Our home, which we dearly love and visit often, is managed by us personally and we have a great local manager, housekeeper and caretaker. You will have an effortless check-in and check-out and receive a very nice gift/wine basket upon check-in. Our team is committed to making sure that you, your family and guests have a relaxing and fabulous vacation.

We purchased 'Get Lucky' in 2009 primarily because of the spectacular views. We have now completed phase II of a complete redesign, reconstruct and remodel project. We have spared no thought, no idea, no time or expense on this amazing home. We brought in materials from Europe, Africa, Asia and South America and craftsman and woodworking artist from Key West, St. Petersburg, Savannah, Reno and Tahoe. We think this is truly a special place and know that you will agree.

You will never forget these Views!: The Awesome Great Room (expanded) has a 3 sided fireplace with pit group seating and a fabulous view of the ski runs, lake and mountains. It also has an exquisite table that is truly a work of art. It is a 650+ lb. single piece of African Bubinga hardwood...Beautiful!! Also has a very unique 'turn of the century' brass chandelier, rare wildlife mounts, other unique artwork, and very comfortable leather furniture. All bedrooms, all bathrooms, Great Room, game room, hardwood floors and windows (expanded) were completely remodeled. 'Get Lucky' has a stunning New Master Bedroom and Master Bath both with a fireplace and fantastic views.............

New Gourmet Kitchen!... This professionally stocked New Gourmet Kitchen is all stainless steel with lavish African hardwood counter-tops, European Oak hardwood floors and custom Italian tile. A very large hardwood (Bubinga) Island Bar with built-in Wolf range & hood seats 14. It's great for cooking and entertaining at the same time and also has Stunning Views. The kitchen has a separate ice machine ( Hoshizaki...the best!), a large chopping block table, an extra large custom made SS commercial double sink with double drainboards and faucets, a Jura Capresso coffee, espresso, cappuccino, latte machine, professional cooking equipment, Chef's tools and a Wolf stainless gas range with four burners, 24 in. grill, a large convection oven and a regular oven.

Owners are in the food business and love to cook and entertain and with a lot of thought, love and expense this kitchen turned out to be a Masterpiece..............

New Outdoor Kitchen: This Fabulous Outdoor Kitchen is built on an expansive hardwood ( Brazilian Ipe) deck with Great Views and has an extra large gas Stainless Grill (rotisserie), Side burner, Sink, Refrigerator, extra large Commercial Smoker, Stockpot Burner for frying turkey, clambakes, shrimp/crawfish boils ( pots included ) and a Weber charcoal grill for the 'purists'. The next deck has two gas copper fire-bowls with seating for those chilly nights and great entertaining. The next deck has 'Pub' seating and Majestic Views of Lake Tahoe and the Mountains. 'Get Lucky' is the perfect home for entertaining large families and gatherings with spectacular ( romantic ) sunsets over the lake, framed by snow capped peaks and breathtaking views of the moon and stars in the clear, clean mountain air. 'Get Lucky' is also the perfect place for that romantic getaway..........Note: Outdoor Kitchen could be closed in Winter due to snow !!!!

Wonderful cabin; so close to Heavenly

The cabin was great. The kitchen was exactly what we wanted for our collective meals. Bathrooms connected to every space meant there was no fighting for space. A 5 minute drive to Heavenly's commuter lot. Great experience and am looking forward to staying there again.

What a View!

If you have a large party, want a well laid out house with amazing views of Lake Tahoe and Heavenly ski resort, this is your place. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a place that is well stocked and details throughout for ease of stay. 5 stars is not enough for this host and house.

Amazing Family Retreat

This is an amazing property with incredible views of Lake Tahoe and heavenly Valley. Hiking trails within walking distance amazing amenities on the property and very close to all the fun of tractions of Southlake Tahoe. This was our 24th annual family retreat and it has to be one of the best ever, so thankful to John and Susan for the amazing property and hospitality!

One of a kind and great kitchen

I stayed here with my family and we were in awe of the views. The property was truly one of a kind. I will miss the mornings cooking breakfast in this amazing kitchen. Tahoe views from a Wolf range is hard to beat if you love to cook. The house was very well appointed and the rooms were large. We had 12 in our family and there were plenty of beds and bathrooms to go around without issue. John and Susan were very responsive and communicated well. I would absolutely stay at Get Lucky again.

We really enjoyed our visit to Tahoe and our stay at the “Get Lucky”. It’s a beautiful home, very comfy for our party of 8. And you just can’t beat the view. It is amazing!! John is a great host and very responsive. We skied 3 different resorts while we were here, Kirkwood was the best, and only a scenic 1 hour drive from the house. The house is high on a hill, you reallly do need 4WD in the winter, we had no problem.

Breathtaking Views and Beautiful Home

We were a group of 10 adults (4 couples and 2 friends) going to Lake Tahoe for the first time. We were half skiiers and half nonskiiers and this location was perfect for both! 5 minutes to the gondola/village. The home itself is beautiful and well taken care of. As a group of people who love to cook, the chefs kitchen was a delight! Bedrooms and baths are spread out enough that everyone has their space, but the great room is large enough to accomdate the group very easily. John and Susan are responsive and gave wonderful recommendations for food and things to do around town. Lastly, they arent kidding about the views. WOW. The trip was worth it just for that. Pictures dont do it justice.

Three couples shared this house for a 60th birthday week of celebration and this house was perfect! Sited up the mountain a ways, it has unbelieveable unobstructed views. The home is richly appointed and has a well stocked professional kitchen. Awesome espresso/capucino machine! Master suite was beautiful, other bedrooms & bathrooms were very comfortable. Each couple had their own area & privacy. Great room had a view over the mountains extended to the wrap around 2 level deck with awesome views fro every vantage point. Great outdoor kitchen, seating areas and fire pit. Didn't use the hot tub but it looked well maintained. Thanks to the owners who so thoughtfully set this rental up! I would highly recommend this property and would rent it again myself. Thanks for a great week!

GOT LUCKY finding 'Get Lucky''!

WOW!! This house exceeds all expectations and pictures on the website. We wanted a beautiful house with a great view in a spectacular location for my daughter's small wedding and it checked off everything...including things we didn't even know we'd want. The kitchen is gorgeous, the views are dreamy, and the space fit our combined two families of 10 perfectly. We had my daughter's wedding dinner for 20 there and it was beautiful.. The indoor and outdoor kitchens provide everything you'd ever want. Bumper pool, fire pits, and the hot tub were big hits too. Susan was a great communicator and the check-in process was easy. I'm acutally kinda going through withdrawal being back in Michigan....and it's only been less than a day! LOL. BOOK IT! You won't be disappointed!

Amazing views and location for a group of 11's first time in Lake Tahoe

"Get Lucky" was a great place to stay for a group of 11's first visit to Lake Tahoe! The views and location were spectacular. As soon as you walk in and see the views, you know how the place got its name. The home was spacious enough for all of us to feel comfortable and have enough space to hang out throughout the house. The bathrooms and bedrooms were large. You can tell John and Susan deeply care about their home. There is signage throughout the house that is mostly helpful, but it sometimes felt it was more to instill fear in not doing things exactly as outlined (e.g., putting the pots exactly where found or else there could be an additional charge). In the grand scheme of things, it was minor. The deck of the house was an amazing space and we used it everyday, multiple times per day. The stove and outside kitchen area was amazing. We would've liked the house to be cleaner, particularly in the bedrooms. The master bedroom had a lot of dust and dead moths around the bottom of the bed. Lastly, I would like to make it aware that there is a camera in the laundry room that is not outlined in the contract signed for the security deposit. We have no issues with cameras on the property in places that don't invade privacy, but the laundry room felt like a step too far. I would definitely recommend Get Lucky and we can't thank Susan and John enough for offering their home so others can enjoy the amazing place that is South Lake Tahoe. Thank you!!

Hi Laura. Thank you for your review. From your initial email we knew yours would not be our typical rental! We certainly never mind answering questions that will make our guests more comfortable but.......You asked about the accuracy of our listing pictures (twice), the reviews, the layout of the beds, if we provided spices, how much toilet paper, paper towels and trash bags you would have, would there be a walkthrough, if you could use the washer and dryer, questioned having to pay a refundable security deposit, and even who owns the house. Then we became tour guides as you asked about renting a boat, water sports, good restaurants, groceries, walking/hiking/biking trails and "other lake activities and viewpoints." We were actually the ones who were "fearful," fearful that Get Lucky would not meet your expectations. The camera attached to the side of the media cabinet in the laundry room is not operable. It was put there by the installers of the outdoor cameras to aid in installation and positioning. We have no reason to watch you doing laundry. Our last communication was at midnight when you called because you could not access the service lockbox. You insisted you should have been given a code but the front door is coded so no keys or lockbox is ever needed. You said you could not lock the door and were instructed to turn the small know on the inside of the door. We are sorry to learn about the dust and moths at the foot of the bed. Our Tahoe home is in the forest and home to lots of wildlife, including moths. We, too, find that the house can get dusty in general, especially during the summer months when the doors and windows are open. We are happy to hear you traveled safely home and enjoyed "amazing" Tahoe. Take care!

Great House, Irrational Owners

This beautiful house would be a treat to stay in, if it wasn't for dealing with the owners. The house is surrounded by security cameras, which the owners monitor religiously. We consistently received angry texts, calls, and voicemails criticizing us for normal things: For having more guys than girls (they literally counted), bringing ski boots into the laundry room to dry overnight, and having a third car in the driveway (even though there are signs saying we can have 4 cars). The first night we told the owner over the phone that one of our cars was out getting groceries, to which she snapped: "I already saw you walk in with frozen pizzas, what do you need groceries for?!" The owners have their own set of rules which aren't written down on the listing or the lease that renters sign, which makes the experience like walking on eggshells. If you don't mind living in a police-state where you're watched all the time, including a camera pointed at the hot tub (creepy), this house is for you. As an alternative, if you don't mind rude, overbearing owners, just cover the cameras or turn off the WiFi and enjoy your expensive vacation. The house is truly magnificent. To give a little more color surrounding our group's etiquette, the house manager, Ezra, sent a glowing review of us to the owners via text on the last day and we received our security deposit back in full. The owner's demeanor did a 180 after that text but unfortunately our group was already upset by their treatment. Cue angry owner response:

After 10 years of renting Get Lucky & hosting literally thousands of happy guests & 65 (!!!) 5-star reviews, Peter’s review is shocking! We are happy, not angry, to respond. Yes, we have security cameras at every exterior door including the back door by the spa—NOT the spa itself—as our rental agreement clearly states. We check the cameras periodically & more during Peter’s visit because of an impending snowstorm. Tahoe had 40 feet of snow in February alone! We told Peter in advance our garage accommodates 2 cars & 4WD & chains or snow tires were necessary. We also emailed 2 snow routes & a photo of snow accumulation the day of his arrival. None of this made a difference. They took their own route & were stuck before they even arrived. Thankfully, our caretaker was nearby to pull them out. When he called us, we checked the driveway camera & saw a third car in the driveway. We suggested they park that car at a casino so the driveway could be plowed. Again, the group did not listen & spent the trip WALKING a mile to & from Heavenly. By then it was snowing by the foot & we had done all we could to help. The question about the number of guys & girls was out of concern & definitely not criticism. Our home has 9 beds. Guys do not normally share beds so this was merely a comment & a question we ask every group. Mentioning frozen pizzas & telling the group they did not need groceries NEVER happened! We have no idea what the group ate, do not care & it’s not our business. After reading Peter’s review we did “religiously” review the cameras. We saw a guest "relieving" himself in the driveway (in broad daylight), a guest carrying an XL snow-covered ski bag through the front door & multiple guests with snow-covered coats, gear & boots walking through the garage & inside. There is, by the way, a large red sign on the door to remind guests to leave boots & gear in the garage with two 12’ benches for it. We do not have our “own set of rules” but assume our guests will treat our home with common courtesy & respect. As Peter commented, our home is “magnificent” and our hope is for all guests to have a great Tahoe experience. Everything we do from furnishing our home to maintaining it & communicating with our guests is for comfort & safety. Previous reviews indicate other guests appreciate our efforts, including guests leaving the day Peter’s group arrived. We actually paid for their chains! Obviously, Peter & his group will not return to Get Lucky—by mutual agreement!

Great property close to heavenly with great views. Tons of room and very comfortable. Great kitchen for cooking and gathering. Was able to do snowmobiling, snowshoeing, skiing, hiking, gambling and more all with ease. Great time.

SO WORTH IT!

We fell in love with this place immediately upon seeing the photos. It was out of my original budget, but as it was a special occasion, I decided to splurge. It was so worth it! Our days at Get Lucky will be a family memory we will never forget. Communication with the owner was outstanding, the best I have ever experienced.

Pictures don’t do it justice. The view is literally breathtaking and the house was amazing.

The check in process was beyond easy. House was very clean and easy to operate. Family loved it and we will definitely be back numerous times.
