it was great to be back this year as well..our dogs were so happy to come back too, like coming home! Everything continues to be pristine, clean, comfortable and well equipped with all the necessities needed for a comfortable stay. The hosts have thought of and paid attention to the smallest details of things you may have forgotten to bring. The beds and furniture are very comfortable and the view of the river and wildlife is so calming and relaxing. They have also provided many things for you to do outside to enjoy the river ,fishing poles, kayaks etc. , there is a spacious yard and a comfortable upper deck and lower patio to relax , eat , grill or enjoy the fire pit. inside there are books games , guitar, telescope for star gazing , living room tv and lower bedroom tv. The hosts are very friendly and easy to communicate with. This is such a great location to get to so many towns activities and sporting events, and the community has a great walking /biking trail near by that is great! Thank you Elyssa and Doug for another great visit.

Very relaxing stay

Beautiful venue with nice view of the Huron River. Lots of birds to see. House was well stocked and reasonably close to services. Beds were small but comfortable. Very relaxing experience. Vrbo app would not open to get access code to start with. Host phone bounced to VME which required a password to leave a message. We would like to go back for future visits.

Great Stay on the Huron River!

Doug and Elyssa’s house was FANTASTIC!!!! Our family of 5 fit very well there! It was very clean and well-stocked! You could tell they had put a lot of thought into what was in their house and what someone might need while staying there. The living room and kitchen are spacious and comfortable. The views of the river are beautiful! We got to see some beautiful sunrises over the river during our stay. Whenever we reached out to our hosts, they responded quickly and pleasant to deal with. Thank you Doug and Elyssa for a great stay and giving us a home away from home while we were having work done on our house!!!

Nice getaway!

We stayed here with our son over his fall break. All of us enjoyed our time there. The place was clean, comfortable, well appointed, and the river view was lovely.

Great property on the river

We really enjoyed the Huron River House for our four night stay near Brighton. It was centrally located to our activities in White Lake and Ann Arbor. The home was comfortable - great kitchen!, lovely view of the river with easy access. Beds were comfortable, and the only thing I didn’t pick up on is that one bedroom is downstairs and the other up. My youngest kid was afraid to sleep alone but she and my daughter took the larger bedroom downstairs and I slept upstairs. Really clean accommodations, and nice decor. Quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed kayaking one day, as well as the UM football game on Saturday. Thank you!! Wonderful experience!

We loved the kayaking. Thanks for the life jackets. We appreciated the items in the pantry, soaps in the bathrooms and cleaning supplies. We did find the mattress in the main floor bedroom was very uncomfortable.

Relaxing River Home with a great view!

We were in town for the Discraft Great Lakes Open for a week. Coming from northern Michigan, we didn’t want to be stuck in the concrete jungle every night. This place could not have been any more quiet, relaxing and beautiful for our time away from the course. Honestly, I can not think of an amenity that they did not have! Fully stocked everything from the kitchen to yard games! Not to mention a perfect location being close to all of our destinations. Doug and Elyssa were very helpful! We plan to be back in the future!

Beautiful, comfortable and peaceful stay

We stayed here for 10 nights with our baby and it was wonderful. The house is clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The property is gorgeous, we especially enjoyed the daily view from the balcony. We used the grill, kayaks, fishing poles and games that are offered, and swimming areas are not far. Doug and Elyssa are attentive and great communicators. We would definitely stay again!

Last minute construction…….

We were informed by Doug and Elyssa the day before we we’re supposed to check in that they had a construction project going on in the backyard. When asked if they could offer a discounted rate for the inconvenience they said No, if you don’t want to stay we already have someone that will take your days. So our view of the beautiful Huron river was ruined by a group of shirtless teenage boys trying to figure out how to drive a bobcat. Definitely not the vacation we planned on having, thanks Doug and Elyssa.

Sitting on a dock by the river

An all around wonderful time at the Huron River House. The house itself was comfortable and attractive - nice amenities. For all of us - adults and teens - being at the river added to the fun with kayaking and fishing - all equipment available to us by the owners. Beautiful views morning and evening. Plus great pizza at a little convenience store just around the corner.

A Slice of Heaven on the Huron

What a tranquil welcoming home. This is a great unique property in its modern, industrial type design....so innovative fun, open and functional in every way. Large windows expansive deck, lower patio and yard near the water give you wonderful views of the water and wildlife. (The pictures don’t do it justice) There is ample parking as well. It is very, very clean and your relaxation, comfort and enjoyment has been thought out in every detail by the wonderful hosts who own this beautiful home. We were very appreciative that they allowed our well behaved dogs to be with us which allowed us to make this trip back to Michigan. They have done a great job with comfortable furniture and stocking everything you may need in the expansive kitchen and throughout the home that truly enhance your stay. Games, toys, books, ready for all to enjoy... even dog dish, dog toys and treats ready for your pup too! Both bedrooms are spacious and the bathrooms have very nice showers, with luxurious Turkish towels provided for guests. Having a full laundry was great as well. Outside there is a nice deck with chairs and on the lower patio there is a grill, table with umbrella, lounge chairs, kayaks (life jackets), corn hole, and a full assortment of fishing equipment for your use and enjoyment. There is a party/convenient store just down the road that has a great assortment of groceries, wine, beer etc., even take out food! Shopping is close with a couple large grocery stores and pharmacy right in town and a large assortment of dining options, and the chain of lakes is so close too. Ours was a working /family visit stay so we were in and out a lot for a good part of our stay, but this home is so conveniently located to so many areas and to major highways that it made everything we had to do easier, especially coming back "home" at the end of the day to a wonderful, comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Our dogs loved it too and really enjoyed watching the swans, geese and even fish jumping in the water. We can't wait to come back and highly recommend staying here! Thank-you for such a welcoming memorable experience!

Great property

The property was very nice and just as advertised. It’s in a quiet spot but very convenient to stores like Kroger and Costco to pick up supplies. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a lakefront property!
